« Very nice hotel - well situated by Malboro road »

We had a Superior room for four nights, it was enough for the two of us, we do not stay in room on travels. Most of our friends had De Luxe rooms, which are in newer building and bigger. We also had the Sulatn Suite, I don't think I would necessarily need that unless three people. Breakfast is very very nice and you can choose from amazing variety of food. Service is excellent no matter what. Dinner and Bar, everything is just thumbs up for The Phoenix in Yogja. :-)

Overall stay was great. Service was quick and whenever I request something, it gets resolved within minutes. The area that I would like to point is the guest amenities - during my stay, we received bath towels which looks a bit worn out.

It’s a very beautiful and very well conserved building. Great pool and good rooms. Although they should renovate some bathroom towels they look kind of old.

« Great... but.. »

First looking for parking the staff are very friendly. On the check in counter also giving a great services, warm and friendly. For the entire staff services are very great Than in the room. We tries within Deluxe king with pool view. Room are clean and neat but with this price i should get a bathup The towel i get when im arrive is very lousy and needs to be replace. It is very no no no for the 5stars hotel but in generally the room are ok. Going to breakfast this property serves not a lot of variety food and the taste needs to be improve to be much better. Keep up the good work

« Very disappointing »

Room not clean, food terrible quality and overprice, bar creepy, cocktail not professional. Very disappointing from a MGallery by Sofitel perspective. Location is great and the staff is smiling but they don't speak english so it make things even more complicate. Swimming pool was crowded but from external people, not very nice when you pay to stay in a hotel and don't have the quiet rest you expect next to the pool.

Generally satisfied, but many minor faults. E.g. removed used shampoo, shower gel without replacement. Often disturbed by the noise of neighbouring room or nearbymosque because of thin walls.

« Hotel with character but badly needed renovation »

A nice authentic old building with excellent location near Malioboro but the rooms and corridors looks very tired. The cupboard doors poped out from their hinges. It’s been a long time since someone clean the dirty AC outlet. Breakfast spread was excellent, and the restaurant staffs were very attentive. The reception staff can be better; during the checked in process we were asked to wait on the table full of used glasses from the previous patron. No one seems to notice that, and even almost forget to offer us with the welcome drinks.

« The staff excellent, but the rest was average »

The staff are excellent, they are very nice only 1 male receptionist that I met on Dec 28 nigh so so friendly (forgot to look at the name) The first room (367) are very far away (in the corner) from the elevator it's dangerous and scary to be in that room if emergency happened. The second room located at first floor (162), location is nice in front of the pool, however the room quality was bad, not clean enough, the door key of bathroom is broken, the deposit box was broken (cannot be closed) and the water temperature was difficult to set. The food at the breakfast was bad, the taste were poor, the quality of food must be fixed.

« Great hospitality, True Java heritage atmosphere »

Was spending time here with my girlfriend for Christmas. It also was my first time experiencing Yogyakarta and I can say this was a great experience to stay here. The location was very strategic, the atmosphere was also really nice with Javanese culture in every corner of the hotel. Cleanliness was great, the breakfast was also really nice, it varied from traditional to western food. Surely will consider to stay here again next time we come to Yogyakarta. Thank you so much!

« Beautiful Phoenix! »

The hotel is beautiful! I love colonial style and I wish I could have stayed there longer. Phoenix is living history. All staff were very kind and helpful. I loved many features of the hotel: the decoration of the room, the pool, the lobby, the hotel tour.

« Good stay but room to improve »

Comfortable clean room but towels are old, thin / not fluffy/ not plush and with dirty marks. Xmas dinner disappointing as no stuffing with turkey, no brown gravy for roast Steaks and Yorkshire puddings and no mint sauce for roast lamb! Chef seems not aware what should be served with these traditional measl?!

« A night at Phoenix Jogjakarta »

For me m, staying in 5 star hotel is my sanctuary. A short getaway from daily routine. So i have such a high expectation from these 5star hotels, since i have to spend quite big amount of money on it. Too bad, i didnt find it at Phoenix Jogja. The receptionist was polite, but didnt feel sincere. They didnt make me feel like im home once i stepped in. I even have to usher myself to find room 244. After went to the wrong tower (front tower), i finally found my room. Room was oke, but then when i turned on the TV, i found out that the picture was to blurry. And at midnight, the AC made super disturbing noise. Nothing special from breakfast. In my opinion, it was below 5 star breakfast hotel standard. Ordered apple juice, and they didnt send me one. Its about human resources, they have to learn more about 5 star hotel service from other city / country. So, for a room worth 2,4mio / night , it wasnt worth it.

« Great hotel and staff »

The hotel was lovely, great food, good location. We used the spa/massage services and would recommend them also. One of the best things about the hotel is the staff - they were so friendly and helpful and always interested in having a chat. A special mention to one of the staff (Herman) - he recommended that we have the multiple course dinner of the local food and he was so helpful in explaining each dish and the local significance! Would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends (in fact my brother had recommended it to me!).
