« Good but old fashioned rooms »

I am used to staying in Ibis Hotels also in Hamburg and it is always a good experience, very easy and uncomplicated. Booking and chcecking in online as well as reiceiving the bill via email is great for business travels. However, in this Hotel the rooms were very old fashioned and the atmosphere was not as homely and welcoming as in the newer Ibis Hotels (e.g. Hamburg City).

Good stay. Not outstanding. Staff not very attentive. The refurbishment at some floors was bit annoying. Should have been announced at booking to enable to look elsewhere.

I recently stayed in ibis budget next door. I found the room concept of the ibis budget superior; ibis offers somewhat better facilities (24h reception, bar, slightly nicer breakfast). Overall I think it's good value.

« Nice place for a decent stay! »

Since I didn't know anything about Hamburg, I started just randomly looking for a nice place to stay at. All I knew was that the Reeperbahn was a street you wanted to be pretty close to, but didn't want to stay on. This hotel was right behind the Reeperbahn and in perfect walking location to the soccer stadium, the harbour, the Reeperbahn district etc. Though I didn't feel very safe walking on the Reeperbahn, I must say I immediately felt welcome and safe while in the hotel. The lobby was clean and nice and there was a night guard that kept the heavily drunk outside ;) The bathroom was clean, the room had NO carpet which was a big plus and made the room look neat. The only thing that could've been better was the bed. It was pretty hard, but I must say the noises outside made me awake anyhow. Had a very pleasant stay and would stay here again!

I often come to the hotel in connection with my travels and I have always been happy with my stay at the hotel, but in connection with my last trip between 4 and 5 January 2018, there is a new employee in the front desk(receptionist) in the evening, the woman at the front desk was very angry and unhelpful when I got my welcome drink (I have business membership of the ibis hotel) she looks very angry and served the wind without snacks or others.

For this stay, i was disappointed about the internet connection. Getting a high speed access, the connection was interrupted at least every 10-15 minutes. I had the last room on the floor and quite far away of the WLAN Router. Also, it took 3 days for the room maid to notice that the hand soap dispenser was empty. It was already empty when i checked in.

I have stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions when visiting the Hamburg area on business trips. The hotel is always clean and comfortable and the staff welcoming. The reception staff were unsmiling and unfriendly which, to be honest, I don’t usually pay much attention to. The lack of warmth was starkly emphasised however when our fire alarm went off at 8am in the morning. Apparently, it was caused by the steam of two people having had showers. Whilst I appreciate this was a stressful time for the hotel manager there was absolutely no effort to apologise for the dodgy fire alarm and the disruption caused to our morning. The fire alarm engineer told us “too much shower.” In all the years of staying in hotels I’ve never caused the entire hotel to begin evacuation procedures through showering and I have had longer, steamier showers than this. And yet, we were both made to feel like we had committed some kind of infraction. Other than that, our stay was fine.

Everything was fine at the hotel. The staff was personable and multi-lingual. If I could change one thing, it would be individual bottles of lotion, shampoo & rinse. I'm not a fan of one product does a good job of all 3 functions.
