The hotel is in a great location. The central train station is only a 5 minute walk and the underground is equally as close. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a privilege room. Our living area and bathroom were well appointed and spacious. The breakfast buffet is excellent. From made to order eggs and crepes, we were truly satisfied. This hotel is a bargain for a city hotel. I would stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it to others.

« A Good Location For Central Dusseldorf »

The location is very good - a short walk to the main station (and less than 30 mins overall travel time from the airport by the S11 service) and 10-15 mins walk from the Alt Stadt and the Rhine. Service was good (and excellent English spoken if you need it). Our room (201) was a little small and the decor was a little tired - but the bed was comfortable, everything worked and it was clean. There was a little noise from the lift and you could hear other guests walking past - but not a problem for us. We didn't try the restaurant but had breakfast one day and a drink in the bar in the evening. Breakfast was good. The breakfast room is light and modern. The range of food and drink was also good (including crepes and omelette's made to order) and there were plenty of free tables when we arrived. The bar had a reasonable range of drinks available (and the list of bar snacks also looked good). Overall, a good experience. I would stay there again.

Check in was a Breeze, check in staff were helpful. Only thing was amenity kits were not automatically provided and we hung the option of getting a soft drink instead of room cleaning. Someone might have walked past and taken it as we came back and the room was cleaned. Nevertheless a good experience at the hotel!

This was the second time saying here, and the same room. My disappointment is with the shower in the room (both times) leaked all over the floor. I talked to management, but it was not going to be "fixed" until after I left. I like the staff, the location and the bar, but I was just disappointed in the room (#611).

« Gone from “ok” to terrible in 1 year »

Very poor client relationships - reception managed to convince all 6 of us that they don’t care at all. We had issues and if a hotel fails, we are all human, and it’s about how they apologise and correct For this reason, all of us checked out for the 10 night stay.

The hotel rooms need refreshing. The furniture is quite old, there is no fridge in the room with only empty cabinet with broken pieces and hanging cables. Very narrow single duvets on the double beds, I needed to use two for one person to get comfortable. Breakfast is OVERPRICED! Towel had holes

Very old hotel, old room infrastructure, very thin walls. Fast Check Out system was down, had to ask myself for my welcome drink. Staff friendly but with mediocr enthousiasm. All in all, very overpriced for the accomodation & service you're getting.

It was our first stay in this hotel and most likely the last one. 1. On the second day of our stay in the morning kind of dirt came out of the shower. Have no idea what it was but looked like a small tea-leafs mash. it was fixed very quickly I should say but unpleasant feeling left. 2. When we came back to hotel in the evening we found that nobody cleaned a bath after maintenance + staff left footprints on bathroom floor. None of housekeepers were on duty and we had to change the room. 3. There was no a key for safe box in our first room. Reception didn’t have it either. And we had to wait while maintenance staff would find and bring it. 4. Needless to say nobody suggested to upgrade the room as we had a gold membership. When we asked for they said it was available only for the 1st night but when the mess happened with shower etc they suddenly found better room for the 2nd night as well. We refused as there was no any sense to move through the garage with all belongings for having the last night. I appreciate everything could happen but this was definitely not Mercure chain service.

After staying usually in Ibis hotels, I was expecting an upgrade. This was not the case and I regret not choosing an Ibis for my stay. I was offered a free drink as Accor member but the bar was being refurbished so couldnt make use of it. The room and especially the bathroom definetly needed refurbishment.

The Mercure Hotel Duesseldorf City Center is a Hotel of average level. Maybe my expectations were higher, but the hotel is a bit old already, has small rooms and basic facilities. The city center name is not related to the closeness to the actual city center, it is not close: although the city is not that big, so in 15 minutes walk you are down-town. My special review goes to the hotel staff who was not welcoming and only (very) slightly friendly (only because they had to). Two examples: I travelled with my wife and 2 year old son, the baby-bed and our stroller hardly fit in the room we booked, when asking for another room it seemed to be very hard, when they finally found one, the Accor-loyalty card did not made that they offered this (unavoiding)upgrade, but just fully charged it. Second example: with an extra third night booked before the actual stay, the staff still asked after second night when I expected to check out that day: in a not welcoming tone. Below my expectations I had from Mercure.

Please rest assured that I have already looked into this and taken steps - and within my team I will make sure that negative experiences are a rare exception in the future.
