Good location

bulentbalci Family - 11/09/2019 TripAdvisor review

We stayed only 1 night but enjoyed the breakfast and the location. It's easy to reach by car and next to a public parking. Hotel has special rate but makes sense if you stay more than a day. Otherwise, hourly public rate is cheaper up to 24 hours. The rooms though a bit old yet clean as expected.

Wonderful stay.

This has been my favorite Novotel: service is excellent from reception, event management and the restaurants. Quality of meals is very good. The rooms follow the usual Novotel standard, but Monaco stands out for the service and food quality, better than any other Novotel I have been to.

Smart but expensive

Great hotel in good location. Upgraded to suite which was really nice but why are there never sockets near mirrors to dry your hair? Small rooms but fine for one night. Very expensive but seems the norm for Monte Carlo

No good

NOVOTEL - Monte-Carlo After spending a week at the Hyatt in Paris this place put us into deep depression. We had such warm expectations for the continued celebration of our fortieth anniversary but we we had the carpet pulled from under our feet instead. For what this establishment charges and taking into account its location in Monte Carlo, one would expect a great deal more. During checkin, I was talked into an upgraded room, newly renovated with a better view facing the bay. While it is true this “upgraded” room faced the direction of the bay, it only had a view of buildings. More disappointment. In this “newly renovated room” the electrical outlet to use the hair dryer in the bathroom is inoperable. Not just our room, but all newly renovated rooms according to a staff member I spoke with today. Staff solution is to go outside bathroom and and use plug located near floor board. Another issue they forgot to tell us at check in, not mention the difficulty for someone who is handicapped. Another STRANGE feature was the switch for the bathroom light was outside. We were not informed at check that when you first open the door that you need to use your key card to turn on room lights. After stumbling around trying to assess the problem, I finally noticed the card receptor on the wall by front entry. Having a Mini bar/refrigerator that is not cold I found very odd!! There was an ice machine down the hall but there was no container to get ice from machine to our room. I explained my problem to reception to no avail. Today I talked with room cleaning staff. They called room service to help and their solution was to give a stack of .5 liter plastic cups. Selection in the “complementary” mini bar was a sad affair, especially for two people with similar tastes (ie 40 years of marriage) and only one of each item. No wash clothe to use with shower gel. When you attempt to wash by hand with liquid soap it merely goes to the floor. You then slip and fall in the shower because your standing on a fiberglass platform and nothing to save you. This is not speculative, but what actually happened to me. There was plenty of “fair trade” products and I had to ask myself why would you use cheap plastic and paper cups like cheap motels? Not very ecological as they would like us to think. The plastic cups are so thin and cheep they crack when trying to remove the plastic bag they are wrapped in, which is another ecological faux pas on their part. Chair in room sitting area should be in a torture chamber, not a luxury hotel in Monte Carlo! Not anywhere! Perhaps this was designed by the Marquis de Sade! I could not use the balcony with my wife because they supplied only one chair. When ever I had questions that I put to a staff member, the most common answer was see reception. Unfortunately, that is where our problems began. The only shining moments that made our two night stay were the bar and restaurant staff. I would like to give special recognition to Adriano and Emilia on the bar staff and Sharon, our server in the restaurant. If it was not for their superb service, our visit would have been worse than

Both myself and my wife had bite marks all over our legs and arms. The following day, we reported this to the hotel staff who only offered to change the sheets. Luckily our 1 year old daughter was in her cot so she was fine but we were left very disappointed.

Average and dissatisfied

- Initial room was horrible with a hole in the wall window. The second room was better which then came with a balcony - Hallways felt creepy, seedy and dated, definitely needs to be refurbished along with the rooms, which were cheaply furnished - Shower wasn’t usable and was blocked so it flooded when used and stunk of sewerage when the water rose - Extremely uncomfortable beds and lumpy pillows - The hotel staff don’t bother to knock on the doors before entering your room and just walk in - I had on the second occurrence a maid walk straight in just as I was getting in the shower and naked - Strangely you aren’t allowed to wear thongs into the pool area, which is concerning given these wet areas are a breeding ground for foot fungal (ie tinea) - The lobby, pool and restaurant area was nicely laid out and open

Marc Families - 30/08/2019 AccorHotels review

My family and I are generally satisfied with our experience. The restaurant is good and the hotel staff welcoming and willing to assist. One minus is the issue of the parking. I called before our arrival to inquire about the parking and was told that I needed to shortly leave the car in front of the hotel ("depose-minute") and go to the reception to get information about access to the parking used by the hotel. This is what I did, except that when we arrived all the space in front of the hotel was taken. We make several circles, without knowing the area, but there was still no free spot in front of the hotel. Eventually, we had to look for a public parking and, after finding one, we walked to the hotel where we were told where the hotel parking was and how to access it. The point I would like to make is the following: had this been explained over the phone when I called, this would have spared us precious time, as we only spent 24 hours in Monte Carlo. Not a tragedy, but we were a little upset by this incident.

Service from the moment we entered the door from reception, cleaning and waiters were great. Very clean and modern, great lounge area. Executive room was superb, the view from the balcony over port hercule made the trip. It’s expensive as Monaco is an expensive place but in comparison to other hotels in Monaco this wins on price, looks and comfort. Thank you

Superb as always

F Couples - 23/08/2019 AccorHotels review

The room was average. And unfortunately the hotel has so many people, yet a small pool, we wanted to use the pool but did not bother, was too busy and not relaxing and breakfast was also crazy busy. And paying 7 euros for water, I did not bother purchasing other things. The one thing I have to comment positively, is the staff is extremely nice and helpful. The staff made it ok. And that says a lot considering how busy the hotel is.

Dear Farah S., Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Novotel Monte-Carlo. I am sorry your experience did not meet your expectations despite the goodwill of our staff, please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I have to agree that in summer, lots of families come to enjoy the Monegasque weather in our hotel and the common areas are quickly filled up. Please kindly know from October, after the yacht show, the hotel is much quieter, and I am convinced it could improve your future experience. We appreciate your sharing, and I hope you will give us the opportunity to welcome you again in the near future. Sincerely, Leslie Guest Relations

Your weak point in this chain is the room cleanup... maybe to much room to one person. We left at around noon and returned from the beach or swimming pool after some hours and needed to wait late afternoon that the room will clean up or to call to ask for the service, and it happen more than once.

Excellent

Alec Families - 19/08/2019 AccorHotels review

Room was modern and clean, staff friendly. Air conditioning was terrible and did not cool the room at all meaning that we did not get much sleep as it was far too hot in the room. Also we asked for some milk to be brought up to our room, but this never happened.

Dear Mr. W., Thank you again for taking the time to tell us about your experience on another plateform. I am taking this opportunity to offer my appologies once more and I hope to welcome you again very soon. I remain at your disposal for any queries about our hotel. Kind Regards, Leslie Guest relations
