« No privacy in bathroom. »

On arrival no one is at the reception. Have to stand there and waited quite a while until someone appears at the reception for check-in. The online check-in works very well. Requested for a room with nice view and high floors but was given one facing the backyard or the inner-yard of the hotel with a view to the backdoor and the residential building at the lowest floor. The worst thing is the bathroom door could not close well. There is a huge gap in between the door in Room 314 and your companion could clearly sees into the bathroom. So you can't get naked in the bathroom.

Super hotel, close to the City Centre and U-bahn is just a few steps away. The staff made me feel very welcome. The room was spacious and clean. Toilet and bath in two different rooms. Nice with both shower and tub.

My wife and I were staying at Novotel Hamburg for 4 days for our prolonged weekend. Even though the weather/temperature was cold, but the hotel is "warm", not only because of the nice building & facility, but also the hotel personnel, we felt like at home, warm warm warm, and well done Novotel team in Hamburg city alster!

« We were not satisfied with the staff »

We booked a special offer, the same room, but a Little bit higher Price, to get free internet, free roomservice, free minibar, bathrobes, free Premium internet etc. When we arrived, fridaynight, the person ind the reception didnt tell me anyting about our privileges and didnt gave us the password to the internet. It was a Little bit irritating, that i came. There were no bathrobes at the room. The Next day we asked for the internet password. The woman in the reception told us we have to pay for it - i told her, we have booked the room incl. the Premium wifi - instead of of apologizing, she suspiciously asked where we had booked the room. Fortunately, we had booked it on the hotel's own website and I showed her the text which showed that there was premium wifi included - still no excuse - but just a sour mine where she handed us a piece of paper with the password and said that it does not usually be included. After that we also asked for the missing bathrobes - she asked us how many we wanted - i am pretty sure she put it on our bill - and still no excuse, that we have paid for something that wasnt there. We ordered room service and I was so stupid to sign for it without looking at the bill - because I would like to have checked if we paid the 4 euros that the room service fee is usually - but as it was included. in this special offer. When we checked out, luckily the person in the reception was better - I was prepared to ague with the staff if I had to pay for a minibar, bathrobes, etc. But he spent some time at the computer and I'm pretty sure that he was removing these things on our bill. Lovely that I should not start the day to ague with the staff - but terribly annoying that the staff do not know there own offers and do not give any service. It actually removed the feeling of the special treat/pampering and changed it to a fight for what we actually paid for.

« A good hotel that needs to make progresses on food. »

Globally good. Welcome is good, hotel is modern and rooms are comfortable. I have not dared to have dinner at the evening. For an hotel bearing a French brand, food is not enthusiastic. Same for a French hotel, the French channel selection is more than limited.

« Bad experience in a nice hotel ! »

I arrived at hotel around 12 noon on 1st February but after check in I was told that room would not be available before 3 pm as per hotel policy. Then I went to the Cafe area to wait. Meantime I saw few more guest checked in and got the room key but no one called me to get the room ! Later at around 2 pm I approached another person in reception and she gave me the room. I left my luggage in the room and went for meeting. In the night when I was preparing for sleep I found room was too cold and heating system was not working !! Then I was given a small room heater (not enough at all to make such a big room warm) and another blanket to protect !! Ridiculous experience altogether in such a nice hotel. I never experience such a poor service from any Accor hotel in my life !!

The rooms in the hotel are very comfortable (if a little small), clean, modern and absolutley identical to the rooms in Novotels in Lima, Santiago and Glasgow. Staff friendly and welcoming, hotel well-located next to metro, nice bar and restaurant. But the small plates at the breakfast buffet are surely a little bit 'geizig' in this day and age...But a very nice stay.
