Very good experience and I was named guest of the day! What a surprise on my first ever time staying. I’ve been staying at the four seasons for years and never got recognized. Request for a room away from the noisy elevators was handled and granted no problem. Sorry, you’re known for noisy elevators and that’s why I put in the request!. Thankfully it was granted as a good nights sleep was vital due to an extremely important meeting the next morning.

This visit involved travelling with and caring for an elderly family member which meant we had some non-standard requirements. A desire for a adjoining connected rooms or a suite we could share was the main need but due to short lead-time for booking coinciding with a busy weekend meant having to move rooms during our stay. As we were told the hotel was almost fully booked I understood not all requests can be fulfilled. The frustrations arose from almost every interaction with booking or check-in people. Arranging the booking involved several phone calls. Each call required the complete story to be retold even though each of the previous calls included assurances that extensive notes were left with the reservation to help us. Initial check-in went relatively smoothly as we recounted our requirements for the staff member assisting us. We took two rooms for the first night, moving to a suite for the subsequent two nights. The move on day two required two visits to reception and a retelling of our story. The second visit necessitated as the room keys for the first pair of rooms had timed out, despite specifically asking if those keys would still work at the first visit, when collecting the key for the suite (nights 2 & 3). Check out was smooth but soon after leaving the hotel we learned that a family member had already paid the bill that morning. This was a surprise as it became clear the bill was paid twice. The family member returned to the hotel after dropping our party at the airport to have one of the charges reversed. AS stated earlier, the accommodation was fine but dealing with the organisation was frustrating. One piece of specific feedback I'd like to give is to reinforce with your people they must actively listen. It is easy to assume most requirements are the same and focus on completing processes quickly. However, when someone answers "no" to the question "are you checking in?" the next step should be to listen and acknowledge understanding before moving on with standard processes. Almost all my interactions at the front desk involved repeating requirements and checking I had got through to people. Please encourage your people to focus on customers and not the screen when they deal with people. Avoiding eye contact and long silences while someone taps away at a keyboard without any explanation of what may be happening leads you to feel as though you are a major disruption and imposition on their busy day. A feeling that can be easily avoided with a little listening (using ears not mouth) followed by confirmation of requirements and a quick "let me check X for you - I'll be a minute or two".

Room was tidy, but a bit tired. I found the bed uncomfortable (and actually had a sore back for the remainder of that week). Didn't avail myself of any food options (because the room rate was already quite expensive and I found the breakfast rate even more expensive), business centre, gym etc. And I found it galling that in order to receive included Wi-Fi, I needed to sign up to the Sofitel loyalty program. So, all in all, I wouldn't stay here again when I'm paying for the room.

For 5 star expectation, the room was run down (especially the bathroom and TV). The in-room dining was of below average quality despite being priced high. The service and staff were great but the hotel seemed generally run down and the food and room quality was not worth the cost at all.

As the shower is in the bath, access is difficult for an older guest. Poor shower screen that does not prevent large amounts of water flowing to the floor. Disconcerting and dangerous. Offered a choice of guest amenities on arrival, none provided. Staff as always, professional and friendly.

As a regular guest this was my worst stay in 2 years. I was in room 849, the bed was uncomfortable and in the hallway opposite there is some sort of service room with staff coming and going with equipment (squeaky wheels) and the door slamming shut each time.

A special mention to Johnny Aslan for our upgrade and extras, most appreciated really made our stay special. Main complaint which I mentioned upon checking out was the pressure in the shower was non existent. Water was hot but came out as if running from garden tap. Also because I am allergice to feathers, I needed the housekeeping to change my linen. I did apologise for forgetting to mention it when I booked and, as often, didn't occur to us until we went to sat on beds. Housekeeping did take a little while to respond then proceeded to change beds with what I would call "bad humour". A second guy arrived and he was all smiles but damage done. Overall, stay was most enjoyable and the remainder of staff excellent (especially in piano bar and concierge) and very helpful and I would stay again.

we chose the Sofitel as we had stayed there before and were impressed with the whole experience. It is in a position where we can with a short walk go to the Opera, the Rocks, or shopping in the heart of Sydney. The ferries at Circular Quay are a 5 mins walk. The hotel has a welcoming ambience which is followed up by the staff right from when you approach the entry doors you are greeted. We upgraded our stay to include the Sofitel Club which added a very nice feeling as it provided a quiet place to read, enjoy food and drinks and our breakfast. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed. Wifi was available if needed. The overall experience of this stay will ensure we return again.

Great service but room was dated including bathroom, poor tv options and reception (recommend you upgrade tvs to be able to screen mirror from guests devices to at least allow guests to view their own material like Netflix etc if reception is poor.); and unfortunately my bill had a number of inaccuracies however staff were very helpful and prompt in getting this sorted correctly. Staff service was very good throughout including breakfast and porters etc.
