I think it is rather discriminating that you charge heavily for small domestic animals, especially when you often have offers with 2 children free of charge including breakfirst. This will make me search for another hotel that appreciate our costum.

« Family Short Break »

The Hotel was situated very close to the Metro system, which made it easy for sightseeing. Our Family room was very comfortable and clean with a nice bathroom. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The Restaurant had a good choice of food available together with a children’s menu. We were lucky to get an upgrade to a room with a city view on the 18th floor. Our visit to the Roof terrace for a drink was a nice relaxing time. I would definitely use the Novotel Barcelona City again.

Been there in februari. Extreme friendly and Professional staff. Super clean rooms. We had a superior suite which was very big and magnificent vieuws over Barcelona. A good starting point to explore all the sites. Super breakfast altough very crowded. So please read the notice in the lift about breakfast.

First time I stayed at this hotel and they surprised me with a lovely room with a great view towards Sagrada Familia. The top floor bar will also be very nice in summer.

We continue to pick Novotel because we know we can expect a comfortable room of high quality for a decent price. This particular hotel is a little away from the city center, but well situated near a modern shopping center with many conveniences, as well as good transport links (metro and tram). The breakfast was excellent and the view from our room was amazing. Check in was a little 'rough' in that it took some time and guests were becoming impatient. I think the staff could have been a little more warm and friendly as it felt a little cold and routine, but this was a minor details and would not drive me to choose a different hotel.

« A surprisingly pleasant stay »

I was pleasantly surprised on my first visit to Barcelona. Although I had not booked a hotel very close to the centre, the location of this hotel close to the Metro station of Line 1 meant that the city centre and all the main landmarks were within an acceptable travelling distance. Even more welcome was the very friendly and helpful staff that greeted me at the reception. They made sure all my questions were answered, and even found the museum opening times for me so I didn't have to spend any time on that. The hotel provides a complete breakfast service, there is plenty of choice and ample space. The rooftop view is also impressive and the bar on that floor offers you a relaxing atmosphere with a nice view of the city. The hotel is certainly recommended for business people and tourists alike. The shopping centre at the other side of the street gives you a choice of main brands, for all your needs, including a quick bite. A main dish at the hotel is very affordable as well. And the price at this time of the season was irresistible. Knowing that Barcelona has a rich cultural heritage, museums, galleries, etc., and even during a rainy day, this hotel is a good starting point to discover it.

Room and hotel was great, breakfast is a very unpleasant experience. Food is bad, set up is unpleasant, coffee is terrible. The express breakfast at the bar is far better.

We booked this for our anniversary not one mention of this on arrival even though I added it to notes and emailed hotel prior. Our suite ocerlooked a building site not the city view we hoped. Building work also should started around 630am

The receptionist took half an hour to check me in, required additional information and confirmation, after which took her 2 hours to send an e-mail (I suppose I was unlucky to catch her just before lunch break). Since my stay was one night only, with strictly business purpose, I was not thrilled at having to convince the reception lady that I am not an international credit card fraud. The elevators didn't work properly and specifically didn't always stop on the 16th floor. This would not have been a problem if the staircase was an option. Unfortunately in this hotel the staircase doors open in one direction only (to the staircase) - no signs about this anyway. And once you try to reach the 16th floor from the 18th you realize that you have to climb all the way down to the reception floor (just below the first floor) and try to convince the elevator to kindly stop at your own again! Overall the stay was unsatisfying and stressful. I would not recommend this particular hotel.

When the registration staff asked me to verify the credit card holder, it took them 2 hours to send the document via e-mail, which resulted in me having to skip half of a lecture (the specific purpose of my stay was a workshop and symposium of ESHRE). I was required to leave my own bank card as a guarantee for the minibar (the first time a hotel requires something like that in my experience) or a cash deposit (again first time) although the cardholder send a lot of personal information via e-mail. The elevators rarely worked and if I wanted to use the stairs, I had to walk down from the 16th floor to the reception and then try to convince another elevator to without an option to move between floors (since the elevator wouldn't stop on the 16th floor I tried to get up by the stairs from the 14th). Apparently not an option in this hotel!

For security reasons they work entering the room card and selecting the floor you want to go. I have made some tests and all the lifts stpped in all the floors.
