Hated the 'reception ' area. It felt like an exhibition display stand. However all the staff were well mannered and helpful. The room was better than those in a rival chain. All our needs were taken care of, including a Bible being provided on request when there wasn't one in the roim. A tiny maintenance task was carried out swiftly. Breakfast far better than expected , in fact quite lavish, with delicious cheese and proper ham and a selection of breads for he Continental version an local sausages served with the coked breakfast. Biggest grouse was the truly depressing bar/ public sitting area which was dismal, scuffed and felt like a rather tired youth club. As this hotel caters for business travellers, a comfortable we;coming bar lounge rather than a vast coldly lit space dominated by a pool table doesn;t look like a plavce to bring a client for a quiet chat over a drink. Neither was it welcoming to our family group.

Good but the bath towels are very small, otherwise the facilities in the room were fine. Staff were very polite and friendly, always happy to help and assist you if needed. We had breakfast and food was good.

what I expected, nice room and very clean... would say only gripe was the fact no standard reception desk, came in and wondered around until a member of staff came out and found me... saw this happen to another guest as well...

on arrival there was no one there to book us in and tell us about the need to log our car registration, it was only because I saw someone else doing it that I thought I ought to. We went up to our room which was very cold as the heater was not on, had a shower which was ok apart from being very cold due to the fact there is no heating in the bathroom,then went down to the bar to have a drink and maybe a meal. The bar service was slow, there was nobody working behind the bar and the drinks were vastly overpriced. I bought a pint of Fosters lager and my partner had a bottle of Bulmers cider. When we wanted another drink my partner went to the bar to be told they had run out of Fosters, at 9.oopm on a saturday night. We took our custom across the road to the priory and spent an enjoyable evening there. on our return to the ibis we retired to bed with the heater on and when we woke up the the room was far too cold even though the heater was "warm".

Nice hotel but a little tired Carpets could do with an upgrade and odd chips in bath.. Staff superb .Very helpful and attentive. Always try to help. Good location from main road. Food menu a little limited but always good quality and attractively served.

« The hotel was very good, but the booking system needs a serious overhaul. See below. »

I made a mistake by one day when booking. I then received an email from you saying I would not be penalised for this error! I then discover the amount I have charged has been increased by 52 pounds, this to me seemed a vey devious way to make.I was penalised and has left a very bitter taste. It is very difficult to reach you by telephone on one occasion 15 minutes, and the music is awful.
