The staff is welcoming and caring except at the bar where one can seat for half an hour without someone from the staff asking you what you want to take. I am regular at the hotel and this happened to me a number of times. At breakfast, can you add small cups to be able to serve the marmelades

Very large and spacious room. Happy I paid extra for the premium room as there were 3 of us sharing with a double bed and 1 single bed. Stayed 2 nights and although outside temperatures were in excess of 33 degrees C, was able to stay cool with the help of the AC and thick curtains! Good power shower and comfortable beds.

We were helped on several occasions with our travel plans. The fron desk printed off our train tickets from my I pad. That saved us a lot of trouble. Overall our room was great. A small problem was that the hotel seemed a bit mean with their coffee and milk mini packs although the man at the bar was happy to replenish as necessary.

Our rooms 305 and 308 were spacious and comfortable. It was great to have tea and coffee provided in the rooms, although it was let down a bit by providing little wooden stirrers instead of proper spoons. My friend’s wheelchair needs, bed and wet room were exactly as she wanted and as I requested. She was very happy although said the room was a little too warm during the night. We were slightly disappointed with the access from the street and having to use the little wheelchair lift which was very slow. A gently sloping ramp up to the reception area would be nice. We liked the bar area and the luggage locker system. We also liked the hotel’s convenient location next to the main railway station.

This is my 1st review on any website or for that matter anything. I thought giving this feedback is important cause someone like us who is travelling to a new country and exploring should know what to expect. The person who welcomed on our Arrival was the only person who smiled during our 4 days stay. The others or the lady at the reception on check out was so cold and rude, like we were staying there seeking shelter and not customers who paid to enjoy our stay. It really hurts when you pay (and expensive enough during Holiday season) and don't get treated well. This is hospitality industry and I would say people in the reception should be warm and welcoming (not cold and indifferent). Then there was this girl in the bar (we were offered free welcome drinks, we made time on the 3rd night to enjoy a quiet drink in the lounge area.) who when we approached saying we have been offered option to have drinks, treated us like we were asking some free food, which really annoyed me. It really made me angry cause we have paid upfront in full money for our stay and no one can treat us this way. I don't care if they don't smile but talking with such a rude face makes you regret why we were there. In general, we found people in Belgium were rude and cold (literally no one smiled and returned a greeting), so I think we cannot expect much from the hotel staff. I wouldn’t want to blame the Accor Hotel management either for this, looks like in Belgium it’s a custom not to be warm, everyone gave us the same look. We also found that room was not cleaned properly for 3 days though the cleaning staff had come in to clean, they did not change the sheets or cleaned the room (just arranged the bed, replaced tissues and left). We had to request for the room to be cleaned in the actual sense. We have always stayed at Ibis no matter which country and we specifically like it because of the way it’s designed, affordable and the accessibility it has to the main landmark sites in the region. But we found this one - Ibis Gare Midi is not in a decent locality (although right next to Eurostar station), there were too many African men (no offence) shouting, yelling, intimidating and we could not get sleep during the nights due to the constant noise. It was definitely scary to go for a walk once it gets dark. We still love Ibis hotels and if you have an option, I would suggest you chose Central Station Ibis hotel, which though is in the centre of Grand Place area is much nicer and safe.

Reasonable hotel right next to the station. Some areas in need of refurbishing, but it looks like they are doing that in stages. There is a luggage room which is useful if you are not travelling on straight after checkout - you need euro coins for it

Not a good accor hotels experience

The staff on the desk were indifferent and didn't even smile. I was on my own with a large case and as I have a shoulder injury and cant use lifts due to being claustrophobic, I asked for a room on the ground or first floor. He barely acknowledged this and then said the only room was on the second floor at the end of a very long corridor. It was also a disabled room. I didn't really leave the hotel as the area wasn't pleasant and due to the location of my room, just around a corner I could look onto the back of the hotel and all the other rooms and there was no way they were all occupied on the first floor. I have previously stayed at the Ibis at Grand Place in Brussels and the staff were lovely and the room was much nicer. Nothing about this stay was good.

quick checkin, clean room, ac working fine, toilet ok, bedding clean, location convenient for Midi train station and metro access but otherwise not the greatest, restaurant okay No water kettle in room which was quite surprising and disappointing given that it is a 3 star hotel.
