« Excellent value but I won’t be back »

There are a lot of good things about this hotel, ie large room, good internet, clean modern rooms, very good breakfast buffet. The room was quiet at night and I had a good nights sleep. The staff were friendly and professional. The major draw back for me was the bath. I like to soak in a large bath when I stay in a hotel. The bath was too small for this and was awkwardly positioned between the door way and over hanging sink. Unfortunately this is a deal breaker for me and I would not stay again. I accept not many others would be put off by this though.

Lovely hotel close right in the centre. So close to shops, bars and restaurants. We were completely overwhelmed that we were upgraded to executive suit and to have a plate of cakes so kind. The staff are extremely friendly and have a great can do attitude. SOOOOO clean and tidy. The room was so comfortable. Wonderful breakfast with only a small moan that the back bacon was horrid, there was more fat than meat (sorry to mention this but if you don't know then you cant improve). The NCP car park is really easy although a little expensive but I guess that's the same with all city hotels. Once again thank you for a lovey stay x

From check in to check out the staff went out of their way to go the extra mile to make our stay special. Marta on reception had arranged a beautiful birthday plate in our room for my daughter; prepared by Noy and had upgraded us to a fantastic executive room. The leisure facilities are fantastic. We had a wonderful weekend in Reading staying at this lovely hotel. This is our second stay in an Accor hotel in two months and we have been happily surprised by the standards and excellent customer service we have received.

My favorite part was the dark haired bartender lady (Name Lorraine?), she was very nice and remembered my name and drink each day. The room was comfortable, but it was not easy to regulate the temperature. The thermostat seemed to have a mind of its own. Also the bathroom sink had unpleasant smells coming from the drain.

« Good location for a off-site meeting with comfortable rooms and friendly service »

This is the third year that I have hosted a management meeting at the Novotel in Reading. The venue is comfortable, well run, with friendly staff and in a convenient location. I have scored 8/10 because of a couple of things; 1) On the first day of our 2 day meeting, the business office was unmanned for much of the day, and at breaks it was difficult to get refresh of water, coffee and milk with staff hard to find. 2) Overall the meeting rooms were looking a bit tired, the projector had a flicker when used with some PCs and was momentarily interupped when other pcs were plugged into power sockets.

« Poorly maintained hotel and luke warm room service food »

The hotel is being poorly maintained. One lift was not working and it took a long time for the only other lift to arrive, sometimes so long I took the stairs from the 7th floor. The stairs had treads missing and were dangerous. The carpet in front of the lift on the 7th floor was sticking up and was a trip hazard ( I pushed it down for safety and reported it). I ordered some room service for dinner, the food was not covered on arrival and was luke warm. I was charged alot of money for this basic food including a £5 tray charge. I'm not the complaining type so I didn't raise all these issues with the hotel as I just wanted to relax and enjoy my weekend. But you asked for feedback to help you improve. The room was nice and staff friendly.

The Novotel in Reading is very well located, near the station and in the town centre. We had a warm welcome and our room had everything you could wish for ncluding a wonderful view. Very good value. The Lounge and bar area was attractive and busy. We had a good night's sleep and enjoyed the hot buffet breakfast - but, as in many hotels, the plates were cold. We will certainly stay here again when next visiting the area.

Breakfast could have been a bit more better and eggs were not cooked to perfection and hot breakfast was almost cold by the time we got down for Breakfast, out of 3 lifts only one was working and our room key was not working with outside doors apart from that we have enjoyed our stay and probably would come back

« It was OK. Very expensive (though my company was paying) with little included in the room rate. »

I was amazed that at £164 / night there was no breakfast included. But the rate for breakfast at £10 was relatively cheap!! Room (1005) didn't feel "superior / deluxe" - carpet was filthy (needing washing), the plug in the bathroom basin didn't allow water to drain (removing it did) and the toilet was separate to the rest of the bathroom. Food in restaurant seemed more reheated than cooked, and hot breakfast looked horrible - undercooked and warm (as opposed to hot) and looked like it had been better earlier in the day.
