« Pretty good but problems with stained bed linen on both beds »

The room was clean and pretty much as I expected as I have stayed a number of times previously although the furniture is looking a little 'tired'. I would have preferred a room overlooking the courtyard area but our view was over the car park, which is not particularly nice. We had to ask for our bed linen to be changed as we found there to be stained - one looked like fried blood on the quilt and the other appeared to be a small oil like stain on the bed sheet. We informed the lovely young man with the French accent at the desk and he arranged to have the bed linen changed, which was great. We dined at the restaurant on the first night and the food was good. Breakfast the following morning was OK.

One thing I would like to see is making the two 600ml bottles of water complimentary to your guests, if they choose to take them. At the moment they are free for (Accor?) members but for non members they are charged to the room.

« Experience would have been great bar the strong paint fumes which left me Ill on first night. »

The room was of a high standard, but was spoilt by the strong paint fumes. It should have been left to air for a few days prior to occupation. Breakfast was also of a very high standard. Service ,good. Hotel very clean.

I had been looking for a place to stay in Canberra and always find it frustrating looking on-line but when I was able actually call the hotel and speak with someone I was surprised that it was the hotel and this enabled me to discuss the various accommodation options. The discussions led me to select the courtyard view room that proved very nice looking out onto the courtyard garden. The staff were able to provide that local knowledge that makes any good trip into a special trip away. The Courtyard Restaurant food and staff were outstanding. Oh the food, We selected the Truffle trio that proved absolutely amazing and because the restaurant was quite while we dinning we felt that we had our own private chef and waiter. In fact I haven't stopped talking about the experience since returning home. The fact that I have taken the time comment tells you that it wasn't just another few days away from home that would have resulted in "delete" to the survey request. Well done Mercure Canberra. I only wish I could remember the names of the wonderful staff. Please pass on my thanks. Regards Jeff

Mid winter warmth in Canberra - the Mercure will appeal to those looking for an old world feel and good pub style food. Not my first stay nor likely my last. A 10 minute or so walk to Canberra Centre.

« The Mecure Canberra is a lovely hotel and staff were extremely helpful and abliging »

The rooms were very clean and well maintained. We found that the breakfast was great and plenty of variety. With dinner we had to book which was no problem but when you are told there is a 45 minute wait on your main this is an issue that should be addressed. we found that there was not enough staff to cater for the amount of tables. The girl that saw us when we came to diner was also taking the orders and running between both positions. which we found was hard to place an order and receive our meals.

We had an excellent time at the hotel. The room was upgraded for one with a bath which was great as we were at a trade show on our feet all day so to come home to a hot bath was heaven. The room was fantastic and we had a drink in the bar on several occasions as well. Staff were very friendly and helpfull

It was refreshing to stay at a place where pets are welcome. The access to all areas, except for the Restaurant was much appreciated, and the outdoor area for our dog as well. Would highly recommend to everyone to stay there

This is a very old heritage listed hotel. The room was so small there was no room for suitcases. The toilet / shower was equally as small. The floor boards inside our room creaked and noises from othe guests in the hallway outside were quite audible.

If you are after something modern and newer, may I recommend Hotel Hotel in New Acton. Our hotel was one of the first building IN Canberra built in 1927 and it is a famous venue for the local, once called Ainslie Rex and then Olims. Lovely historic building, close to the city’s attractions. Friendly welcoming staff, great food at the bistro. A little disappointed the restaurant wasn’t open for dinner but they did a great breakfast.

« Great to be able to have our fur children with us »

It was great to be able to stay in a motel that cares as much as we do for our fur children, it was great to be able to let them into their own little run to be able to stretch their legs and do what dogs need to do. The only problem that we had was not enough seating in the room to have a meal, only 1 chair at a table and a single seater lounge, perhaps a 2 seat lounge and a little bit bigger dining table with 2 chairs!!

Staff were very helpful and friendly, rooms were clean. Strong smell of paint in the hallway was a bit overpowering and no fire in the lounge took away one of the main reasons for choosing the hotel. Whilst breakfast was great value it was not up to its usual standard and staff seemed disinterested. Reception staff are awesome and make the stay very pleasant.
