I was working in Winnersh Triangle and - as you might see from my review - stayed at the Travelodge there but wasn't happy. So for a change I tried the Ibis in Reading and travelled by train to work each day. As a typical Ibis - which I know from many other stays in other ones - it was fine and I have no major complaint about the room except perhaps the noisy airconditioner but that wasn't a huge problem. Thankfully my request for a quiet room was accepted and so I slept well. The best thing about the hotel was not actually the hotel(!) but the position. A three minute walk to the main station was ideal, but the main thing for me was the closeness of some excellent restaurants. Fair enough, I am a cheapskate but I know what I like. There was a McDonald's about 150 metres away for breakfast, and a Nando's even closer. I also can recommend the Revolucion de Cuba over the road for anyone like me that likes Spanish food. So all-in-all a great stay - I hope my review helps anybody else with the same type of requirements as me. It is a bit expensive for an Ibis, but then we're talking about a central city location, and anyway, hotels seem quite dear in Reading generally.

« It was a bit stressful, One of the cleaners was starting at every level on the way down from floor nine because the customer was getting in the lift! »

I was nervous about being dissatisfied because I have been in a London lBIS last year There were a lot of things that could’ve been done much better There is a lot of things that should be done to improve customer satisfaction On the way to breakfast there was a cleaner in the lift who tutted every time the lift stopped to let a customer in! On the way back from breakfast there were about eight cleaners who got into my lift sticking boxes in my face chattering away and being totally disrespectful to the fact that I am there My key card didn’t work I have to go back down and wait in the queue I was late for my lecture it was very stressful. I think in future if a customer is in the lif the cleaners should wait and take the next lift If they are going to behave like that I should’ve asked for a refund. The only saving grace was the girl I think she was called magdella or something was on reception that evening who fixed my light bulb and was very sweet And the charming guy at breakfast he was just a little bit enthusiastic and warm. The girls and reception when I arrived with neither here nor there really I felt like I was a bit of an inconvenience checking and actually it was a whole disaster I didn’t enjoy it at all and I wouldn’t stay there again

I stayed at this site for 3 nights while on a business trip. I have no major complaints about my stay, but I do think there were a number of quality of life improvements that could be made fairly easily that would make the place a 10. It's hard to define the good things, because mostly it's things that aren't bad until you notice them that you care about. However, I did like the layout and decoration of the lobby. The staff were all friendly and accommodating, and quick to notice guests who wanted attention. The location was particularly fantastic. On the flip side, there were a number of small things I felt weren't ideal. I appreciate friendly staff as much as the next person, but I don't need to be greeted every time I walk past the help desk, especially if I'm looking in a different direction. I actually noticed a manager was doing this too - a hands-on manager is great, but they surely have better things to do than stand by the help desk some mornings greeting people who walk past. It really felt like there was a policy of always greeting guests with a phrase rather than just a smile, and to me that's over-doing it. In my room, there were a few other small complaints. Tetley's tea is a bit grim. Perhaps it's cost prohibitive to have Twinings or Yorkshire Tea in every room, but PG Tips is surely a better, realistic alternative. Also, there has to be a better chair available than a plastic one. Or even if you do choose a plastic one, can it be one that you can fit a coat over the back of? Final issue with the room - the shower required constant readjustment. Maybe this isn't true of all rooms, but my room definitely had a problem there. Pressure was fine, and I actually quite liked the double doors showerroom. But it was either too hot or too cold, so I had to change it every 30 seconds or so. Lastly, and on the same note as the Tetley's tea - the breakfast only had streaky bacon. It was otherwise perfectly fine, but the lack of proper bacon was...weird. What's that all about. Couldn't hurt to have an ale (let's face it, Guinness) on tap instead of Bud light either.

liked the room - clean, modern lines. topper mattress worked well. shower was fine. shower gel smelt nice and "foresty". reception were friendly and efficient. using WhatsApp instead of a phone was an excellent communication between me and reception. didn't have brekkie because I don't. THE AIRCON didn't seem to work so I was cold. Picked up a heater from reception - one leg missing, no PAT test cert on it but it helped. I didn't dare leave it on at night because i had it balanced on a tooth mug made of plastic. So for anyone in 1007, they're going to be cold because it didn't get fixed in the day that I was out and probably still isn't fixed

Normally great. This time the room was to hot and I discovered the air conditioning wasn't working. Would probably have been fine if they acknowledged the problem and offered a room change but having to argue for half hour before they even went to check that the issue existed is not really on. Ended up leaving after they said a manager would be in touch the next day about requesting a refund which I had no faith in and guess what.. I didn't get a call.

Our Ibis hotels have an ‘air cooling’ system in place which does differ from air conditioning and this system is partly dependant on the external temperature. According to expected weather conditions for the time of year, the heating was on rather than the cooling system. As in actuality it was unseasonably warm at the time of your stay, I can only apologize if this system was not sufficiently effective on this occasion. That's why the staff did not offer to change the room but offered a fan instead. Once again I do apologize for all inconvenience and please do let me know if you are planning to come back to Reading and I will offer something for you. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. I stayed with my 11 year old daughter for one night. The neighbours TV was on late, then our sleep was nterrupted several tmes durng the night by noisy parties of people speakng loudly. My daught also complained that the mattress was too hard.

My stay was really comfortable ! Two staff on arrival were polite and smart.Think offering which floor would the customer like to sleep,NOT just offer high level.My girlfriend had a stick and is classed as disabled which presuming The male staff,didnt see her stick. which wasnt a problem.The staff happy changed rooms quick. Rooms fine clean and smell all ok.

The stay was ok but the shower has still terrible water pressure. The breakfast was always good but now the fruitsalad made place for some unidentifiable brownish fruit and the nice cheese has been replaced with some slices of “plastic” cheddar.
