Everything was perfect other than the security arrangement. Someone can come in the lobby, get into the lift and into the respective floors without any problem. This is not good for security. I have seen other hotel where you have to access the lift through a protected door or have to swipe the card to be able to press floor button in the lift.

Many thanks for your review, I was concerned to read, that despite your concern regarding security within the hotel, rather that advise us at the time and discuss your concern directly with us, we were very disappointed to learn that you have chosen to post your comments on a public site. Please rest assured, that the health and safety of all guests and colleagues is of paramount importance to Novotel which we take very seriously. We are fully aware that the current lifts are ageing therefore, restricted to fit further security systems to the existing cars. However, as we have already addressed this issue, the lifts are programmed to always stop and open their ors at Ground level which is under the full view of our our CCTV security system. Furthermore, we have and are still in the process of upgrading all the cameras around the public areas including bedroom corridors for additional security. We realize that the current Otis Lifts are ageing and have also prepared a refurbishment program to replace the cars and mechanism which will be completed by Autumn 2019, this will also address the security aspect of requiring a room key to access the lift. We trust that we have been able to answer your concern and it is our hope that you will consider Novotel again in the future and we thank you for your overall rating of 4/5. Nice room, quite comfortable and a good night's sleep. The air conditioning wasn't particularly effective so the room became a little too warm. Very helpful and friendly reception. Great breakfast, although the vegan sausages are horrible. Please don't serve those vegetable things.

Roadworks, poor breakfast service, simple.

There is scaffolding on the hotel, and right outside the hotel front doors is roadworks going on, therefore had to sit in a queue of traffic for 25 minutes before arriving at the door. There was no warning or heads up about this upon booking. The room was very basic for the price paid, and very loud in the morning with the roadworks going on. At breakfast I had ordered a pot of tea - which never arrived. I had to find a waiter on the other side of the room to order another one after breakfast - not great when in a rush to leave shortly after. Overall a very average stay at best.

I was sorry to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations on this occasion Kate which has prompted you to allocate a disappointing rating of just 3/10, in particular due to the service at breakfast, please accept my sincere apologies. I will certainly discuss your feedback with my team and take the necessary measures to prevent future occurrence of the hot drinks service. Regarding the scaffolding, I can emphasize that this is currently unsightly however, we do need to address essential maintenance works to the roof and it is our hope that this project will be completed in the next eight weeks. As for the city centre roadworks, these have been ongoing for numerous years and appear to change daily as Bristol Council make improvements to the flow of traffic. Please be assured that we are in constant contact with the City Council as the information they provide is very vague together with diversion signs to direct people to access the right location and I apologise on their behalf for any inconvenience this may have caused. Although, the Temple Gate project (in the immediate vicinity) is currently over running, we have now been informed that this will be completed in Autumn 2019. The hotel was in a very good location, being a very short walking distance from Temple Meads station. The room was a good size and was comfortable and only a 7 or 8 minute walk to the city centre

I had a lovely stay. I was greeted and checked in efficiently and delightfully. I was given just enough useful information to help me make choices, (the gym, supper etc). My room spacious and clean. Breakfast was lovely. I also had an evening drink in the bar which was also pleasant.

Very good location, didn't look great due to scaffolding on the building.

I loved every minute of my stay of 3 nights. I used the gym for free, the restaurant was lovely and the room was bright, spotlessly clean and linen was beautiful. I cannot say enough good things about this hotle.

A lovely size room, great restaurant food and breakfast but room wasn't cleaned (under sofabed) and scaffolding outside window gave me a veranda!

The team were very welcoming as always, the hotel is still kept very clean and the breakfast buffet is very good. My only disappointment was the new (dry) recipe for carbonara which is nowhere near as tasty as the old creamy one that included mushrooms.... I'll remember to avoid it in future

We stayed at this hotel a few years ago, enjoyed it and thus came back. The hotel is still great and in the most the staff are excellent. A couple of the breakfast staff could do with improving their manners and could smile but the reception, housekeeping and bar staff were all great. The big problem for the hotel is the beautification of the surrounding roads and infrastructure. It was a nightmare getting to the hotel by road as some roads were closed or are now one way. I struggled to get to the hotel even when in Victoria road on consecutive days. I even struggled to walk to the city centre due to inadequate signage. The works are no where near completion and I doubt whether it will be complete this time next year

It was all very pleasant. When I arrived early, I could check-in anyway, which was very much appreciated. The room was very spacy and nicely decorated. It was almost a shame it was just for one night. The location is perfect! Almost next to the train station, only 5 minutes walk.

I had a great stay and conference in Novotel. Room was clean an the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was great in the morning and the staff working were great making sure everyone was happy. I used the gym facilities which were brilliant but the information on the wall was all upper body exercises, for an update lower body exercise posters should be added.
