It was all very pleasant. When I arrived early, I could check-in anyway, which was very much appreciated. The room was very spacy and nicely decorated. It was almost a shame it was just for one night. The location is perfect! Almost next to the train station, only 5 minutes walk.

I had a great stay and conference in Novotel. Room was clean an the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great in the morning and the staff working were great making sure everyone was happy. I used the gym facilities which were brilliant but the information on the wall was all upper body exercises, for an update lower body exercise posters should be added.

Fine. Some small hitches. Basin drained away very slowly. Temperature control on shower: started cold, had to be taken right up through warm to get to a decent temperature, then stayed really hot even when turned back down to one blue dot before cold? I mentioned this at the desk where someone said they'd look into it. Also, did not realise I could control the temperature of my room - had been told I couldn't at the Sheffield Novotel earlier this year. It might be that I missed an instruction/ advice about this for the Bristol Novotel. As this hotel is on a main road in a heavily built up area in the centre opening a window meant it was rather noisy. I do see the safety measure in relation to not being ablree to leave the hair dryer on accidentally but they're rather large heavy hairdryers and for someone elderly it's quite difficult to keep pressing down on the on button to keep them on. Or perhaps I've not discovered how to work it? These are small things. All staff were very nice and helpful, the room and facilities apart from the above absolutely fine and booking on line also not too complicated.

Worst Experience in a Novotel ever!

The reason I say this was a terrible stay is for many reasons: - Scaffolding and building works which was not stated on the website / emails prior to my arrival. The works started at around 7am each morning which caused distributions to my sleep and made my stay very uncomfortable. - Spa facilities did not work and was very disappointing, this was the main reason I chose to stay in the Novotel and not any other hotels as I really wanted to make the most of the Steam room and Sauna however were both very cold and did not get fixed after mentioning it multiple times to the reception each day. - The sink had an awful stench and really put me off when going to wash my face/ brush teeth. I don't know if this was a drains issue but the stench was really bad! Overall, to say I stayed in an executive room I did not feel I had an executive experience considering I was there for 4 nights. In all honesty, this has really put me off staying in another Novotel (certainly for those in Bristol). I hope this feedback can be used to good effect so other individuals do not have the same negative experiences.

Many thanks for your feedback James, I was sorry to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations on this occasion prompting you to give an overall rating of just 1/10 in particular, due to the unpleasant odour from your bathroom sink and the issue regarding the sauna and steam room, please accept my sincere apologies. Although we are unaware of any similar feedback regarding the bathroom sink, I have since requested my maintenance team to inspect the U bend of the sink as this may be the possible cause as often, there can be a build-up of dirt over a period of time which can become stagnant. This task requires taking all the pipes apart to access this area for a deep clean and thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. I would also like to confirm that both the Sauna and Steam room do operate on a timed system during the morning and evening midweek, with extended time periods over the weekend which are displayed within the guest information. We have now had the opportunity to check the timer again which appears to be functioning correctly albeit, there is also a sensor that if the units are not in use and have reached the optimum temperature will over ride and can switch the heating off. This is to preserve energy in line with our Planet 21 commitment and I am sure that this is the most likely cause on this occasion. Like with all Saunas and Steam rooms, the heating of this equipment is a gradual process to reach the correct temperature therefore, please accept my sincere apologies that they failed to reach your required temperature during your stay. We will of course monitor this situation and take any necessary action to prevent future occurrence. I have also requested my maintenance team to inspect the dosing system in place for essential oils such as eucalyptus as it is most unusual to receive feedback regarding an unpleasant smell in these areas other than the general Steam and Sauna odours. As for the city centre roadworks, we can certainly emphasize the inconvenience and frustration these major works may cause in addition, to the visual aspect of the current scaffolding surrounding the building. Whilst the hotel is doing its utmost to ensure the essential works to maintain the roof do not disrupt our guests during their stay. The roadworks however, in the immediate vicinity have been ongoing for over two years changing on a daily basis. We are informed by the city council that these particular works are to improve the flow of traffic. I understand that you are an employee of Lloyds Banking Group therefore, I am sure you are probably aware that Bristol city centre has been undergoing many changes over numerous years. Although, we are in constant contact with the council as we try to keep up with the changes, as you can imagine this is very challenging. However, the Council do assure us that the workman should not commence works before 08:00 hours Monday –Saturday (albeit, we now understand that this has also been extended to a Sunday) as it is their hope to complete this over running project by Autumn 2019. We will of course bring your concern to their attention given them the opportunity to discuss this with their contractors and we thank you for your full understanding regarding these unfortunate and necessary works which are out of the control of the hotel. It is our hope that you will consider Novotel again in the future. Warmest regards , Iain France - General Manager

Absolutely lovely. Right down to the finest details. The staff were great, room was immaculate and the bathroom so clean. Wonderful stay, would not stay anywhere else in Bristol. I will be recommending Novotels to friends.

