Clean and everything I needed for a short low budget stay. Breakfast was great value. I love to see outside so a net curtain on window would have been nice so i could open blind without everyone in carpark looking straight in. And a rail to hang a towel near basin. But only minor inconveniences.

I arrived at 9:40, reception was already closed even though supposed to be open until 10pm. I had asked my husband to contact them and request a code in case I was arriving after 10pm so no problem with gaining access. I was looking forward to a shower after a long drive but the water was barely lukewarm with just the hot water turned on. Bed is always comfortable and aircon great. As I had to be in Sydney by 9am I left early, it was still dark when I got up, turned the light on to have several cockroaches running away from the light. Found a cockroach in my bath bag that was sitting on the hand basin and another on the wall beside the hand basin, I took two photos of the one on the wall beside the hand basin. I departed at 6:15, I was under the impression that breakfast was from 6am as per the letter in the envelope with my key and I had prepaid the $1 breakfast, only the inconvenience of having to grab something on the way upset me. Overall not a positive experience. I sent a message and a copy of the photos to the Manager on the mobile number provided with the key, she was extremely apologetic and was arranging for a full refund. Not sure I would feel comfortable staying there again though. We have stayed there several times as we live in Grafton and it is a good distance to travel after work and then a quick trip into Sydney the next morning. Jeannette C.

First and foremost, this is a budget hotel and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. The price reflects this. Its small, clean and everything works. If you want a 4/5 star hotel room, go elsewhere and pay accordingly

Staff on Friday/Saturday morning were extremely unfriendly-everything was too difficult. We were ignored when speaking to staff.

I am very disappointed to hear that you felt like a burden and would like to invite you to come back so that I can show you the hospitality that I am trying to pride the hotel on now that I have just taken over as General Manager. I have look at the roster and spoken to all staff that were involved with your stay to ensure their customer service is inline with our Accor values. I do apologise that the fire alarm disturbed your stay, it definitely disturbed ours too! We are glad that it was a false alarm and the situation was dealt with swiftly to ensure the safety of our guests and ensure the house rules were maintained. I am working very hard to improve the quality of facilities provided here at Wallsend and look forward to personally meeting you in the future should we recieve your booking again. Very nasty. Razor blade cuts in floor of shower. Toilet roll with only enough for 1 use, if that. Was told is have a double bed, only had 2 singles. Remote for tv didn't work. Looked clean enough although felt grotty. Woke up next morning feeling crook. I Left asap.

I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. I have looked at your booking and noticed that it was placed into a King Bed room. We do split these rooms occasionally for group bookings, and I regret if the HSK department failed to follow instructions putting the bed back together as a double. As a new General Manager I am looking at improving the facilities and hope we can demonstrate that on your future stays. Whilst I can't fix the structure of the room without waiting for the next refurbishment, I am working hard on the soft benefits and creature comforts. This includes new lighting for the hotel that isn't as harsh and more cost effective, new Ibis Budget Sweet beds to improve the comforts of all the rooms and better guest amentities. Broken window equals noisy room

The window was broken allowing the full roar of the busy junction outside to flood the room. Upon looking at the window to make sure it was closed (it was) I noticed a large gap in a strong breeze coming into the room. It had obviously been attempted to be fixed before as there was some remnants of foam on the window. Long story short. An awful nights sleep.

The ladder to the top bunk blocks the view of the tv if your underneath on the double bed.. the remote to the tv was broken aswell.. I just wanted a night 2 myself 2 watch movies, pig out on food i dont have 2 share, and to sleep in the nxt day. The last few years it has been getting harder and harder 2 tryn get just one night 2 myself, I used 2 stay with u once a month.. now im lucky if its once every 12months..with prices of everything going up.. god only knows when il b able 2 afford 2 take my 2 girls on a holiday somewhere. It'd b really cool if there was a competition each month, n wen u stay ur name goes in the draw 2 win a one or 2nites stay 2 use within the month, depending on the location and price of the hotel of course..

I can see that you booked a QAC which includes the bunk and may have been all we have left! This does run at a slightly higher price than our Queens unfortunately that do not include the overhead bunk. We also have King beds available for purchase at a cheaper rate, all subject to availability. Our rates are cheaper the longer lead time you book. So if you book in advance, you get a cheaper deal! We are also starting up the facebook page again and will provide best value offers through this market. You also have the opportunity to join our Le Club program for your chance to win holidays like you mentioned, and earn points on every stay that you can cash in for accomodation. Unfortunately these do not apply to the budget brand of the Accor system but do apply in all other hotels. The room was crawling with bugs and roaches, I killed a dozen upon walking in the room, spiders on the pillows, at least the bed had clean sheets. The shower and toilet were abysmal!! Never again. If I was not so hard up to get a room I would have left!! I bought a can of surface spray at a local conviennce store and emptied it in the room, the next morning there were still more bugs!! Absolutely disgusting.
