I didn’t stay at the hotel at all. I booked the room through my Accor plus membership but my plans changed. Because it was not refundable, I checked both with the hotel and the membership centre, I lost my money.

Check in good. Good staff. Room - missing a towel and soap. Room key failed twice - the second time we were advised our booking was missing on the system. Staff not overly pleasant during this process. Breakfast - limited selection. Certain staples such as marmalade not available. Cook advised it had not been available for weeks. Check out fair.

On our first stay in early December we had an issue with the front desk regarding our Groupon booking and were advised that we would need to pay for parking and also if we wanted breakfast we had to pay for that too. I advised the clerk that the Groupon deal we had purchased included free parking, free breakfast for both my husband and myself - when I again told the clerk this was not the case she was vague - I also mentioned we had a credit of $30 for the bar/restaurant. We booked in and enjoyed our stay, my husband went to breakfast I didnt - so when we went to the front desk to check out our bill was processed and handed to me for payment ??? They advised us we would need to pay for the parking and the two breakfasts even though I didnt even attend plus our bar bill of less than $30 I again went over the entire thing again and it was the same staff member - I asked her to call the manager on duty who came and it was sorted, I wanted to tell you that first as what I am about to tell you is far from satisfactory. My husband left the room to take our luggage to our car and I heard him return very quickly and I assumed he forgot something - but NO NO he didnt and it wasnt my husband. A young male of Indian appearance opened my door and stepped in & I was shocked as I was dressing to leave - at no time did this person knock or call out - he just let himself in and I am sure you can check the Room Key Log and see he entered our room before 12pm, I was in shock and all he did was ask me what time we were checking out???? and I said back when my husband returns, this employee of IBIS didnt knock once and just opened the door and walked in on me dressing. I advised the desk staff of the incident and they didnt know what to say to me and didnt handle the situation well is all I will say. I recived a request after our stay to complete the survey and to be fair I didnt initially complete the survey but chose to contact the Manager of the IBIS Hotel in Newcastle instead to discuss and he called me back to discuss what happened and apologized for the incident and I told him I only sent my comments to him to investigate. He was appreciative of this and I also confirmed with him we would be returning again on 28th December for two nites - he stated to me on the phone dont worry I really appreciate you not just sending a bad survey and we will take care of you and your husband on the 28th December and that he would be working that day so would meet us when we checked in. Well we arrived and spent two days at the hotel and not ONCE did anyone come near us to discuss what had happened - we are very disappointed in the lack of contact from the manager especially after a MALE staff member had walked in on me whilst I was dressing. If this is how you take care of a guest - You have failed miserably - Also I wish to make note - the staff & Manager appeared to present this as a terrible accident and a one off - Well not that is incorrect as after our second visit when nobody came to discuss what had happened I checked on Trip Advisor for reviews and to my surprise that is not the case the exact same thing happened to another female guest when a male member of housekeeping walked in on her - All I can do now is to respond here today - A most unsatisfactory ending with no result and no remorse - Thumbs down Ibis Newcastle - shame on you.

At first we weren't sure as the bed was missing a leg. The kind receptionist had to fix it with an old VCR player so the bed wouldn't rock anymore. After that it was fine. Breakfast was good. Staff friendly and helpful.

Very pleasant and comfortable. It was clean and quiet. The room was missing the TV remote control but the staff soon provided me with another remote. Staff were friendly and polite and keen to provide a good service.

« Not bad for a budget venue »

A reasonable location in the city. The rooms are OK in a budget sense. The hotel is clean and can provide breakfast and a bar. The parking is free but not abundant and is a little bit confusing. The first night we thought we were blocked in before realising we could move a chain to get out, which we had to do ourselves. Reasonably cheap, so I suppose you get what you pay for.

Really was an enjoyable and relaxing stay here at IBIS after coming back from holidays. Bed and black out curtains were just good. Only put off was the old carpets in the corridor tothe room. Would be a good time to refurbish the halls
