Very convenient hotel in the centre of the CBD. Have stayed here many times for that reason. Comfortable and clean. Excellent service from the concierge Chris. The buffet breakfast is good value. We had evening meals twice, maybe the menu could be extended a little.

Check in was fine. Room service dinner was nice - no problem. The room was very loud, doors banging in the corridor, people coming and going, machinery sounds through the walls. Check out was fine. My car took around 50 min to collect from valet parking!

I’ve stayed here quite a few times and I really enjoy it - good price, great location (only a 30 second walk from my work) and nice enough given the price. It’s my go to hotel in the CBD. The only negative experience that I’ve had was on this occasion. I was staying there with two other people and we all planned to arrive at about 5pm all coming from separate locations (none of us from Melbourne). During the afternoon there was something that came up that meant I was going to be a lot later than I’d planned, meaning that my friends were going to be there a lot sooner than me. As I was the one that booked I knew that they wouldn’t be allowed to check in without me so I phoned the hotel to explain what was going on and to give my approval for them to check in. Only to be told that could not happen - it had to be me, with my ID and credit card. I was told that for them to book in, there would be a freeze on the total price of the room on their credit card. I really didn’t understand this as I had already payed for the room!! Eventually they went and complained as by that stage it was 7.30, and whoever they dealt with at reception couldn’t understand why I had been told that on the phone and have them the key. The annoying thing is I arrived literally right after! I know that it may seem like a minor thing to complain about but it was just a huge inconvenience for us, firstly because my friends had to wait around for hours, and secondly because the whole reason we were staying in Melbourne was because two of us were going to a concert that night - and even though ultimately it was the other issue caused me to be late, the plan was when that came up that we would head straight to the concert when I arrived in Melbourne - however given that my third friend was spending the night in the hotel I then had to head there first, making us late for the concert (or she would have had to wait until 11.00 to go to the room). All of this would have been solved if they could have just been given the damn room key. No one I’ve spoken to since has ever had this problem at any other hotel as long as the person phoned to tell them. Other than than that I really enjoyed my stay there as I usually do. I will be back I just hope that this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Good although hotel walls are thin and you can hear your neighbours through the walls. Room clean, beds comfy. Bathrooms tiny, but everything you need. Air conditioning noisy, and room quite hot. FANTASTIC location though and lifts are fast, which is also a positive.

This the second stay I have had at a Mercure hotel in Melbourne in six months, and once again I am generally disappointed, given my attempts to remain loyal to your brand. The main saving grace is once again your staff, who did work hard to make my stay a success. The main problems were external noise from the lane way around 1 to 3 AM, internal noise from surrounding rooms on the ninth level, hard pillows which seem to have reached the end of their life of type, and generally the untidy appearance of the foyer and bar area. I understand the hotel is being refurbished but more could be done. The hotel room (934) was too small for the price.
