The only fault that I can find with this hotel is the absence of hand towels. As a senior citizen I cannot handle the very large bath towels that are provided. Other than that everything is fine and it is good value for money

One of the best budget hotels I've stayed at. Never have any problems..... Although there was one min or problem this time. Noisey neighbours! People in a nearby room were talking loudly and laughing into the early hours. Not usually a problem because the rooms are well sound proofed. But they must have been sat near their open window.... in the end we had to shut out window to shut them out a bit! But otherwise a perfect stay again. Breakfast good as usual. One thing I did notice is, the reception area counter has gone. All that was there was a couple if women standing holding a mobile phone and card machine..... no where to put anything which made checking in a little awkward..... I'm not sure this is a permanent thing buy it did seem a little odd! But it didn't spoil our stay and we'll definitely be stay again!

« Nice welcome but could be more comfortable... »

We received a good welcome at reception. The room was clean. However, overlooking the car park there was a little noise during the early hours. And from around 6am tobacco smoke drifted through the open window as we were directly above the main entrance which was also "smokers' corner". Otherwise our stay was comfortable and would not deter others from staying there at the price we paid.

As on previous visits, we received a warm welcome at reception and the room and adapted bathroom were clean. There was plenty of space in the room to accomadate my wife's walking aid and the adaptted bathroom was similarly spacious. The only minor problem was the type of soap dispenser in the bathroom. The dispensor is attached to the wall and requires the application of some force to the tude to actually get the soap out. It would have been better had there been a bar of soap and seaparate small bottles of shower gel in the bathroom - my wife found the current arrangment quite trying and not easy to use. If there were separate toiletries avaiable for customers with disabilies this would raise my overall rating to 9 or 10 from the current 8. There was a minor problem with the booking system. As we needed an adabpted bathroom we booked directly with the hotel - however, the booking system at the hotel was unable to link our booking to our LeClub card account. At the time of booking, the hotel team mention that the system was not linking our card number and e-mail address. As a result we did not receive a confirmatory e-mail. When I logged in to our LeClub account online, the booking had not been added to our account. This meant I then had to ring Customer Support, fortunately the team member I spoke to was able to amend our booking, so that it was linked to our account, but I did need to stay on line when he checked with the hotel as he was unable to return my call once the original booking had been confirmed with the hotel. This system weakness appears to have arisen in the last ten weeks, as our previous booking directly with the hotel did not suffer from this problem. There was also a system outage during our stay, which meant that the restaurant and bar team were unable to process credit card payments for meals and drinks. In our case this did not matter as we had the time to settle our bill in the morning as part of checking-out. In my opinion, these problems should be investigated so that these weaknesses do not arise again the future. In spite of these difficulties the on-duty team did not flag in their attitude in ensuing that all the customers were able to enjoy their stay. (A 10/10 on that point). The final item that appeared strange was the replacement of the reception desk with a table/cupboard arrangement, while keeping the printer in the (now) locked office area away from the reception table. This meant that after payments had been processed the on-duty team had to leave the receptino area to enter the locked office to retrive VAT invoices etc - not really helpful to the customer. Again the on-duty team dealt with what I would call "a senior managment change for change's sake idea" without complaint or comment. That is a testiment to the team's morale and desire to be the best that in my opinion senior management meddle with at their peril. Out of interest has the person who came up with this idea ever worked in reception at a busy hotel, or is his/her experience limited to theory alone? When we next book a stay at an IBIS hotel, we look forward to the restoration of the previous trouble free linking of our booking to our LeClub account and to experiencing the usual warm welcome and friendly service at our destination.

Not too sure if I like the open plan check-in desk. I had requested 2 rooms on the 3rd floor at the back of the hotel but was only given 1 room on the 3rd floor and the other was on the 1st floor near the lift. When we checked in only 1 room was ready so we said we'd get the other room when we returned later. When we returned I was given the room on the 1st floor which is not what I had requested.When I asked to be moved I was advised the hotel was full and this was not possible. I mentioned I had requested particular rooms but was advised the request had not reached the hotel!! Very frustrated as we use this hotel every year and have had no previous problems.

« The bathroom sink made me vomit and there were cobwebs everywhere - will not be returning. »

I complained on two consecutive days about the foul smell coming from the sink when the taps were run. On the first occasion, I came back to my room and noticed that some bleach (or other blue liquid) had been poured down the sink and the plug removed. On the second morning, I actually vomited while cleaning my teeth as the smell so so foul I couldn't bear it. I complained again but didn't notice anything different when i next returned to my room. There were cobwebs all over the ceiling of the room - not very welcoming. I saw posters in the hotel during my stay about your 15 minute satisfaction guarantee or your stay will be free. under the circumstances, I would like to call on that guarantee please - i look forward to hearing form someone about my refund (louise@meadesandco.co.uk).

The place hotel itself is looking tired, especially in the corridors. I appreciate that this can happen but it was the smell that accompanied it that was the problem. It was unpleasent at best. The room itself was adequate which was fine and what I expected. It was clean (apart from the carpet) and was suitable for the price. The staff I didn't find very helpful I'm afraid. I was only given a single key card which meant that whenever I had to go out (on business) either my wife and child had to stay in the dark or couldn't leave the hotel as I would have no way back into the room. I had especially chosen this hotel as it was 'dog friendly'. I have a minature schnauzer and being able to take him away with us was central to us using yourself. I found out that your hotel did not do food on the Friday, and the adjoining pub didn't accept dogs. This was a bit of a pain and ended up with a KFC which was a shame. The real problem was on the Saturday morning when I had ordered breakfast (specifically asking on the phone whether my dog would be a problem as was told it would not) as I was then informed that I would only be able to sit in the reception area. Although this in itself wouldn't have been a problem, there were already people sat having a coffee at the only table. This meant that I had to ask for a refund as I was unable to have breakfast. When this was done I noticed a number of your staff having a bit of a giggle and looking in our direction (they were only 3m away and it was quite clear they were talking about us). It was a shame that, when we went to check out, we were approached by a very kind and pleasant lady who tried to apologise for the trouble, but we'd already overheard one of the giggling staff state "Oh no, here she comes" either to the direction of my wife or the only member of staff who showed any professionalism. This experience with your staff (not with the hotel) which means I will not be using this hotel again and possibly not a hotel from your chain. It is a real shame. Michael Haslam

Easy check-in, room is good, staff very pleasant and helpful. Only negative issue was stench of smoke at entrance doors, foyer and lifts. I think staff had been spraying air freshener to try to get rid to no avail.
