First things first - we enjoyed our three nights stay at Hotel Quellenhof very much. Our room was large, airy, and clean, and had a lovely view of the park. It's located a bit outside the old city centre, which meant a ten minute walk before getting anywhere, but that wasn't a problem. The restaurant was amazing! We ate there on two of our three nights in Aachen, the first and the last. The first visit was planned (a chef's surprise three course menu), and we went back the third night because we liked it so much. My dish on the second night - lamb in a crispy crust - was one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. We were told on our second visit there had been a minor kitchen mishap - a dropped oil bottle or something like that - on our first night, and we never even noticed - nothing but friendly and attentive servers all night. What keeps this from being a five star review, are minor details that slightly marred the perfection. Nothing ever large enough to complain about, but still made it feel like some things weren't given the attention they should have been given. Like the

« Brilliant weekend break! »

Lovely hotel that we have stayed at regularly over the past 18 years! We continue to go back because we love the building, the facilities and above all the Staff! We enjoy the great breakfast experience especially the cook to order section- the chef cooks delicious omelettes, pancakes and waffles! The Elephant Bar with Peter and his Team Jonas and Jan provide a friendly, welcoming atmosphere whist using their expertise to make fantastic cocktails and drinks. Overall, it is the staff that make staying at the Quellenhof a great experience - which is why we return so regularly!

« Always pleased to stay. Too bad turndown service disappeared. Too bad spa service dissppeared, but will return they said at rhe desk. Too bad when we asked twice fir a massage in the room, the desk staff could not find one. »

Very pleasant, staff excellent, “my rooms” 330 and 331 terrific, best indoor pool I know, three star breakfast with Herr Archinal and dinner with Herr Steiner.Such a beautiful building, hope next hotel management contract does not destroy, previous renovation of this wonderful building. Repair but don’t destroy, its perfect. THUS IS OUR TENTH YEAR IN A ROW STAYING WITH YOU! Why don’t you WORK HARDER TO GET TEFAF VISITORS?? actually this was our second stay in this hotel. we are plesantly surprised by further improvement on restaurant and good maintenance of all facilities. if we have to say something which we found a small minor points, that is lack of dustbin at wellness area and too soft bed in our room ( room 102 ).

« This property should be re-branded to a F1 motel »

I am astonished that this property exists in its current form. It does not do the Pullman brand any justice and should be rebranded into a F1 motel at most. Check-in: - No porter. - "We have some trolleys. You can help yourself to those" (bear in mind though that the passenger lifts are so tiny that you cant really fit large suitcases on the trolley into the lift. Hotel staff had to grudgingly assist to send up my luggage through the service elevator). - (Note: If you have a Platinum member checking in, please consider that he probably knows the AccorHotels systems very well). - No loyalty welcome. "Here are your keys, the welcome drink vouchers, lifts are behind you". - I inquired on an upgrade (I knew quite well that they were full. But I thought I would still test the system). "You already have a good room. We don't upgrade into Suites". THAT, is a wrong answer. There is no policy that upgrades into suites is not possible. When I then highlighted this, I was told that they were full. Fair enough. Room: - Typically, a day prior to guest check-in, a hotel should go through the list of arriving guests, check inventory and allocation. They should also be looking into guest profiles and preferences. My preference in my profile reads: AWAY from Elevator. We were given a room right next to the stairs and the elevator. - The bed is not what you expect from a AccorHotels property. I slept better 4 nights prior in the Ibis Styles in Bremen. Their beds are very old, not cushioned and not what you expect from a Pullman. It was extremely hard to sleep on it and my wife and I took a long time to fall asleep. When we did, we were woken up by drunkards coming back from the Christmas market (we could hear them as we were so close to the lift lobby). The room and furnishings are in desperate need of renovation. Wallpaper was peeling off, we had a big hole in our curtain as it was torn, some electrical plugs did not work... I am sure the hotel management will come back to this review with a typical copy&paste response like they do with other reviews here and talk about that they have many things on their list...Honestly, close the hotel and fix it. The hotel is a disgrace. Breakfast - Beautiful breakfast area. But the staff seem to enjoy blocking off the center area with all tables having reserved signs. WHAT Hotel reserves tables during breakfast?? Who are you reserving them for? People who pay more for rooms? Stammgaeste? Enjoy this Faulty Towers

