« Very nice while your renovation made it slightly less pleasant than usual. »

Everything in your hotel works very well, you are well located and your staff is always friendly. That is why you are my go to hotel in Brussels. Renovations are understandable but they of course cause some limited inconvenience which could be reflected in the price of accommodation or compensated in some other way. During the renovation, your usually first class breakfast is of slightly inferior quality that your normal standard.

Excellent room and appreciate our upgrade. Major renovation work being carried out and bar and restaurant in temporary space. From check in to check out staff were very friendly. Hôtel in great situation and look forward to returning once place Jourdan has its extensive work completed.

« Dissatisfied because of renovations effects »

I have certain criteria for the hotels I use. One of the essential criteria for me is that hotel has a well enough equipped gym. Due to the renovations (that were not informed well enough in advance), the gym was not in use. In addition, the reception first informed that an alternative gym is only 400 meters away from the hotel but the truth was that the alternative gym was 1 km away.

« Dreadfully noisy works on the ground floor that we were not advised about at the time of booking. »

The stay was very badly impacted by the works on the ground floor. We were in Brussels to party for a few days, which meant we wanted to relax in our room in the morning/early afternoon, which was not possible with the noise. The room was ok buy the air conditioning system was old and didn’t work efficiently.

My experience with your hotel was really positive. Thanks to online check-in my room key was ready when I arrived. My room had a great view of the square in front of the hotel. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones I have ever slept in. Breakfast staff was nice and attentive. I especially liked the coffee served during breakfast.

i won't say this is a 5 star hotel the facility is good but there is no reception at the door no one offered even to carry our bags so to say this is a five star service is imppossible this is a five star facility but with 4 to 3 star service at best but the lady at the reception was nice and cooperative

« unfortunate street noise and hotel refurbishment »

I was e-mailed in advance re the refurbishment of lobby, bar, restaurant/breakfast areas, unavailability of fitness area and hamman. The room where breakfast is now served is probably not as nice as the normal room. I stayed up late and hoped to have a morning lie-in but unfortunately was awoken before 07.30 by drilling on the street outside which continued consistently for hours. This is not the hotel's fault. In the morning the room tv suddenly ceased to function. An engineer had to come and re-boot it by sticking a memory device in the back. I don't know why this happened.

We were disappointed upon our arrival, the hotel was undergoing construction works and we had not been warned. The fitness center and the sauna were therefore not accessible. On the bright side the staff was as friendly as ever and the rooms were comfortable.

Hotel room and staff were excellent as usual. Breakfast service was compromised by extensive restaurant and lobby area. Disappointed the fitness centre was closed - only informed a few hours before check-in, not at time of booking. Access to a remote fitness club the other side of the European parliament was not hugely convenient.

We had planned to stay at your place to end our xmas holidays in a superb 5 star hotel and were extreme disappointed at arrival to see all renovations....No fitness posibilityn No Hammam which we looked forward, Bar "Gone" for a drink and restaurant gone as well and nil indications with understanding " the works were planned"..... However with thanks to superb personnel at reception and at the " back up breakfast room in meeting rooms"...it was finally rather OK. We would though have appreciated a "mail" ahead of our arrival instead of finding all works at arrival that almost ruined our whole stay.

« Overhaul of bed mattresses needed »

The bed mattress on the first night was in appalling condition: you could count - and hear - the bedsprings. We were transferred to another room: the mattress was marginally better. We had however requested separate beds for the adjacent room where my kids would sleep. We found out late at night when returning to the hotel that the bed was a king-size bed, and so my kids ended up sleeping in the king-size bed for one of them, and on a separate complement bed for the other one. Staff was nice and helpful.

« For the first time dissappointed »

We have been coming regularly to the the Sofitel. We really love it and we were looking forward spending the night there. I did book through Booking.com because it was the same price (even with the card) and is easier. I did not know I was not going to receive any points because of that. The hotel was in renovation....no one told us so (also not on the website) so no human, no fitnesses, no nice reception area..fist disappointment The Sofitel is the only location where we take breakfast because we love the feeling, the food, the fact that this is local. Here we were celebrating my husband birthday and in 15min we had finished the breakfast. The place (because of work) was not appropriate, it was packed, no service ..food did not look or taste the same...large disappointment. At night, we cut out all the clima but still it was very very warm (we opened the window) and we could not take out the evaluation system in the bathroom causing noise during the whole night. True, we had probably could call the maintenance service but we were too tired for that. (last thing...do we really need a "ding" when reaching the good floor with the lift...because we heard that the full night).. all in all, very disappointing, we did not sleep nice, we did not have our nice breakfast (and usually I am never complaining)..we will think twice in the future to pay that price for this.

First I was concerned regarding a missing parking as there were works/renovations going on. But as I shortly found a good spot it was ok. Then I was a bit surprised that we had the view to the inside of the hotel and not to the outside. It was not mentioned at the reception nor asked if we would like to have the view to the outside. But it was ok.

I stayed 2 nights and could not sleep for both the nights. I had a better stay at an IBIS hotel than Sofitel!! The rooms were sooo heated that we felt so uncomfortable. We told hotel evening staff and they said they cant do much! It was weird how only at night it was sooooo hot and not during day. I was soo excited about my stay at Sofitel but left with so much disappointment.
