Had to work at my clients site in the Aldgate area of London at my expense. Found this hotel on Accor website; very competitively priced and close to DLR. reception staff were very helpful and efficient. Rooms were clean and modern after recent refurb. Barman was cheerful. Bar/restaurant evening menu was limited and could be improved. Breakfasts here are substantial and are value if you are a hearty eater. Local restaurants are aimed at Exhibition Attendees. Prices of accom varies considerably; high when Excel Exhibition Centre has function but competitive at other times. Novotel next door has Restaurant/Bar with Sky and BT sports TV. DLR service is frequent; Aldgate Liverpool Str and Bank are all a short walk from Tower Gateway DLR station.

« Poor Management of Group Booking »

Although this hotel is perfectly adequate in terms of cleanliness and comfort the booking management is terrible. We had 9 rooms booked in this hotel for business and unfortunately 4 of these rooms were moved to a hotel that wasn't just next door but a ten minute taxi ride away. This hindered our entire trip, the hotel should consider moving solo travellers in this sort of instance.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. It is true indeed that we have to relocate the 4 guests in a different hotel due to unforeseen circumstances and as a rule of thumb we are trying to do with individual reservations. In this particular occasion the reservation were made individually and there was not a sign for us to know that the bookings were as a part of a group. The hotel policy says that reservations of 7 rooms or more are treated as a group booking and have to be reserved via our Business or Leisure Group Coordinator. The hotel has contacted the guests as soon as we were aware of the issue in order to minimize the hassle and has organised complementary cab for the transportation of the guest to the ExCeL area. Everything was fine the room was clean, there was a slight confusion with check in as we had a number of rooms but the staff were very friendly and efficient and sorted it out quickly. One suggestion would be for a hand towel as well as a bath towel.

The room was ideal for a city trip, always cleaned well. The staff was friendly and helpful. Location is near a DLR, the Emirates Air-Line and various restaurants. However, the bedding, especially the pillows, were uncomfortable because of their hardness. Unfortunately, our late check-out option didn't work and we had to get our key cards reprogrammed and they wanted us to leave early, until we told them about our late check-out. But even if the hotel is near London City Airport, you don't get any noise of the landing and starting planes.
