I came with high expectations given my great experiences at the Ink Hotel in Amsterdam, which is part of the same chain. While I was satisfied overall, there were some basic issues that soured my experience, and would make me think again about returning: 1) I was initially given the wrong room (a regular room instead of a suite) 2) Everyday, I had issues with my room keys, which meant I had to keep beng issued new ones (I saw other guests with the same problem) 3) The TV in my room wasn't working properly 4) It took three phone calls and quite some time for someone to come and fix the TV 5) The selection of English-language channels was very limited 6) I was on the top floor of the hotel, but my view of the city was spoiled by the fact that the floor-to-ceiling windows were rather dirty 7) I had to call a few times and wait a long time for coffee capsules to be replenished. They arrived after I said I would complain to the manager about customer service if I had to call a fourth time 8) When booking the hotel, the main attraction for me was the rooftop. There were two rooftop pools - one for adults and one for children - but both were full of kids, meaning that one couldn't relax because of the great deal of noise and splashing 9) The spa area looked lovely, but the gym within the spa was depressing - small with no mirrors or music, which made it somewhat claustrophobic There was an employee at the reception - Telma - who went out of her way to make me feel welcome, so she deserves a special mention and a thank you.

It is in a very good position to travel to Barcelona. It is very convenient because there are subway stations, bus stops, and shopping malls nearby. Rooftop swimming pool and the holiday atmosphere is good.

The suite we booked was very comfortable, as were the other amenities in the hotel. However, I found the service very disappointing. The reception staff seemed disinterested when we asked questions about local amenities. Two days before our departure date, I asked whether it would be possible to have a late check-out. I was told that I couldn't have an answer until the morning of our check out date as it "depends how the day is going". I found this very unhelpful in our planning. On the morning of our check out date, I asked about a late check out and was told it would not be possible. No reason or apology was given. We decided to have breakfast at the hotel one morning and found the service to also be abrupt. On the day we checked out, we left our luggage with the hotel, in the locked room. When I went to retrieve it so that we could go to the airport, I waited at reception for 20 mins for someone to assist me. The first man who then spoke to me said he didn't have a key and then disappeared into the restaurant. I was left waiting again. I then tracked the same man down to the restaurant and had to ask to speak to the manager before anyone could come with the key. Overall, very poor and unfriendly service.

We enjoyed our stay and would love to go back again. Roof top bar was good and relaxing although swimming pool is not that big but my kids enjoyed swimming. Hotel's location was great.

Very helpful, courteous & accommodating staff. Helped me with everything I needed. Excellent air con. Comfy bed. Great shower. Good breakfast but chaotic. Pancake maker takes too long, and cereals aren’t presented well or easy to access. There was no apple juice & limited croissants on our last day too. Rooftop bar & pool are great, however I think there is an issue with Algae in the pool. The manager was great at dealing with my concerns and resolved my issues. The lifts are very slow and busy too, wait a long time on occasions to get up and down. Good location.

Hello, In a nutshell: nice view on Glories tower in a nice chamber, swimming pool on the top of the building is a good experience (warmer water would be even greater), happy welcome by hotel's staff, crowdy breakfast but with good food for all, and last but not least, a nightmare with the card and the elevator's card readers. Overall good, just a few negative things: - although I did the online checking, when I arrived to the hotel I had to wait for other guests who didn't do it, so I saved almost no time by doing the online checking. I will not do it again. - the cards to open the room door and to "enable" the lift did not work very well. They failed many times. - when paying, I was told that I had taken two drinks from the minibar, which I didn´t - but the worst of all is that I received an email saying that half of the bill had already been charged to my credit card, but at check out I was told that it wasn't and that I had to pay the full bill. This left me a bit insecure as to how much I was been charged.

