Sleep was disturbed early due to ongoing works outside our window. Once room was swapped to the rear of the hotel it was much improved. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would be welcome.

Lots of small insects crawling around in some buffet food - eg dry apricots. I brought this to the attention of the duty staff member.

The room was lovely, shower very good, would have liked a kettle and tea bags in the room but that is probably an English thing! The breakfast was a bit expensive ( unless yo can eat loads ) it would have been better with a cheap and expensive version. The staff were polite and wecoming

overall ok. parking is too tight however and very limited. Main issue is that there was a musical festival just across the street and this was not announced in advance. As this impacted noise level in the room, I do believe that this should be advised when booking - even on Booking.com you can put comments. Also, an email to this effect - due to road closures - was sent the day before. However all the guest emails where put in the TO field and therefore visible to everybody. This is a totally unacceptable in this day and age of internet security!

Your remark regarding the mailing is perfectlly justified, more precaution should have been taken, my apoligies for this human error. We arrived after a 10-hour journey to find no staff on reception, and it took 15 minutes before anyone was available to check us in. After checking in, all we wanted to do was relax and have something to eat and drink in the hotel, but we were told that we couldn't have any food because there was nobody available to prepare it. The duty manager felt that shouldn't be a problem as there were a number of restaurants in the area. He offered no apology, and instead said that as he was the only person on duty he couldn't be expected to do everything. His attitude all the way through was that nothing was his fault and we should accept it. The hotel was also very noisy throughout the night on our floor (room 104).

Worst Ibis hotel

Rooms are cramped, worn out, with damaged furniture and wornout bedding. This is the worst Ibis Hotel I have ever stayed in and is an embarrassment to the chain. The first room we were given was on the 5th floor. On arrival on the 5th floor there was an over powering stench of toilet cleaner in the corridor. The room had a badly damaged desk, damaged walls, dirty marks on the walls and grey, not white bedding. I returned to reception to complain about the room and smell I was immediately given the room opposite and when I said about the damage and that the quality was very poor the manager and reception staff were not bothered in the slightest. The replacement room was slighlty better. There was still obvious damage to the walls and some of the bedding had holes in it but at least it was white this time. The stench of toilet cleaner came and went over the few days we were there and got to the point that it was burning the back of your throat. The beds are advertised as being the best quality with new mattresses while infact they are basic mattresses with a thin topper on them. They are not comfortable. On our final evening we were informed that the next morning the local marathon was going past and the road would be closed from 0600hrs. This meant that we had to find another car park with no security for our car. The marathon and road closure had not been mentioned at all until this point. On checking out the staff were not bothered about any of the issues raised. On our final morning my collegue left his leather jacket in the dining area of the hotel. Despite several attempts by both of us to ring the hotel over the next 4 days the phone is never answered and so have been unable to enquire if the jacket was handed in. This hotel is worn out, badly damaged with little customer care. I will not return to this hotel and feel that I have been overcharged for the room.
