have stayed at this hotel before as a stopped over . very friendly and helpfull staff , lovely revamped rooms with new pillows and beds for a good night sleep. nice breakfast and of course the free mini bus to and from the airport

Due to bad weather over a few days all UK to Europe ferries suffered disrupted timetables. Our ferry from Plymouth to Santander was running 7 hours late with an ETA in Santander of 21:30 instead of 15:00, I contacted our hotel in Madrid, Ibis Barajas at 14:30 informing the receptionist that we would still becoming but our ETA would be 03:00. Prior to sailing I used the Ibis online check-in service, Firstly I was astonished that my cards that I have used with Ibis throughout the world over the past 10 years were no longer acceptable and the only card acceptable for online check in was American Express – fortunately I have this type of card as well and during the check-in I indicated I would be arriving by car – which we have done at Ibis Barajas over the last 10 years – for which I always pay car parking. I do not want to use Amex cards as I have a euro account with a Spanish bank and would prefer this, as I do not want to lose out on the current disastrous exchange rates. On our arrival at 02:35 we requested a ticket from the car parking machine but no was available. I spoke to reception and they said the car park was full and they would not let me in. I had to reverse up a precarious double slope and onto a road to be able to drive around to the Ibis entrance. At reception, I apologise, but I was tired and very angry at the end of which I persuaded the receptionist to go and check the car park for spaces. On her return she stated there were one empty space and also 3 empty disable spaces. We then went into the car park and parked in a disable space, as we are a disable blue badge holder leaving the normal space for any other person needing to park. Once in our room it was time for the mid-seventies people to take their prior to sleep medications. No drinking vessels in the room! We improvised by using medicine bottle tops to hold water in order that we could take our tablets. We did not call reception as all we wanted was sleep. Once awake no wifi, no record of name or room. In all the years stopping at the Ibis Barajas, we have only had praise for the hotel, but from the onset of this visit – online check-in, car parking, and water vessels – it was a disaster. The one saving grace is that reception cancelled the charge to my Amex card and took it from my Bankia card.

I am sorry that thing went wrong from the beginning regarding ferries and timetables (I had to suffer something similar myself when I took a Britanny Ferries going from Portsmouth to Bilbao). Please, accept my apologies about the problems you had with the online check-in and car park (not very common we ran out of spaces, but it happens sometimes on busy periods). Please, do not let this last experience let you down about us. The person who works in the reception is the same who looks after the bar. I was waiting for a coffee and a toast for over 20 mimutes. The toast arrived burnt so I did't have it. I wasn't willing for asking another one as my bus was going to leave and the service there is too slow. I dont't blame the staff but the owners. Same people can't do everything.

Comfortable and modern with cafe/bar on premises with a decent selection of eating and drinking options. Airport shuttle is good though can be busy and staff are friendly and helpful. Bathroom comfortable but room is a little small. Close to shops and restaurants and plaza.

The stay was really comfortable from the friendly faces to the soft bed and pillows. It's exactly what I needed after completing two weeks on the El Camino, before returning home. The only area of suggestions would go towards the dining selection. While the buffet breakfast was great, the dinner could use a revamp and some help. My meal was extremely disappointing.

My wife and I were very satisfied with the accommodations. The room and bathroom was spacious and clean. Modern and simple, as I expect an airport hotel to be. The lobby/bar/cafeteria was very nice and useful. The free shuttle ride also very convenient. We will be coming back frequently in our travels through Madrid.

My family and I checked in for only a few hours as we were transiting through Madrid airport - roughly 1am until 5am. The key card did not work at first which was a pain, but once it was replaced it was fine.

I had to reserve a one night stay at this hotel because of a longer connection flight. It was all that I needed. easy access from the airport and a comfortable room and nice food. Although I was not able to really enjoy my quick passage through Madrid, the Ibis Madrid Aeropuerto Barajas was a hospitable and friendly place.
