« Overall experience was tainted by IBIS not wanting to honour the rate agreed and outlined on the booking confirmation. »

The total rate quoted when the booking was made was mis-calculated by IBIS [Veronika Iamzina]. To address this Veronika, in agreement with her Manager, included the breakfast at no charge for the two adults and two children and clearly indicated this on the booking confirmation. When we checked out IBIS attempted to charge for the breakfasts and were insistent that they needed to be paid for. We declined as this was not what was agreed and outlined on the booking confirmation. The day after we checked out IBIS called and again attempted to bet us to pay for the breakfasts.

Parking is offered on website but when we arrived I was told park blocks away and walk back in the rain or park in the street and move every 2 hours. Went out for the day came back at 3pm not feeling well to find room wasnt made up. Call house keeping now answer. Called reception eventually answered was told they hadn't done anyone on our floor yet but they would get someone there right away. Interesting that we said good morning to the cleaning staff 2 rooms away when we left at 10.30am that morning. The girls arrived about 3.30pm and were apologetic. Yet wasnt there fault. Breakfast was fine simple buffet. But the dining room was dirty. There were no clean tables we had to move used plates yourself. The tables were sticky and i know why when staff did start clearing I saw him use a dirty napkin off someone's plate to wipe the table down. Hygiene!!!. Then we ended up with 7 room tags as staff couldn't program an expire date in to tags. We had a booked for a late check out so everytime we got in the lift it would cancel the card and then get to the room cant get in so back to reception. To be told its our fault because the tags must have been placed next to our phones or a magnet. This may work on the other guests that were complaining at the counter but this is the industry I work in. So staff offered us a drink voucher for the hassle. So we go to use it and there is nothing to use it on. Only beer. No coke or juice. So we just checked out and left. In all rude and lying staff poor Hygiene and misleading information.

The room (501 or 502) was small and extremely noisey, worst nights sleep I've had in a while. It sounded like some air con units behind my head all night, and a knocking noise woke me a few times. The bathroom was a 'wet room' and it did smell - I also did not really appreciate water every-where (esp. when shaving) following a shower.

The Ibis served our purpose well and would certainly recommend to others. Checkin was easy, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Parking underneath the hotel was very convenient and the buffet breakfast was exceptional. Being centrally located there are restaurants and shops galore as soon as you walk out the door.

« Good visit to busy, city centre, mid-priced chain hotel »

Overall good but the horrible decor "chain style of red and grey" was thoroughly depressing. The whole hotel exuded a feeling of dinginess even though it had clearly been relatively recently refurbished. Arrival slightly early handled well with room made available immediately. No help with luggage offered and only cursory explanation of the multi-use of the electronic key card. This compounded by inability to get electricity working in room as key card so stiff (always easy when you know how). Room sink plug never fixed (would not hold water); air conditioning did not work in our and several other rooms was eventually fixed; only 4 hangers for 2 people staying several nights on a 3 month trip was insufficient but extra provided; total confusion over use of washing an laundry facilities - on outside said from 8.00 to 21.00 and everywhere inside from 7.00 to 10.00. Worse personal annoyance was the need to pay for the internet connection and then being dependent on where one was in the building and poor signal, which dropped out continually. This was the ONLY hotel we stayed in so far that felt the need to charge and restrict use to three devices. This reflects as a cheapskate approach to customer service rather than caring quality. On the plus side, very clean.

« It was all good until the last morning. »

The location of Ibis Wellington was ideally close to everything. My room was clean. Cleaning staff and front desk staff were helpful and friendly. In contrast to other hotels where Internet service was complimentary, I chose not to pay the expensive fee and found other Wifi services elsewhere.

Air con probably was resolved by complimentary upgrade. Exceeded expectations. The rooms were functional with great shower pressure. KING bed more comfortable than twins. Staff were helpful and friendly. Only blip was difficulty booking parking in advance. Once resolved everything else was great.

Second time we have stayed here and again it was good. For the price, it's a great location and while the rooms are basic, they are clean, and the beds are nice. I have stayed in other cities where the Ibis is not up to standard so it was a relief to have a nice stay.