I had all the disappointed possible with this hotel first they gave me a room with a building blocking any possible view, the room was not renew maybe for the last 30 years and very inconcortafle; the hotel was over crowded with thousand of children and people who look homeless people, you have to stand long ling for breakfast then you need to fight for some space when you are ready yo go back in your room you need to wait 3 or 4 times elevator because always lines to go up and down, I try to eat a Hamburger on the roof but I just pay and Could n eat because was very greasy, it very pretentious to say is a 4 Star Hotel because in other lowers brands was much better service, one day I equest to clean my room at 9 AM I come back at 3 PM and was not clean ! thing was going on and on in disappointment, I was regiser a promotion X4 Points to earn for any stay in August also was not credited; definitely I will make the worst review possible in all social media about this hotel and definitely I will never stay there any more, thanks

We had a family room, a double bed and a double sofa bed for our two children; though in truth not that comfortable for them. No family rooms with a double and twin singles, which is disappointing. I think describing the hotel as Barcelona City is a bit misleading as it is somewhat out of the city, and we took a metro in from Glories metro station to the central square. We did have two other issues with the room; the light in the mini- bar kept on flicking, and despite reporting three times they were unable to resolve. I ended up disconnecting the power source! Also, the light in the bathroom is strong, and with a glass door when you turn on the light during the night it pretty much illuminates the whole room. The bathroom needs a soft light around the mirror. Outstanding breakfast, and service which really sets you up for the day. A great choice of everything; but beware that the churros disappear very quickly! The pool is small, but we knew that anyway, so don't expect to do much swimming. If can get a bid windy up here as located on the 19th floor. Overall a comfortable stay and would consider fit next family trip if we were to return.

It started perfect at the check in with Maria. Very friendly, efficient with the right portion of humor. We got our rooms superquick and the hotel lived up to our Platinum status at Accor. The only thing that did not fully met our expections was the top pool bar where the service was slow without finess, partly due to a Company event? Breakfast was super and once again thank you Maria for the restaurant recommendation outside the Hotel, Raco de la Vila. We left the hotel with a smile and we had a perfect start of our holiday, a MSC cruise starting Saturday.

Pleasant stay marred by a jobsworth concierge trying to be impotant.

The room was roomy, comfortable and clean. Pillows were not comfortable. Breakfast was excellent but the circulation area around the central serving hub was manic and dangerous. The concierge tried to stop me filling my water bottle with iced water in the lobby. This was embarassing. He told me it was only for people taking a cupful. He did not, however, stop the two small children next to me emptying the large sweet jar next to the water and stuffing the gooidies in to their pockets. His behaviour and disrespect toards me was unforgiveable. I told him I had paid for the water. I could have stood there and drunk cup after cup of the water which is the same as filling a bottle. He was obviously not very intelligent. If I was the Hotel Manager I would seriously consider encouraging him to pursue his career elsewhere. He certainly needs training in how to speak to clients. The customer is always right. We won't rush back to Accord after this experience. In England we are trying to reduce single use plastic and hotels and public spaces now provide water filling stations. Accord obviously have no policy on this very important issue. Also our towels were replaced daily which was unnecessary. Until big corporations , like Accord, get their act together, plastic will continue to fill our oceans and detergent pollute our waterways. We were there 4 nights with two kids in one of the rooms with city view. The kids argued who could sleep nearest the window so they best could enjoy the view. Ended up getting two nights each :) Great breakfast, enjoyable rooftop area with pool/bar and helpfull staff. Also the beds might have been the best I have ever experienced in a hotel. The downsides were a bit too small rooms for 2 adults and 2 children and hotel placement. You basically have to use Subway/tram/taxi to get to any of the tourist attractions. Also The waterquality in the pool could have been better.

the swimming pool water is in a very strange color, not really attractive as per the photos on the website, especially when we look at the swimming pool just next door. The next door swimming pool water looks so clean and nice. There's no sun umbrella to cover the sun.

So disappointed with this hotel. Gold status barely recognised, no water in room. Leaking air conditioner which made the room always smell damp. Breakfast was terrible. The hotel was full with about hundreds of children always running around and playing in the lifts

Novotel Barcelona City is an amazing place to stay while you’re in Barcelona. Close to heaps of local restaurants and across the road is a huge shopping centre that has an amazing supermarket with everything you could ever possibly need. We got upgraded to an executive suite and they fill our bar fridge with complimentary drinks and beer every day!!! Most evenings there is a free featured DJ on the rooftop bar near the pool which is a great way to relax after a busy day in the sun. We loved it and can’t wait to go back:-)
