« Disappointing »

Everything was ok, but had to wait over one hour for our welcome drink. We also had to change rooms due to the noise of the A/C - why install a split system yet have the condenser in the room??? Apart from the above most of the staff were helpful and courteous and the facilities as expected.

« terrible room, stinky carpet = low tarif is a bait »

i booked a room at the Grand Mercury Brasilia via internet and was attracted by the good tariff and a nice picture of a nice room. upon arrival at the hotel, i was faced with an extremely old room, with old furniture and a terribly stinky carpet. went down to the reception and learnt that some rooms of the hotel were renewed but in order to get a decent room, i'd have to pay additional R$200. because i had no other choice, i reluctantly agreed but made a clear protest that the pictures shown at their website refer to the new rooms but showing the lower tariff. this was a scam! the guy at the front desk charged me R$100 in addition instead of R$200 which helped the situation but still, the wrong picture at the wrong tariff is kinda scam. the new room is great. breakfast is really poor for the amount charged (R$49).

Front desk staff were helpful, room was clean if a little worn (e.g. shower tap handle could come off in your hand), generally friendly though my lack of Portuguese was a hindrance when for example there was no coffee available first thing at breakfast (06h00).

« Nice Hotel with a central location »

The newly refurbished rooms are nice, however I feel some upgrades are necessary in the furniture. The room I stayed is technically a room with a single queen-sized bed. In reality , they are using two single bed box-springs under a double-sized mattress. The box-springs are not prepared to sit over a non-carpet flooring. The pads on their feet do not have enough grip to stay in place. By sitting on the bed to watch TV, I could feel the entire bed move away from the wall. Speaking about the TV, that too needs some upgrade, it is small for a room of that size, and it the TV channels provided by the hotel are not on HD. The bathroom is very nice, shower is excellent. One little thing that bother me was that there was only one trash can in the room, which was in the bathroom. There should be another trash can by the work table on the room.

« better than most , a few cheap changes would make this hotel shine »

Overall good hotel, a few changes would make a lot of difference. 1. offer express check out and express check in option. for instance allow customers to sing off to check out at check in time, provide credit card, and drop the key and leave without cueing to the reception, often very busy. 2. A small investment could make the gym so much better. First it must be clean. The floors are broken up and filthy. I was not able to do any exercise on the floor for how dirty they were. Leave some space to work out rather than covering the whole room in machines, maybe outdoors. 3. Water: please have some water at arrival in the room.

Bedroom old furniture and mattress, carpet worn and dirty, cupboard non accessible because of double bed. Lobby and reception fine but wrong advice was given by staff here. This is definitely not a 6 stars standing hotel, no way.

« Disappointing experience in a supposedly good chain »

Positives: Reception staff were really helpful and went out of their way to assist me. The Buffet was good, the kitchen service was fast. Negatives: The room wasn't tidied properly every day. The bed cover sheets had many small holes in them. Water bottle wasn't replaced every day - although was empty. Air conditioning unit was noisy. The room finishing was tired overall although I was in a Deluxe room.

The standard room is really good, the sink and the microwave oven were very usefull, but the superior room, that we stay at the last day, which has a better looking, there’s no towel hanger, the machine of air conditioner stay inside the room (only separated by a small door), and it make a louder noise than the one on standard room. The bathroom don’t have light spot and the “open” restroom is not a good idea when you have company.

« Good value for money »

1st night in an outdated noisy room on the highway. Very bad experience as my booking was flex I was about to change of hotel. The hotel was not ffully booked and I spent the 5 other nights in a new room. Which was far better and nice, whereas also a little noisy with the street.

« After the check-in - all well went »

The check-in process was very badly managed. I arrived around 9PM and was hoping for a quick check-in. Eventhough the queue was not long, the check-in took very long. I decided to take a seat and wait patiently. However, the receptionist just started serving other people who arrived after me. Very bad service. After that, luckily the stay went uphill again. Got a nice room. Service at the bar was nice. Accomodation was good.
