It was a pleasure to stay at the Novotel in Dubai. It is very well located, the staff is professional and willing to help. I suggest to open the bar in the basement for a longer time and we need more plugs for laptops outside where smoking is allowed.

« Nice hotel but lots of issues »

Its a nice modern hotel, attached to the world trade center. I chose it for the location because I was attending a trade show there. But with Accor Hotels you never seem to get what you pay for. Some examples from this stay: 1) I paid in advance for a superior room through the Accor web site. The confirmation e-mail confirmed that the room has a bath tub. Great - I enjoy a nice relaxing bath at the end of a hard day walking round a big show, so this is one of the things I look for. When I get to my room of course there is no bath, just a shower. When I queried it with the front desk the guy said "only some of the rooms have bath tubs and we save those for people that want them. You have to ask for one when you check in". So there's a breach of contract right there - I paid in advance for a service which I didn't get. There was nothing in the e-mail about requesting a bath when you arrive. Do you need to ask if there's a bed in the room too? 2) On the second night I ordered room service and when the guy brought it he asked for payment. I had given my credit card to the receptionist for incidentals, like you normally do. I have stayed in over 300 hotels in 40 countries and this is the first time I have ever been asked for cash on delivery for my meal. 3) On checking in I was told that my room rate included 3 pieces of laundry free per day. Great - I sent 3 shirts away for cleaning but a day later I found a note outside my door asking me to contact the front desk to arrange payment before they would deliver my laundry back. But its free, right? Apparently not. The front desk said it was a mistake I was told that. OK, they agreed to reverse the charge but why was I asked to pay before they would deliver? Isn't that why you register your credit card when you check in - to pay for incidentals? It seems they had 'forgotten' to activate my card. There were a lot of other niggles like not being able to get coffee at breakfast. I kept asking but it either never came or took so long I had finished eating by the time it came. Why don't they have a coffee machine so you can help your self? I'm going to avoid Accor Hotels in future because they just don't seem to be able to get hospitality right.

terrible service and food supply in breakfast, cut down all the sanitary kits which was an stupid do. I felt like stayed at Ibis, instead of Novotel. though hotel left me an desert plate at second night without any written notice; i even thought it was an wrong room delivery service. later found out it was an treat to vip guest. the next morning the housekeeper did not take out the plate and left there for 2days. what? for decoration?! every detail did not qualify as an 4 star, I was quiet disappointed.

3 days out of 7 days stay I have to call the technician to fix the AC which was not working at all. One day they make up the room but did not refill the minibar. They also don't provide the soap and shampoo on a daily bases. I called Reception to ask to fill minibar and provide the soap and shampoo but no one appeared. Disposable shoe, dental kit and shaving kit was also on demand. why? do you think that someone might not clean their teeth on a daily bases? it is funny.

It is my 5th stay . Location ,Clean ,friendly staff , safe, nice food , trade center next door , metro around 5min walk . Free bus to dubai mall and Mall of emirate . Outlet mall bus come 2 times from 0900 and the the .2nd by 1310