« The room was good but this time we got a much smaller room than usual (you had to close the cupboard doors to have access to the bathroom). »

The breakfast was as fantastic as usual. Special thanks to the very friendly man who was doing the great omelettes and pancakes. We had our Silvester dinner at the hotel. The quality was really good, but unfortunately the waiting time between each course was really too long (at least in the room where we were sitting). It was about 20 minutes between each course. What I didn't know neither was that in other rooms (bar and big room the life music was much more present than there we were sitting).

« Could do better »

Invited to check-in online. Was asked what time we were going to arrive - and at the end of the process told our keys would be waiting for us. They weren't because the room wasn't ready and wasn't until 15.00. The Spa needed some attention - the bins in the shower room were overflowing. The hook on the bathroom door fell off. The TV cable was loose and I had to get on the floor to fix it (in poor lighting). Breakfast was very crowded and made worse by the fact the rather manic Frau Ober had reserved at least 3 tables in the main room for her friends/favoured guests.

We needed a place for just one night, and we were lucky to get a room: extraordinarily, for such a giant of a hotel, it was packed! We had hit the Christmas party moment, which could have been a nightmare, but turned out to be an enhancement. The hotel is simply beautiful and the staff are friendly and helpful. There were three of us; two in one double room, and one in a single. Neither room, I think, had been updated particularly recently, but they were beautifully comfortable: if you are a bed freak, then you are in for a treat. Usually, I'm not keen on a soft mattress; but this mattress, which was soft (but not a memory foam, thank the Lord) was supportive and so comfortable that it was like sleeping on a cloud. Proper feather pillows and silky smooth white cotton linen. The bathroom was wonderful: white tiles and chrome; classically German: wonderful selection of bits and pieces - just the BEST sewing kit I've ever seen (so many hotels don't even bother with this now), lovely thick, white robes and mule slippers in the cupboard; a sweet on each bedside table (also unusual in this day and age). We visited the bar twice: what a beautiful room! high-ceilinged and gracious, with knowledgeable multi-lingual barstaff. And breakfast: a triumph! Something for everyone. A fine spread of continental breakfast - breads, pastries, salamis, hams and cheeses, salads, fruit salads... but also hot offerings: eggs, sausage, etc. And again, a lovely room, with views of tree tops through enormous arched windows. We waddled out, feeling cossetted and happy. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough; it is within walking distance of the town centre, which was handy since we wanted to visit the Christmas markets before leaving, and there was parking for the car. Perfect. Already, I am looking forward to my next stay.

« Two nights at the Pullman »

We stayed at the Pullman whilst visiting the Aachen Christmas Market. A beautiful traditional hotel with courteous and attentive staff who all made us feel very welcome. Dined at the hotel restaurant on our second night and thoroughly enjoyed an excellent meal. There always seems to be a downside and I'm afraid on this occasion it was being charged 16 euros per night for parking our car!! Why does a quality hotel such as the Pullman need to do this? We have stayed in hotels around the world but this is the first time I've been charged for parking my car!!

« Elegant, comfy and enjoyable stay »

In Aachen for a weekend in December, we enjoyed the walking distance from the city center, the gorgeous SPA area, and the excellent and uncomplicated service. It's a beautiful building, the room could be refreshed, as the carpet and walls showed signs of age, but for us this did not affect the comfort of the room. We would have liked a kettle or coffee machine in the room, but we forgot it when we were welcomed so nicely by the bar tender as we asked for our insulated bottles to be filled in. we'd love to go back!
