« Bathroom Setup Not Good »

The hotel was fine, nice bar area, pool a bit small but it's Monaco so to be expected. The rooms were adequate, although the layout of the toilet and bathroom/shower area was really bad. In each bedroom, the toilet is located in a separate room on the left as you first walk in, like a cupboard. But other than the toilet in this cupboard, there is nothing, no sink, nothing. So after using the toilet you have to open the door, then walk to the other bathroom area where the sink/shower/bath are located, open that door, then wash your hands. Having to open two doors to wash your hands is appalling, and especially at night time when you also have to switch on lights in the toilet and then in the bathroom, it's almost certain to wake up whoever is with you and it's an experience I won't go through again. The bathroom door as with many Novotel bathrooms has two doors that come together like walking into a wild west saloon - and there is a gap down the middle, approximately half an inch. There is absolutely no need to have gaps in doors like this - even if staying with a spouse, people appreciate privacy when stepping out of the bath/shower etc, or having a shave or whaever people might do in a bathroom when alone. Maybe Novotel this it looks traditional/authentic, but trust me, it just looks like poor design work. I don't think I'll stay with Novotel again anywhere, perhaps unless I'm entirely on my own and can have all doors open at all times. But even then, every other hotel in the area would have to be full/closed or significantly more expensive.

Dear Sir or Madam, I write in relation to the above visit to Novotel Monte Carlo. This was a family holiday we had looked forward to all year after enjoying Novotel Bordeaux in 2016. Indeed, our Junior Suite was excellent, as was the breakfast we subsequently opted into. The service at the hotel was, however, very disappointing indeed, failing to meet our needs. It left us feeling unwelcome and unaccommodated, and dissatisfied with Novotel as a brand. Having chosen Novotel for our next holiday, to Nürnberg, prior to our stay in Monte Carlo, we feel anxious that the experience is not repeated. Our complaint concerns the reception staff at the Novotel Monte Carlo: Check-in Our booking detailed that our room would be available from midday on the day of arrival. Having left home at 3am, this was an important component of our decision to book. On arriving at the hotel at 1:20pm (with two children who needed a rest), we were informed (rudely, by pointing at a sign on the desk) that the room would not be available until 2pm and that we should store our bags in the hotel. We did this and went out for a quick lunch, returning at 2:10pm. We were told that our room still wasn’t ready and to wait in the reception lounge area. At 3:00pm, with two very restless little girls (aged 6 and 4), I unpacked our cases in the reception area and took them to the swimming pool to lie down on the sun loungers – there was nowhere else for them to lie/sleep. My wife remained with our luggage. At 3:15pm, she was told our room was ready. No apology for the in excess of three-hour delay was offered, neither was help in taking the luggage to the room, which my wife subsequently struggled with. It was a hostile experience for which no apolgy was offered at any point. Check-out Given that we were not due to leave Monaco until 3pm, I enquired on the day of departure whether or not we might be allowed to retain the room until 2pm. I understand this is available to Silver members if the room is not booked. On enquiring, the request was quickly dismissed without checking the system: no, ALL rooms were taken and they were ALL required at midday. It is difficult to understand that ALL rooms were required at midday, especially given the apparent understaffing of room cleaners we experienced the direct result of at check-in with our room not being ready. It left us having to get changed in the hotel toilets before leaving the hotel in fresh clothes, again unpacking and packing cases in an undignified manner within the public areas of the hotel. I would have understood if the room had indeed been booked: it was very clear, however, that absolutely no effort was taken to check or to facilitate a smoother departure. Having previously contacted you without a response (and this time emailing directly and feeding back through the email sent), I hope this time to receive feedback, an apology for being undervalued as a guest and assurance that the service we received is incongruous with the standards expected by Novotel. Of course, we have an outstanding booking. I hope the outcome to this email and experience in Nürnberg ensures that we continue to book with Novotel.

« Great Hotel »

Great Hotel with good location in the centre of Monaco. The only thing that i would advise the hotel is the standard and arrangement of the breakfast: It really needs an update, and whoever came up with the idea to Cook/scramble your own eggs (which creates a huge line btw) needs to get fired.

« Stop over after a rather long holiday. »

We loved staying at the hotel, it was in a good area, handy to public transport. Our room was very nice, quite roomy & relaxing. Only one thing we weren't happy with is that you only get paper cups for your tea & coffee, which can be rather dangerous having hot liquids. We much prefer proper China cups or mugs. Also we noticed a family bring in their dog into the breakfast restaurant, then gave the dog food in the same bowl that patrons eat from, we found this very unhygienic. Being long time Accor members, we were disappointed that you don't have any discount on food.

The facilities are modern and well-equipped, and the hotel clearly goes out of its way to cater to families with children - miniature Le Petit Prince soap and body wash for each kid, for example, and a kids' play area in the lobby to keep everyone busy while you are checking in. We had a difficult experience extending our stay by one night, when as a result of a miscommunication the extension did not get registered into the system - the night staff were less than understanding, let's leave it at that. The manager the next day was, on the other hand, very understanding, had investigated everything by the time we went down to speak with him, and made everything right. So: we're happy again.

Very clean hotel. Liked the tub and makeup mirror in bathroom. Found breakfast below expected standards as the little pans were sticky and I think it would be better if you had someone cooking eggs.....most guests were disgusted with their eggs and someone was standing there cleaning pans....fiasco. Not worth paying that price for breakfast. Could utilize the roof deck as was a waste.

We very much enjoyed the location of the hotel. Near to all attractions. We also appreciated the upgrade. We were however very disappointed to find our room uncleared two days in a row. The first day I didn't complain but on the second one I did. All housekeeping did was the bed, no new toiletries, no new nespresso capsules (the box was empty), the mini bar wasn't topped up. I visited the front desk and was assured someone will ring me in the room and update me. That did not happen, only a staff member came by to top up the bar. I found this situation very upsetting. No apology, no intention to acknowledge the situation. I understand there may be days when the hotel is busier than the others but what really put me off was that nobody contacted us to apologise for this. Particularly when the manager on duty (I believe a lady called Natalie) was next to the receptionist when I brought this to they attention. I work in the domain and am Sales Manager and can assure you I never go home until all my clients are happy and content. What was also upsetting was the inability to bill things to the room on the reason that no card was on file. But 1. The booking had been prepaid so they did have my card on file and 2. nobody asked on check in to add a card on file. Although the location is great, the rooms are amazing, I feel because of the service provided for the rates charges there is no value for money.

There was an initial problem with the room allocation which was promptly dealt with in an amicable manner. We found the hotel very clean with excellent facilities. Above all we're the quality of the staff in all areas of the hotel, from the front desk to the restaurant to the pool & bar.. they are a great asset to the hotel and reflect the high standard of service no doubt instilled by a good management team. Well done!

We arrived early but we're made to feel welcome and offered the facilities of the hotel while we waited. The room was clean and comfortable, though they didn't provide much shower gel for three people. The reception staff were helpful in recommending suitable restaurants for both nights of our stay. The breakfast was good, but cooking your own eggs was frustrating and time consuming.

My wife and I spend 4 nights at the hotel and were really satisfied with all aspects at the hotel. Check in was easy, food and service were excellent and the pool well maintained with a helpful lifeguard. Would recommend the hotel to any one staying in Monte Carlo.

« Central position in ok hotel »

We felt the location was perfect and all personel was great. However the room was not well cleaned, under bed and under sofas there was tons of dust and junk. Also the room had think carpet that really felt dirty and old. Breakfast was very good.
