« Poor nights sleep »

Worst stay in an Accor Hotel. Constant humming from the ventilation system meant we could not sleep, so cut visit to 2 nights instead of the 3 booked. We registered issue on the first morning but when we came back in the evening the assistant manager on the front desk denied any knowledge of it and had a defensive attitude. Also the room was not vacuumed and the room layout although very stylish and modern meant that little privacy is afforded in the bathroom.

Constant mechanical humming from the ventilation system. Was booked in for 3 nights, left after 2. Confusion with assistant manager after we had reported the issue on the first morning. Room was not vacuumed

I had booked a castle view room months ago as a surprise gift and a treat, we never purchase nice rooms. I had been looking forward to it and talking about the booking ever since. Even though we had checked in online and we are Accor plus members on arrival my husband was told they had over booked these rooms. I was so upset. The pool towels were tiny (hand towels)! The water in our room was not restocked. The breakfast was poor too. Although lots of options the coffee was weak and undrinkable. The bacon was fatty and unappealing. I have no idea what you do to your scrambled egg but that too was horrid! Overall I think management needs to pull their socks up as we would not recommend this hotel to others. I am seriously considering my Accor membership.

« Enjoyable but disappointing due to small issues which shouldn't happen this calibre of hotel »

We have stayed in this hotel on 2 previous occasions and it was excellent hence why I booked 3 rooms for us to celebrate as a family my partner's 50th Birthday. The rooms were not available for check in at 2 pm. One of the became available shortly after to allow is to store all of the luggage. I had hope my partner could see our castle view in the daylight on arrival but we had to go out as we had a booking. On our return we all planned to visit the pool. Unfortunately only one of the 3 rooms had robes provided. We reported this to reception and had a 45 minute wait only to be told there were no more robes available in the hotel. The sauna was not working at the pool and tgere were no towels available both Friday evening and Saturday morning. Our castle view room only had one bath towel provided between me and my partner. We did get an extra one on request from reception. The keys did not work for each of our rooms at various times and we had to visit reception to have the keys corrected.

Had much better, was dissapointed. Also why does there have to be loud music on in Every area of the hotel? When we have breakfast we want to relax....not listen to loud background music first thing in the morning....as well, as noisy children also. Even in the foyer....music loud again...in the bar...Had to strain to have a conversation with my partner. Keep it low....

in general it was great, some issues in regards to the room we was promissed, cleaning of it, it took a long time to get the fridge replaced, bathrobes, never received a phone in the room that worked, towels where missing. For the bar I would say that the music needs to be reduced so one can sit there and have a conversation and the bartenders need to speed up. for the training centre it needs to be working equipment both roing and step equipment did not work or where broken. but in general ok

Staff at front desk really not interested (apart from one). Staff at breakfast amazing considering they were dealing with hundreds of hungry tourists all clamouring for food. Bedroom really didn't live up to our expectations - open plan bathroom, no bath and the family room "sofa" bed was shocking.

Welcome-very friendly Room-size etc I expect from Novotel. Unfortunately there were 2 mattress toppers on the bed so despite having windows open (January in Edinburgh!) the bed was uncomfortably warm. I had a very poor quality sleep. The linens/towels were cream in parts rather than pure white. Late breakfast during hols was a great touch. Staff were working very swiftly. It was incredibly busy & hectic so we ate basically and left. Reception very busy as we left so did not report.

This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and we have enjoyed each visit greatly The Staff are very friendly and we love the family friendly feel of the hotel We do however miss the Dinner Buffet!! Please bring it back

I would like to make a complaint if you can arrange this to be dealt with or if you can let me know who I need to contact to deal with it. I recently have stayed at Novotel as per the below booking and paid using some Tesco Clubcard vouchers and some cash. When I gave my voucher codes over the phone, I also gave my credit card details to complete the payment and then also received the below confirmation that nothing was left to pay at the hotel. When checking out of the hotel I was told I hadn't paid? I was unable to access my online banking and couldn't show that I had paid all I had was the email receipt as per the below that wasn't accepted. I would like to know how an email from you saying my room is fully paid for isn't good enough for the hotel to accept as payment confirmation? the hotel then said they would charge it again and if I have paid two times I will have to send you confirmation of this to get a refund, I don't think that this is good customer service at all as an additional payment has now been taken without my authority. Even if it was a mistake on the booking, I have been told the room is paid and would like the money refunding as soon as possible. I would also like to add that we were unable to check in to the room after 8pm which meant I was unable to change for to go shopping or for dinner which ruined my night at the hotel. I would also like you too look in to your data protection as when I booked the room, I did this separately from some family members that were staying at the hotel on the same night because I was hoping to surprise them. but for some reason someone from your office called my mother and gave her all my details over the phone saying I had booked a room with them how is this possible? The automatically generated confirmation might say that the reservation is paid in total as your credit card supposed to be charged at the time of your booking, however it never happened until your check out time. Unfortunately we are not able to process a refund on the card as according to our records it was charged only once. With regards to your data protection concerns, would you be able to tell me the name of the person who called you on behalf of the hotel? And for what reason was this call made? Started well then a few cleaning errors and miscommunications but later resolved Love the decoration and retro look of the hotel and great facilities Great bar area to Just a few things need addressing or could be just personal taste Cleaning and towels much more efficient Room towels could be a bit bigger ( especially bath towels ) The food could do with a little more taste and flavour upon the menu More colour and better presentation and some seasoning . Would be nice to see some more Scottish inspired food to morning breakfast was lovely ) Room service very efficient and very quick service The sink in the 502 room could be a little more bigger ( hard to fill kettle or coffee maker up and to splash upon the face or brush your teeth A notice for swimming pool near reception constant looking for information or asking Overall 7/10 good decoration Good facilities Safety very good Good location / signs and directions Staff very good and sorted problems fast Parking a bit hit and miss but fully understand with city location Honest truthful feeling and feedback

We regularly stay at Novatel around the country but the first time over Christmas . My one criticism would be Christmas dinner was a lot of frozen veg for the price of dinner £172 I would expect everything to be fresh. However it never dampened our stay.

« Not as good as other times »

We stayed in room 249 which we think has been updated. We felt that the updates caused us some practical difficulties. We didn’t like the sink in the bedroom, we didn’t like a sink without a plug or stopper mechanism and we found it difficult to fill the kettle under the tap. We also experienced some problems with the air conditioning, with the room not being warm enough some days/ nights. This could be because the room is at the extreme end of a corridor, perhaps having an external wall? And we didn’t like how, when someone was having a shower, the other person in the room could see right into the shower. Also the door on the toilet seems to have been designed not to fully close.