Comfy bed, ultra clean room. Great tea brand and delicious complimentary biscuits Staff were polite but not overbearing. Only downside is the TV which for some reason wouldn’t go higher than 23 on the volume control. Understandable to minimise disturbance to other guests, but a bit of a pain to hear the audio.

Hi stayed on 1-6-19, wife and daughter went to the hippodrome, my son and i thought we would stay in the hotel and watch the champions league final in the sport's bar, but you never screened it, which was disappointing and my son being only 13 we could not goto another bar, so we went for a meal, other that we all enjoyed our stay, breakfast was good, we would use your hotel again, staff were helpful and polite.

Glad to hear you had a great stay with us Kevin and I am sure that you also enjoyed the show at the Hippodrome with your family. I was however sorry to learn that you believed there was a Sports Bar in the hotel, although we do screen events on the large TV available though the free view channels and BT Sport, this however, is on a request basis from our guests and I am sorry if the team were unable to assist on this occasion. I was quite disappointed with my room. I felt that the temperature of the room was hot and hard to cool down, even though the outside temperature wasn't hot. There were hairs in my bed, rubbish under the bed, crumbs on the floor and quite a lot of dust on the skirting boards. I also felt that the pillows were still very hard so I brought my own again for this visit. The breakfast selection and lunch was very pleasing. Everything was well cooked and warm.

Nice room, however it was close to the lift so you could here it saying ‘doors opening’ and ‘doors closing’ each time somebody got on or off. Also the TV had no signal, not a big issue for me as I got in late but would have been a problem for some guests.

Customer service was helpful and friendly. Room was very good. Breakfast was awesome. Just about anything you want. Parking was great and there was lots of spaces. Only down side was the roadworks which made the sat nav struggle with finding the hotel but this wasn’t your fault. Just took a bit longer to get to you. Upto midday check was handy so we could have a leisurely breakfast and go back to the room so we didn’t have to rush about.

Very good service. Big clean room. Scaffolding and especially the road works meant it took 30 mins to do the last 100m to the hotel!

Regarding he scaffolding, this is due to essential maintenance works need on the room and I can emphasize that this certainly does not allow the building to look its best however, this should be complete within the next month and thanks for your understanding. I was also sorry to hear you were inconvenienced and delayed due to the city centre roadworks, this has been a constant battle over the past numerous years in Bristol as the city council make improvements to teh flow of traffic. We have indeed raised our concerns directly with the city council on numerous occasion as they appear to change on a daily basis. They have however, confirmed that the Temple Gate project will be completed in Autumn 2019. It was too hot at night and the ‘cooling’ didn’t work. This was the same last time and for nearly all of my colleagues who stayed. This meant windows needed to be open onto a busy street with lots of noise. Awkward to get to from the station as the route on foot keeps changing due to road works but we received nothing to tell us the best way to go.

Many thanks for your feedback Ross, I was sorry to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations on this occasion in particular due to the surrounding works in the local vicinity and the temperature of your bedroom, please accept my sincere apologies. Whilst I am sure that you are aware that the UK has been facing some very erratic temperatures between day and night, this has been very challenging for the air comforting system in the hotel as this operates depending on the external temperature and either driving a heating or cooling mode. I am sorry that the team did not inform you to simply turn off the control in your bedroom and open the windows for a short period of time as this would have cooled your room down rapidly as the night temperatures during your stay were below ten degrees. Regarding the ongoing city centre improvements which have in place for several years now and change on a daily basis, I have contacted the city council who inform us that this should be complete by Autumn 2019. The problem with the stay at the hotel is that it’s a) covered in scaffold and has work being done to it and b) directly opposite is a construction site which began working on a Sunday morning at 7-7.30am. It was extremely loud noise which woke me up. When your paying £100 for a room you at the least should have a decent nights sleep.

Lovely hotel and staff, breakfast was great! Only problem was the air conditioning wasn't very good so room was uncomfortably warm.

I was however, sorry to learn that you found your room too warm, we operate an air comforting system which kicks into either a heating or cooling mode dependent on the external temperature. I am sure that you are aware that the UK has faced some very erratic temperatures whereby very warm during the day and even reached freezing point during the night therefore, making it very challenging for the system as it gradually adjusts. The easiest solution during these unpredictable situations is to simply turn off the unit in your bedroom and open both the windows at night for a short period of time which would have rapidly cooled the room down during your stay.
