« Dirty small room »

This was by far the worst room in a 4-star hotel I have even slept in (I travel a lot and usually sleep in 4 star hotels or IBIS). The room (301) was very small, with tiny shower, dirty spots on the carpet, the bed was uncomfortable and so were the pillows. Actually nothing was as it is supposed to be in a 4 star hotel. In my opinion this hotel should be 2 stars and definetely not 4 stars. Just putting tea, koffee and a hair dryer in the room doesn't make it a 4 star hotel. IBIS is a 3 star hotel but the rooms there are much better than the rooms in this 4-star hotel. Terrible room (301).

The location of the Hotel is not so far, just a walk away from Main station, We have received early check in as our request but I don't think my room was upgraded as a Gold member as my request before, because the room too small, like 3 star hotel.

« Overall all in order - but your beds are too soft »

Good experience overall. The check in experience was smooth and staff really friendly and helpful. Location good near the train station - it suited me well. Breakfast was good. My only comments was that the rooms are a bit old looking and the beds too soft.

« Hotel room was worse than average 4 star hotel room »

This was by far the worst 4-star hotel room I have ever stayed in (I travel a lot and normally sleep in 4 star hotels or IBIS). The room was very small (room 301), the furniture outdated, the carpet dirty with plenty of spots on it, the shouwer was very small... the bed was uncomfortable. Honestly, I can not think of something that was fine about the room. Just putting coffee, tea and a sewing kit in the room doesn't make the room a 4-star hotel. Very disappointed. Mercure hotel is definitely off my list.

In general all fine, however I had to go to Koln for an short trip (3 hours) and the front desk lady did not let my wife go to our room, although she showed our confirmation booking (on my name) and give her credit card (Amex premium) also with her/mine name on it (of course slight different number as I booked with my card. She had to wait more then 2 hours before they let her go to het room. This was the 3rd time we stayed at your hotel

I checked in online so it saved me some time when I arrived at the hotel. Location couldn't be better. Walking distance from the main train station. A lots of restaurants nearby. Service from the staff was very good. Rooms need a bit upgrade/refurbishment, looks quite worn. There was no place to hang the towels in the bathroom. Breakfast was good. Ok variety. Would stay here again, but I highly recommmend a renovation of the rooms.

Very luxurious rooms (privilege room, in the apartment house at the back of the hotel), lots of storage space, excellent beds, separate 'living room'. Good breakfast. 15 minute easy walk to Altstadt.

« Average, hardware need to be upgraded »

The single room is ok but just the toilet is not very good, as the toilet seat is too near to the bath tub, so i find it a bit difficult to get out from the bath tub, and actually this may easily lead to accident. Breakfast only got limited selections, but luckily there is a chef there to make the omelette for me. Otherwise, i better go out and buy breakfast myself. The whole hotel actually is quite old, i think there is a need to upgrade your hardware if you want to be more competitive.

Helpful staff, good checkin and checkout experience, very good breakfast. Room was clean and well equipped. It was also quiet despite being at the front, on the 4th floor, above the front door. About 200m from the main railway station.

We stay at Accor most of the time. This was a disappointment. The shower and bathroom was covered with black mold and dust. The hotel is outdated and does not deserve its four stars.

I stayed room 229. It is difficult to take a bath, there is small space around bath. I suggest that small modification should be done. Manager shoud be take a bath at room 229.
