« Just the job »

Only one night but suited me well

« Good »

Good except toilet kept flushing and I had to turn off the water supply to get to sleep. Forgot to mention this to management in the morning. Otherwise good for a budget hotel. Room clean. Staff friendly and efficient. Adequate breakfast.

« Basic but VFM »

Stayed here saved money which was invested in a good meal. Hotel is very basic, but adequate: old Premier Classe, with practically no changes.

« Not the best Ibis hotel I've stayed in »

Hotel was clean and bed comfortable but the en suite was tired and in need of updating (no plug in sink just hole where I lost a lipstick I accidently dropped). The corridor carpet was threadbare.

« Bedroom smelt of damp and was very unpleasant. »

We decided to use your budget range of hotels to keep the cost down. We will not be doing so in future after this holiday ( we have booked one more of you budget Hotels which we are now no longer looking forward to) as it was a truly disappointing experience.

« No air conditioning, insufficient parking. »

The website makes much of the private outdoor parking, but it was unavailable and we had to park our car packed to the roof for our journey home on the street. I counted 22 spaces for 66 rooms and while the word private implies the car park is not open to the public, it is. Since our stay I have found a symbol on the website below the hotel images indicating that there is no air conditioning, so I only have myself to blame for the hot night with the window open and waking up covered in insect bites. I think I could have done better. The corridors and rooms themselves are in the same style as a Premier Classe, but the bed was more comfortable. The Ibis Budget I had stayed in before was in a different league

« Good location, family room was excellent »

We arrived in pouring rain so were glad the parking is next to the hotel. But the receptionist told us that the parking was limited, thankfully there were plenty of spaces. I was also surprised that the prepaid room which was clearly showing on the paper I printed from Accor hotels reservations was actually not prepaid according to the receptionist., and I 'need to check my bank statement to see if I have been charged twice.' I will have to do this, was a little disappointed at the situation. the family room was a good size, basic but clean. Breakfast was great.

« Not friendly and welcoming it clean »

Not friendly experience receptionist couldn't be bothered and the room and bathroom was not very clean. I have stayed in basic hotels before and 5 star hotels and this was not great at all no good feeling about it at all could do with freshening up and felt quite dated.

« Good value for basic hotel »

Fine. Hotel serviceable, bathroom not in great condition and towels/ bedding clean but not particularly soft. No tea or coffee facilities in room, but that to be expected given low price. Good night's sleep and shower fine. Would probably use again, though would perhaps pay more for something nicer. Short walk to various shops and places to eat.

« Terrible »

Receptionist unhelpful and rude. Very upsetting. The hotel was also grim and we had chosen it because it had secure parking which turned out to be limited.

« Server the purpose we needed »

The hotel is perfectly positioned and easy to find. Our only criticism is the parking situation. We arrived at 7pm and the car park was full. We were travelling with bikes on the roof of our car,if we'd known about the parking we may have rethought our stay. I did check before I travelled and was informed on the phone that it would have been at a cost of €4 per night.

« Good location and great value »

The hotel is in a great location and has its own car parking next door, which is good value too. The rooms are comfortable and large enough for a family of three, although the bathrooms only have a shower and are on the small side. The breakfast was worth paying for but the breakfast room is slightly too small for the number of guests so it's a bit of a squeeze. It's central location means it's handy for the shops and there's a supermarket less than 5 minutes walk away. The drive from the autoroute to the hotel is around 5 minutes too. Overall a good experience.

« The worst hotel in the world? »

All we wanted was a budget hotel with parking in Boulogne; instead we had to park in the street and received a very un-French and more importantly un-Ibis welcome. The hotel itself was grim like an averagely maintained detention centre, but perhaps it is unreasonable to expect more for €85 per night. We booked the hotel because it had secure private parking and when we arrived a man (we assumed to be staff or another guest) opened the gate to the parking compound for us with the code. We parked up and walked to reception. The receptionist was clearly not very happy (no traditional greeting or pleasantries – perhaps this is part of the no frills style) and quite abrupt when I asked the cost of the parking. Pointing at her scrappy desk sign, she made it clear that the car park is full and that we had to park in the street. We explained we were already parked in the car park and we were told in no uncertain terms that this was completely unacceptable, all the spaces were reserved by guests who were out for the evening in their cars. In my partner’s best French (admittedly very rusty) we tried to express our disappointment that there was not sufficient parking, as this was only reason we had chosen the hotel (we were borrowing the car and it was full of all our camping equipment/bikes etc) and the website did not indicate that parking was limited or had to be booked in advance. The receptionist made it clear that she and her manager had nothing to do with the website and that it was totally unreasonable to expect unlimited parking at a hotel and what on earth did we expect (her tone inferred that we were very stupid foreigners – perhaps we are for staying there). After this very uncomfortable conversation, we paid the balance and the receptionist escorted my partner to the parking compound to remove the car and park it in the street. Whilst these misunderstandings happen, I felt the receptionist should have remained polite and civil and not do her best to embarrass and upset us. My partner was in tears afterwards and to say it dampened our stay in Boulogne is an understatement. I have stayed at two other Ibis hotels (Tours and Lille) in the past month and the staff were very friendly and courteous.

Very poor accommodation, like a nursing home. No air con. But is a budget version.
