Very Good location and the price was great. The staff were nice and approachable. The place was near to restaurants, cafe, shops and other business establishments at the city of Melbourne. The room was safe. Need a little bit check on the water pressure of the shower. The toilet over all performance was clean and nice,

Bit mixed, because I was only booked for 2 nights, for a couple of days in the city, before an early morning flight to Arrowtown, NZ! BUT because of my daughter's baby unsettlement, I added 3 days ( early) to leave Beck Adam & wee Lachie ( 8 months) a bit more space in a 2 bedroom townhouse.... so all could get some sleep! BUT because I had pre-paid from NZ for the LAST 2 NIGHTS, I got a heavy priced to NOT switch rooms for 3 nights, then go to my original booking! WHY could I not just extend without a new booking?? And have to pay up to not move rooms?? And as and extra, of course, was the FIRE ALARM, that kept on going, with no staff update for 3 hours, from 5.30am in the morning in Pants & Jacket! Many in Pajama's! with no shoes etc..... Yes I got moved as my room 5103, was partially flooded! etc... etc....

Woken up before 0600hrs with loud noises from outside, before the fire alarm When arriving the room had a bad odour $20 a day parking a bit stiff. Not enough coffee & tea.

Stay was good. The only complaint would be when we were evacuated nobody told us what was going on. It seemed like no staff knew either. Just a brief statement would have helped

Except for the interruptions of the fire alarm and mass evacuation early one morning, it was an reasonable and comfortable stay. I am concerned that it took more than 30minutes for the Fire Brigade to respond and for the lack of communications from hotel staff during this period. The letter from the general manager to apologise for the disruption did not give any information either.Most people are reasonable and would show understanding if given information. As it is, we do not know if it was a false alarm, a technical incident or a real fire.

It was all easy and convenient. No problems in parking nor waiting to retrieve my car from the hotel parking. All facilities (gym, spa, pool, sauna, Foxtel etc) I needed. Nice and clean and no hassle. Staff are courteous and friendly.

« Nice place and staff, not the best stay though »

The room was nice as always, staff were friendly and the breakfast was very nice. But with what happened with the fire alarm, standing in the street and getting moved room to room to get a shower was poorly handled. To leave your guests standing in the street, some of whom were elderly and not bring out a towel or a blanket to try and keep them warm for the 60-90 minutes we were out there I felt was disappointing. Whilst our stays here have always been very good, I felt the little things were either missed or done poorly. Sometimes it’s events like this that show us what we need to improve and I hope that’s what happens here, even though hopefully it won’t ever happen again. It has altered our perception of The Vic hotel and we are thinking we will be staying elsewhere from now on. Sorry but I felt it best to be honest.

« Basics OK. Air Conditioning Poor. Handling of Fire very poor. »

The hotel is very hot overall. That's OK but I could not get my room cool. I set the Air to 16 but it remained warm and probably about 22. There was a fire at 6.30 am while I was there. The hotel staff handled this poorly. People were on the footpath in PJ's and cold. No-one came out with blankets or similar. No-one from the hotel wore any hi-vis or appeared to be in charge. The crowd was not addressed in any way to inform them of what was going on.

« Charged wrongly and no refund »

Dear Ibis For the first time during my many stays with Ibis, I am very dissatisfied. This is for two reasons. 1. When I returned home, I looked at my invoice and it was for $135. When I booked at the counter, the customer service person at the desk told me the cost would be $108. 2. I had made a mistake regarding the date of stay when booking online direct through Ibis. Instead of booking for the 9th Oct, I accidentally booked for the 29th Oct. When I arrived at the hotel on the 9th to check in, I was told that my booking was not refundable or even exchangeable for a new booking for that night (the one referred to above). I certainly had not picked up the fact that it was non-refundable during the booking process. I don't refute that this information was in the fine print somewhere but it was definitely easy to overlook. If I had booked through a third party, (e.g., Trivago) I suspect it would have been refundable as many hotels are. This has totally put me off using Ibis and also in booking with them direct. I ended up paying $242 for a very average room in Melbourne CBD and at the further expense of a great deal of frustration at Ibis' service. I find it very unsatisfactory that I could not exchange or obtain a refund for a mistake made during the online booking. There would have been no cost to Ibis to have allowed this. Yours faithfully

Not too bad except for the Fire Alarm= went on too long, lack of update on what was happening, took over 25 minutes from first bell to any Emergency services arriving! No traffic management plan, as cars & trucks still driving through the narrow street.... 3 people wandering out, eyes possibly Glazed, nearly run over! (A police problem as Fire Service said not theirs!!) ?? My room was partially flooded (5013) from the event, and so no Shower etc... until evacuated! Outside windows cobwebs, shower fan in room very dirty. Maybe washed out from the water flowing down at said event!
