I hadn't planned to stay at this hotel (or even in Düsseldorf) but both Mercure Oberhausen and Accor Customer Services ignored 2 emails each about problems with booking that hotel. The plus side of their rudeness was that I discovered the Mercure Düsseldorf City Center where everything was good from the moment I arrived. Check-in was quick and painless, I got an upper-floor room away from the elevator as I'd requested, a lovely comfortable room, assistance when there were printer issues...every member of staff I encountered was friendly, helpful and contributed to my enjoyment of a couple of days away before starting a new job. This hotel is very close to the Hbf so handy for travelling around the region, even to Oberhausen, so there's no need to forego good customer service and I am seriously considering staying here again as I plan to revisit Oberhausen in a few months. I have read some reviews that the hotel is dated but I would say that it's still very comfortable and has character but could perhaps use a lick of paint in some areas. I would have no hesitation in staying here again and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who likes a comfortable hotel with excellent staff in close proximity to the central railway station.

As always I had problems getting the proper invoice checking out. Receptionist told me he couldnt put all the charges (ones issued prior checkin from my credit card and the one that is issued after check out becuase of extras) I simply need an invoice where all my expenses are visible in one. Please send me the invoice asap! PS. I tried to send an inquiry from Club Accor but it give an error as usual too. Best Regards, Emre

We should have realised by the price but it was only for one night.The main problem being that even for a cheap price the bathroom was so small . it was almost impossible to manoeuvre around or even get in the shower.We often use Mecure & a lot have been updated & trendy little lobbies & bars installed , we have even been impressed with room size in Berlin & Munich.Location close enough to train station but nothing else in area going for it.

Pros - Room was nice and clean & bed was very comfortable. Wifi was fast . Cons: Customer service needs a lot of improvement. I did not feel welcome as a guest leave aside as an Accor Gold member. None of the staff (reception or kitchen) showed any genuine interest in providing a good service. Upon arrival at 23:30 the main entrance was locked. I tried to look for the door bell or intercom but could not find one. There were noone at the reception desk so i walked around and noticed that the hotel bar door was opened. I went in through the bar and was relieved that I was in the hotel. Eventually a member of staff came at reception. I informed him that I could not find the bell. He just told me there is a bell and to go and look again. It was a 'I don't care' attitude. I did see the bell the next morning and it wasn't easy to spot (I would expect a clear sign with arrow pointing to the bell but did not see one). Breakfast: Very few items available in the menu but was okay. However, customer service was a let down. I asked for a bowl for fruits and the kitchen staff never brought one. The message I got is that staff at this hotel don't care.

Lovely room with good shower. Slept very well The only slight issue was the lift. Was only one and very small. Not a problem most of the time but it was madness on the Saturday morning when people were checking in and out

Why i chose this hotel was because the distance to train station. As I had a lot of trips to Dortmund, that was crucial. Not really impressed with the furniture of the room, but I saw the online pictures. The desk hotel staff could not help me, but I have peculiar tastes, wanting to find an photography event where to view some good pictures during my stay. So, ok overall. That’s the reason I did not complete the survey until now. Nothing special, nothing bad.
