« Best Accor Hotel Yet »

This is the best Accor group hotel I have stayed at (over 50). The Hotel is fantastically located and you have 2 options close by for entertainment or food. Turn left out of the hotel and sharp left again will take you down to Grindel which is a village and runs for 2kms. This will cater for those seeking a calmer atmosphere. However if you exit the hotel and cross the road and then walk back to the train station (Sternschanze) and 200 yards beyond you will discover the vibrant area of Schulterblatt, which is the main area for night life and feed. The centre of Hamburg, main station is only 2 stops away and takes 7 minutes and the Harbour Landungsbrücken is also close and 3 stops away. Staff could not do more to help make your stay special. As high as I rate them, this is a genuine report and you can read my report on the Mercure Mitte Berlin to see that I can also be highly critical.

Typical Mercure. Rooms are OK for business traveler, clean, good looking. Breakfast acceptable. What I cannot understand is that in a 4 stars I have to carry my toothbrush. This is the 21st century, everyone brushes their teeth!

The Mercure Hotel Hamburg Mitte has a very good location easy to acces and with an underground parking. Very close to several bars and restaurants within walking distance. A very nice and servicefrindly staff to welcome and to serve you. A very nice room and a great breakfast buffet - I highly recommend this hotel :-)

Basic things, that were part of the package at purchase like newspaper and late check out was not provide - don't offer it, and then don't provide it. The English skills of the front desk personnel could be better - small vocabulary can quickly be misunderstood as rudeness. Very loud cleaning staff, enter the room despite dnd sign on the door. The room was not very soundproof, the noise from the upstairs room was very loudly in our room.

I stayed at this hotel for four nights. I checked in online and was assured that I would have access to my room when i came to the hotel. When I arrived it was not yet ready. Things like this happens so we went into town. But this was only the beginning! I then got a text that our room key was ready so we returned to the hotel, but the guy in the reception told me that the room wasnt yet ready. Finally at 3 pm we got the room. Being an accorhotel goldmember I expected better service than this. When we got to the room it was really small and the bed was a queen bed (that is ok for one person, but not for two). It had only two pillows and one blanket so I assumed we got a single room, but it turned out two be a room for two! We had to ask for another blanket and that came, but I also asked for an upgrade to a room with a larger bed, again being a gold member, but was told that the hotel was fully booked. It was only for the two of us to squeeze into that tiny bed. Last time I stayed at this hotel four years ago it had a relax area and a gym. Now this was gone. The guy in the reception was new and didnt know anything about that and had not any suggestions where to work out. When we finally was about to check out the girl in the reception told us that the room wasn't fully paied although it was. Now i really snapped. Finally the manager came and found the payment and they appologized for that. Conclusion: In this hotel you don't feel any special treatment at all. The sign outside states its a 4 star hotel. I've stayed at ibis-hotels (2-3 star hotels) with better service and larger rooms and beds than this Mercure hotel. 3 stars the most I say! Here you pay alot for nothing! The only thing that was really splendid was the service in the breakfast room and the staff there is really nice. But... I will not stay at this hotel ever again!

To be honest, if you let me in to this hotel without telling me what it was and which star rating it had, I would've thought it was a 3-star with poor customer service. The staff at the reception desk looked like they couldn't be bothered to go through the most basic motions of check in (rolling eyes to my question about wifi access), the room had a dinghy feel about it, with one relatively small and very thin duvet on the bed, multiple dirty streaks on the walls (luggage?), small bathroom with a shower cabin requiring touching up... I honestly did not expect this kind of ambience from Mercure.

Hotel is nice, I just loved marine style decoration of lobby with super comfortable armchairs. Our room was quite small, I was expecting bigger one. Wi-Fi connection is very low, barely could load a web page.

We stayed here a few years ago and were looking forward to some down time after a family reunion. We had booked a superior room with courtyard view to avoid street noise. The room appeared to be the same as the standard rooms shown on the website and lacked the addition chairs, side table etc. shown on the website. The VIP bathroom was indistinguishable from standard and lacked the bath! Tea and coffee making facilities amounted to a tassimo machine with inadequate instructions and a very limited range of beverages, only coffee, decaf coffee and Earl Grey Tea. Lack of a basic breakfast tea either in the room or from the service staff was disappointing. The included daily newspaper never appeared. The double bed simply was not. It was just two single beds pushed together, separate matrasses and duvets. It was a cold period and the warm air room heating was rather noisy as was the howling of the wind from the poor seals on the window which interrupted any chance of a good nights sleep. Previously we had enjoyed good food and wine in the hotel restaurant which featured regional specialities. Sadly this has been replaced with a basic grill and bar snack service. Paid parking was indicated on the website but on arrival I was amazed to find this was being charged at 20 Euro per day. Looking at the Hamburg.com tourist site is says "Parking in Hamburg is rather inexpensive. In some areas close to the city centre, parking is even free of charge if you don't mind a short walk." I do feel at the very least they need to be more transparent about this charge and clearly state it on the website. When asking reception staff for assistance / clarification on these issues, with one exception, there was a complete indifference which we had not encountered at Accor hotels before. Overall we were very disappointed.

Our privilege rooms are bigger than our standard rooms and have additional services included, but not all rooms do have the small table and chairs which in the room. Also I will give feedback to our technician who will check the heating right away for the room in which you have stayed. Of course you also have the possibility to use a parking space in the surrounding of our hotel, but here there are no spaces guaranteed and they are outside. in general we receive rather good feedback for our new RELAX-bar. If this concept does not fit for you please ask our colleagues: I am sure they can suggest you several restaurants nearby which fits your needs. We are sorry that we have left this impression to you. The hotel was ideally located for navigating Hamburg and it's regionS and sights. Rooms were great. Service was great. Staff were famtastic. They even invited us out with them on a night out which was an experience. The only criticism was the money exchange in the hotel, as they never had any currency available
