« AN EXTREMELY PLEASURABLE STAY »

I was in train transit in Bordeaux. Courteous and extremely helpful staff ready to answer various direction questions. My room was basic but super clean, it had everything one needs in transit and it was well insulated in terms of noise. I liked being able to watch BBC World TV. The hotel was extremely close to the main station (a 5 minute-walk) when arriving and just as easy to get to the departure area of the station when leaving early in the morning. Pleasant breakfast room and nice buffet opening very early in the morning.

I didn't like there was a hidden $12 tax fee. I would have booked elsewhere had I known there was this fee. Transparency with customers is important to me since this is where we stay for the night, so I'm not satisfied with that.

Regarding the tax you are talking about, it is actually the Fast Check in procedure you chose. A preauthorization is made to your bank of a montnat higher than that of the reservation, to cover any additional charges not foreseen during your booking. The unused amount of the pre-authorization is returned to your account at the end of your stay, according to a variable time depending on your bank. Sadly this was the worst hotel of our 5 week trip around Europe. The only positive aspect was the 5 minute walk to the train station. The hotel felt like a fortress with codes to get in everywhere (obviously security in the area was an issue), the down & out tramps outside were scary, the room poorly ventilated, bed very uncomfortable, pillows too and lighting inadequate. The reception team were friendly.

Completely spoiled by faulty air conditioning. Reported the fault at reception after our first nights stay. On our second and last nights stay the issue remained unresolved - still no air conditioning. We were uncomfortably hot both night of our stay - hardly slept at all. We reported the problem again when checking out. The male on reception apologised but offered no explanation or attempt to compensate us for a disappointing stay. This is our second stay at Ibis Budget Bordeaux - unsure if we’ll return.
