« Room 130 Was extremely noisy with alcave outside window. The bed was below normal good standard. »

Have stayed with Ibis Newcastle on many occasions and have always been satisfied customers. Room 130 on this occasion was extremely noisy because of the echoing effect from the traffic caused by the alcave in the building outside our roomwindow. The bed , mattress was extremely uncomfortable compared to other beds in other rooms that we have stayed in. It is suffice to say that we will not be requesting this room again. Overall value and experience from previous stays has been good, enough for us to return visit.

The whole hostel smelt of mould and stale cigarettes and had a damp feeling in the air. The room itself was tiny, and weirdly set out. With the bathroom being the size of an airplane toilet, no curtain for the shower, no room to dry or get changed. The sink was also on the other side of the room which is ridiculous. The bathroom smelt like sewerage and mould and I used it as little as possible to avoid smelling this awful stench.

All staff, not just the housekeepers, are currently implementing procedures to ensure all the rooms are serviced appropriately and anything broken, damaged or in need of repairs is adddressed. We are doing the best we can with the design of the building as the Ibis Budget took over a previous motel. We have invested in an external linen company which will assist in providing bathmats for the bathrooms themselves. I do apologise for your stay and I hope we can assist better in the future. « Very basic but comfortable, spoiled by the smell »

The room was very basic but as I expected. The bed was very clean and comfortable. I used the microwave in the corridor and the fridge and kettle were welcome additions. Unfortunately my whole experience was completely spoilt by the smile coming from the toilet / a stale smell of urine. This was extremely unpleasant when I needed to shower the next morning.

Bad guest experience, lady at check in was blunt and rude - not welcoming at all. Room was very basic, not hot water, shower smelled, tried to call front desk regarding no hot water and no one answered the phone. Will not be staying again

I will be speaking to the front office staff to ensure that they are providing their absolute best at all times throughout our guests stay. The rooms here are simple and provide just what our guests need for an overnight stay. I do apologise that the shower smelt and there was no hot water. We have our plumber come and service the water systems regularly and this issue has been rectified. As for the staff not being available at the desk, again I do apologise. Sometimes we do leave the desk to assist guests in rooms, to update the sign out the front or to correspond with contractors. We are never away from the desk for more than 5 minutes where possible. « It was hard to forget the cockroach that I saw at the hand basin when I first walk »

Overall the experience was OK What I expected. But as stated the first thing I saw was a cockroach and it is very off putting. I could of asked for another room but if they are in one room they would of been in others

The light in the bathroom was not working the first night . The floor was very wet from mopping when I got back to my room at about 4pm ! Too wet to walk barefooted comfortably!! In the morning when I was waiting for a lift with family to visit my father in hospital I asked if I could sit at one of the tables in the foyer to do work while waiting to be told the mesh doors were about to be locked as the young lady was leaving ! She suggested I sit on the chair outside at which I pointed out there were none! I would not necessarily recommend it as a place to stay based on the above !

I do apologise that your bathroom light wasn't working the first night and I am glad it was remedied for the rest of your stay. We did have a busy few days throughout your stay and unfortunately this meant our housekeepers were servicing rooms late into the afternoon. I do apologise that yours must have been serviced just before your return to the hotel. We are investing in some outdoor seating for our guests as we do close the reception/dining area between 10am and 12pm daily. Basic room was comfortable and clean.There was no bath mat so I had to use one of the towels to stop the floor remaining wet and slippery. Although booking stated toiletries there was only soap.Booking should state this. The stairs need vacuuming but the rest of the hotel was nice and clean.Staff very helpful.

We do have bedrooms on the smaller size but attempt to construct them in a way that provides the best amenities without overcrowding to our guests. I have logged a call with the vending machine company and am waiting for them to come out and repair that vending machine! It does however accept card and exact change at the moment. I’m sorry to say - The receptionist was miserable in her disposition, no smile. The pillows were the absolute worst!! Lumpy and uncomfortable. The toilet seat was broken. I half expected we would be blamed for it. I generally felt uncomfortable in the area. Some non desirables were hanging around outside.
