Staff etait rude et arrogante; she looked so annoyed at my request it was unbelievable. As a receptionist her customer service skills should have been great; acknowledging it was a receptionist from a mercure hotel, it should have been excellent! But no.. she wasnt. When i booked the room, it clearly said hotel with AC. It didnt say no AC in the room! Thats false advertising! Being 6 months pregnant she made me go from room to room with no AC, at the end we did get a room with AC; with 2 single beds tho (that was so dumb). I will contact Accor hotel branch to let them know about this. So disappointed with the customer service, my weekend started really stressfully. The room was really dusty, you need to clean everywhere at least once a week! So much dust behind the lamps and on the bed border. Disgusting! Also not safe for short people, i almost slipt twice getting out of the bathroom! It was the worse hotel i have been to. Not ever coming back.

Für die entstandenen Unannehmlichkeiten bitten wir Sie vielmals um Entschuldigung. Die Hotels der Marke Mercure setzen alles daran, um Ihnen bei jedem Ihrer Aufenthalte eine optimale Servicequalität anzubieten. Ihre Meinung ist für uns daher von größtem Interesse. Die Herausforderung mit dem W-Lan haben wir bereits in Angriff genommen, können allerdings auf Grund der noch vorhanden Verträge keine Änderungen durchführen. Die Zimmer sind mehrheitlich alle gleich Groß und eine Renovierung inklusive Badezimmer ist in der Planung. Wir haben auch bereits zwei Musterzimmer erstellt und warten nun auf deren Umsetzung auch in den anderen Zimmern. Der teilweise vorhandene Kanalgeruch ist zurückzuführen auf die alte Kanallisation der Stadt und läßt sich leider nicht vermeiden. Wir haben hier bereits Duftspender und Neutralisation zum Einsatz gebracht, doch benötigen diese auch entsprechende Zeit um zu wirken. Haben Sie nochmals vielen Dank für Ihre Anmerkungen. I spent one night here for a business trip. I was much looking forward to my stay in this hotel, but this joy ended up in disappointment. First of all, the online express check-in and check-out system did not work. Despite having a desk for this express track purpose, the staff mentioned that this system never works in their hotel and that I needed to check-in again manually. Needless to say that it also took extra time to check out instead of the comfort to just leave your key in a box and leave. The room was old fashioned. It was a throwback to the 80's and the room was also dusty. At first glance, the room looks clean, but the cleaning in less obvious places (lamps, wall decoration, above door posts etc) could have done better. In the shower there was a used tube of shower gel from the previous guest. One of the lamps was flickering due to a exhausted light bulb. Not what you would expect in a four-star hotel. The check-out took more time than planned with the express check-out not working and the staff on the phone. I was also charged more than I expected (overpriced for approximately 10 euro, price on the card payment terminal showed a lower price than actually charged), about which I wrote a complaint to the hotel. So far, no reply. I did not try the breakfast. The breakfast is 24 euro. No matter how good the breakfast is, 24 euro is in my opinion an overcharge. I was not surprised to see an empty breakfast area. In the direct environment you can enjoy an alternative breakfast in a much nicer environment for a much lower price. On a positive note, the beds are good, the towels are clean, the wifi is good and there is a minibar and coffee making facilities in the room. The direct surroundings of the hotel are nice, on a short distance from the old city center. Too bad that the service of the staff in this hotel let me down. If the hotel manager had replied sooner to my complaint first rather than sending me this invitation for this review, the score might have been better. Based on my experience and lack of responsiveness from the hotel management, I will definitely not recommend this hotel to colleagues, families or friends.

How else could we make it a better way? I am very sorry that your experiences did not meet your expectations, please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. The hotel rooms are not everybody’s matter of taste, but we normally try to keep them clean and proper for our guests. In your case the checker was not doing her job very well. We say sorry to you and the bad situation. We talked with the staff, who cleaned and checked the room before your arrival and hope, this will be controlled in the future on a better/other way. There will be a renovation in the near future to serve our guest a modern and pleasant stay in all of our rooms. The local city tax has to be charged from every business guest as well without a completed form of the city. We did not get this form from you during your stay, so we had to charge this tax at the end. The form could have been downloaded directly from the website of the city or our staff could give this to you. The most international companies have prepared documents in their travel departments, because not every information the city wants to get from you, are known from everybody. We are very sorry about this, we do not want to have this city tax, because the bureaucratic effort for us as a hotel is very high and we are at the end the bad hotels with incomprehensible conditions. When we charged your credit card at the terminal, there are two ways to pay the amount. First you can choose, if you want to pay in EUR or PLN. When you choose EUR the amount will be converted by the bank with your credit card invoice at the end. When you choose PLN (or another non-local currency) the amount will be converted directly by the terminal and the actual exchange rate plus bank fees will be charged. We have no influence to this process, because everything will be done by the bank companies automatically. We could credit you the amount in PLN on your credit card and charge it on the other way in EUR. Usually there will be a difference again, because the exchange rate of today will be used and not the one of the departure day. Please send us your decision. Enclose you will find a copy of the reservation be got from the system for your stay with the price of 93,45Euro, a copy of the invoice with 93,45Euro plus City tax 4,67Euro because of the missing form and a copy of the credit card slip with the charge amount in EUR and the note of the choice to pay in PLN. Dear Mr. V., we didn´t see a mistake in charging you a wrong price and would be glad to welcome you again next time you are in Cologne. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly in case you do not agree with our service. We are looking forward to offer you a nice and harmonic stay in our house. The price of the rooms are fine. Pretty cheap. It says that the hotel is a 4-star hotel. I would rate it a 3 at most though. The rooms are fine, but a 4-star hotel is a bit more luxurious I think. Also, they don't always provide you with all basics (shower gel, body lotion, shampoo). Some rooms get it, some don't.

The hotel fulfilled their tasks with nicely, we got a very nice upgrade of our room and there was a nice welcome present. This is always nice you don't have to ask about the automatic upgrade, this was just wonderful. The room was very nice, there were enough power sockets so the phones and laptop could be used and charged at the same time. The bathroom is some what older but still good operational and warm. This hotel is near some bars and during the weekend you hear the street very clearly but lucky not that much so we could sleep comfortable. The bar is good and the waiter was helpful, pity this hotel does not have ability to serve 100% vegetarian or vegan foot. In other Mercure hotels (Belgium, Netherlands and even Germany) they were really willing to prepare a warm dish with only vegetables, nuts or seeds and potatoes or pasta. In my opinion hotels like Mercure should be able to prepare a basic vegetable dish and not only some lettuce with 3 slices of cucumber and 3 slices of tomato. This is a missed opportunity. The staff reacted adequate on remarks and complaints of the customers, this was again a nice experience. Overall a very nice stay and when we visit Cologne again we will stay here again.

I and my wife really enjoyed our stay for 6 days in Mercure hotel, staff was really friendly and helpfull. We recommmend others also for this hotel. I have been staying in this hotel from last 8-10 year everytime I visit Cologne and definitely next time also stays in same hotel.

This hotel was completely outdated, room and amenities were very old, bathroom was dirty with black between the tiles, towel provided was dirty and reception personnel was unfriendly. Additionally, they would not provide us with the tax form as we were traveling for work and we had to pay the tax (while in other hotels such as Marriott or Pullman this is not an issue).

« Terrible Stink »

The stink in the room and even entrance was terrible it dosen´t help to open window. We have booked this hotel for the last 3 years and these times was we satisfied. The problem with the smell we really hope you fix.
