« Good location and great value »

The hotel is in a great location and has its own car parking next door, which is good value too. The rooms are comfortable and large enough for a family of three, although the bathrooms only have a shower and are on the small side. The breakfast was worth paying for but the breakfast room is slightly too small for the number of guests so it's a bit of a squeeze. It's central location means it's handy for the shops and there's a supermarket less than 5 minutes walk away. The drive from the autoroute to the hotel is around 5 minutes too. Overall a good experience.

« The worst hotel in the world? »

All we wanted was a budget hotel with parking in Boulogne; instead we had to park in the street and received a very un-French and more importantly un-Ibis welcome. The hotel itself was grim like an averagely maintained detention centre, but perhaps it is unreasonable to expect more for €85 per night. We booked the hotel because it had secure private parking and when we arrived a man (we assumed to be staff or another guest) opened the gate to the parking compound for us with the code. We parked up and walked to reception. The receptionist was clearly not very happy (no traditional greeting or pleasantries – perhaps this is part of the no frills style) and quite abrupt when I asked the cost of the parking. Pointing at her scrappy desk sign, she made it clear that the car park is full and that we had to park in the street. We explained we were already parked in the car park and we were told in no uncertain terms that this was completely unacceptable, all the spaces were reserved by guests who were out for the evening in their cars. In my partner’s best French (admittedly very rusty) we tried to express our disappointment that there was not sufficient parking, as this was only reason we had chosen the hotel (we were borrowing the car and it was full of all our camping equipment/bikes etc) and the website did not indicate that parking was limited or had to be booked in advance. The receptionist made it clear that she and her manager had nothing to do with the website and that it was totally unreasonable to expect unlimited parking at a hotel and what on earth did we expect (her tone inferred that we were very stupid foreigners – perhaps we are for staying there). After this very uncomfortable conversation, we paid the balance and the receptionist escorted my partner to the parking compound to remove the car and park it in the street. Whilst these misunderstandings happen, I felt the receptionist should have remained polite and civil and not do her best to embarrass and upset us. My partner was in tears afterwards and to say it dampened our stay in Boulogne is an understatement. I have stayed at two other Ibis hotels (Tours and Lille) in the past month and the staff were very friendly and courteous.

Very poor accommodation, like a nursing home. No air con. But is a budget version.

Stopped many times, formerly Etap and bedrooms improved. Basic accomodation but ideal for stop over with parking. As in most IBIS generall peaceful hotels enabling a good sleep Room 302, unfortunate smell in the bathroom

« It served a purpose »

The receptionist was the most unfriendly and unhelpful person that I have ever met behind a hotel desk. The rooms are tiny but it was for one night only so bearable

« Location fine if one wants to explore Boulogne »

Not so good for an overnight stop as I found the hotel difficult to find. It is the first Ibis Budget I have been to which charges for parking in its compound. Boulevard Daunou was not on my Satnav. Breakfast was fine, as was wi-fi. Room was comfortable but shower was small.

« A satisfactory experience. »

Having stayed here many times before all was as we expected. The room was clean and adequate for a one night stopover. Didn't have breakfast as we had to leave early. Staff were pleasant and obliging. Despite heat we had to close the window as the gulls are so noisy. Not much can be done about that! As a fairly basic hotel it does seem to be rather expensive since it upgraded in name.

« Generally OK but would have expected higher standard. »

Much lower quality compared to Ibis hotel we stayed at previous couple of nights.

« Fine for a one night stop »

Stayed here for one night after travelling on eurotunnel. The room was perfectly clean and functional and quiet overnight and had a gated car park to safely lock away my motorbike for 4 euro. Its an easy walk into the harbour/town area where there were restaurants, although most were closed on the Thursday evening we went. No complaints about this place. Its a basic budget hotel which served its purpose for the night.

« Very satisfactory »

Very satisfactory in every way. The reception staff were available to process our booking made earlier on line and explained how to access our room and the hotel late at night. We used the free wifi facility in our room to keep in touch with friends and family in the UK & USA. We were able to read the complimentary copy of the local newspaper kept in the foyer to find points of local interest and up-to-date news of the Pas de Calais area. At the end of the street was the local supermarket where we were able to stock up with wine and beer before our return to the UK. We were able to consult some brochures for information on where we might have our evening dinner. Our room was serviced daily by charming and pleasantly spoken ladies who supplied clean towels daily and serviced the shower and toilet efficiently. What more can one ask. Please thank all concerned for making our stay such a happy one. Regards Peter C.

« Decent budget hotel stay »

Great stay in Boulogne sur mer. Would definitely stay there again. Hotel convent location with free parking to the rear or paid hotel parking to side. Carrefour supermarket 2 minutes walk away.

« Trash collection as 6am alarm call »

Woken up by noisy trash collection at 6am. The bins were just outside my room.
