« 5 Star service in a historic building. »

The Sofitel in Munich,Germany is a special gem in a big city.When you walk in this place you get a feeling of what it was like when it was a post office.The way they converted it to modern European is remarkable.The staff is very attentive and friendly.We needed information from the concierge who was very helpful and informative on knowledge of the city and its services.The room was excellent and the maid service also very good.We had the breakfast buffet which had a variety of food items to choose from.We had dinner in the main restaurant whoch was good but pricey.The menu was small and the same during the week.Usually a main course comes with a side dish but we had to pay extra for it without being notified of the extra charge.It seems to be a good place for business meetings as many were being held at the hotel during our stay.

« Beautiful hotel, great rooms BUT if the window cannot be opened .......... »

As on several previous occassions also now I really liked the atmosphere of the hotel. Everything looks well maintained and beautiful. The rooms as well. Unfortunately the window in my room could not be opened (although I had specifically requested a room where this was possible) and so I had to sleep with the airconditioning on. I don't like that and I do not sleep well without fresh air. I have now understood that I should have booked a cheaper room and than you have a window that opens. I found that a bit silly that I did not get such a room since I had specifically asked for it during online check-in. However the hotel is great but has for me one big disadvantage.

« Service at the restaurant/bar was inadequate »

The service at the restaurant - bar was very disappointing We met as an iBM group to have dinner at the hotel at 20:15 only to find that the restaurant closed at 20:00 due to a function the hotel was hosting. We waited then for 40 mins in the bar to order bar food/room service menu and it took 40 mins then to arrive. We had to ask the waiter twice if the food order was coming. On top of that when we finished eating we waited with our dirty plates for 10-15 mins before they were removed. On top of that I called to reception to ask for an iron and was advised that the receptionist would call House Keeping to enquire and let me know - I did not receive a call back from either the receptionist or house keeping and had to go to my conference without the use of the iron. Overall i was disappointed with the service levels at the hotel given that is is a 5 star establishment.

« Not a comfortable update »

The updated property looks striking but we found the lighting and design harsh. The room was small, complicated, hard, and harsh. Not a place that felt relaxing or welcoming. Spent a lot of time bumping into things and trying to find and figure out controls. On a very hot day, the air conditioning couldn't not be lowered below 18 degrees C.

As always, my experience at Sofitel Munich has been great starting with the Concierge team and ending with the reception team. Check-in was smooth and even though my room was not already immediately, by the time we returned from shopping our room was ready and luggage brought in our room already. Breakfast excellent as always with special treat on Easter Sunday. It would have been wonderful if we had a special Easter treat in our room on Easter night (Saturday evening) , something such as an Easter egg/chocolate which would have been much appreciated. Room was very clean, newly renovated and bed so comfortable. Special thanks to the Management team who welcomes back so nicely loyal travellers to Munich Sofitel.

Fantastic customer service, unexpected yet very much appreciated upgrade on arrival, very friendly staff and amazing room standards. Unfortunately I was short of time and could not relish of your breakfast, next time I will rate that too. Lovely stay in a five stars facility!

« Great Location, Nice Rooms But Disaster Service »

We stayed for 3 nights, check-in was smooth Ref# FGJDMVHQ, enjoyed the location and easy access, hotel and rooms where nicely setup and decorate, Yet the service level was horrible and below standard - We requested King bed and it was two single bed attached with a sheet (somehow acceptable) but not with two single duvets, we called reception (no housekeeping calling button) gave them our request for king size duvet,shortly staff came at the same time were ready to go out, we left him to do the bed, few hours later we came and found nothing was done, still two singe duvets. We called again, few mins later the same staff with his colleague came saying rudely and with no respect he started dont you see this is king size bed and not single, I have mentioned that we are asking for king size duvet and he was still arguing with us that this was not our request (internal communication gaps hould not be our issue) so I have politely told this is not what is expected from 5 star hotel and asked him to leave the room mentioning that I will report this to management. - We asked for weight scale and after aprox 15 mins wait the housekeeping staff knocked the door with cotton puds, we asked for two toothbrush we got one. - at check-in we requested to store couple of big bags, so when we needed them again I went down and gave the bellman the two tickets and our room number, I have waited 20 mins but nothing arrived, again went down asking the bellman he said the other bag is yet to be brought, I mentioned I am in hurry I need them urgently he open nearby door and bring the other bag and I have to take them both to my rooms. - it was my wife birthday and mention that at booking time so they can do something like room arrangement/ and proving higher level room, and also sent another reminder email and got their reply "We already have all informations and will prepare everything." nothing was prepared and was given room with lowest floor with no view or direct sunlight overlooking the cafe/lobby seating. I sent another reminder asking about cake menu but was told treatment on it way now. - I asked the reception for a cake for my wife Birthday but the kitchen was not helpful, there was full cake on the bar so asked them only to write a message it was delivered 35 mins later. - We requested late checkout & offered 1 pm which I refused, after getting ready for checkout & asking the reception to collect our bag they called offering 2:30 which was too late to offer.

Very good service, extremely kind reception and quality treats. Great Spa manage in a very professional manner but we didn't used the sauna or hamam as not used to nude areas. Location is handy to reach the Center in 5 minute walk.

First Miss.English make my stay very easy on she had a wonderful welcoming.. she is one have best attitude.. room is luxury ,, hi teck,, clean , bed comfortable, all very good .. but housekeeping need more experience. Not good Internet very bad..

« Poor -- this luxury hotel does not get the basics right »

- internet was broken... This hitel does not manage this fix this issue that pops up every now and then for the past five years - reception staff is a bit arrogant - i could not be seated at the breakfast. When i asked to have a coffee for take away, they poured together cold coffe from several used table pots. Seriously...
