Overall about what I expected but not quite enough space - and cleanliness in louden lounge was an issue - also the lift doors - taking multiple attempts to close each time was an issue.

Please kindly clean your linen for the beds mattress etc because the whole stay I feel itchy all over my body

I was a little disappointed with the facilities at the hotel. The entry to the hotel was underwhelming and a little untidy in feel. I didn't feel that I had entered an Accor establishment. The staff were friendly and supportive though. The room was just acceptable but it felt dated. I also wasn't overly impressed with the buffet breakfast, I was surprised that with the large number of overseas guests that the buffet didn't include some other options that typical fried bacon and scrambled eggs. I unfortunately will not be adding the Mercure Welcome to my list of suitable hotels for my stays in Melbourne.

The hotel seems a bit dated, the rooms especially. Level 2 with luggage storage was never manned and the toilets and public areas there felt a bit like a train station (noisy, dirty, mismatch no staff etc). I'd recommend updating the rooms a little, even adding a minibar. The doors weren't soundproofed so I could hear everything that was going on in the hall. But the hotel has a great location so that was a big plus. On check-out day I received a text asking for feedback (which I gave). This included my suggestion to provide shower gel. Not too long after, and despite it being near 11am-midday, I received a phone call from a panicked employee asking if I needed anything to be delivered re the shower gel. I didn't, it was merely feedback. Shortly after I was then disturbed twice my other staff at my door trying to give me bars of soap, despite saying I didn't want anything. This was quite annoying and I didn't like being frequently disturbed.

Hot water in shower was either scalding or cold. Lifts old and slow, door kept opening and shutting repeatedly. Desk staff not up to usual standard, from previous stays.

We stayed at Mecure Welcome, Melbourne prior to flying out to Sydney. It was the perfect venue for neat tidy reasonably priced accommodation, in a great central location in the CBD. All staff on Reception and Parking hubs on Monday 29th July '19 were exceptional and their high standard of professionalism and kind duty of care is a real credit to this small hotel who is 'punching above their weight' in terms of customer service and liaison - everything was great!

I usually get a room with Grand Mercure but had to settle with Mercure welcome. The room was not as nice. Dinner had been moved because of the building works. Ambient was not as nice and therefore I couldn't justify the cost. Breakfast is expensive (as always) I rang to check about parking. I was told that I was to drive to the hotel and my car would be parked and that my room had free parking allocated to it. When I arrived I found that was not the case and parking was in Russell St (as always) it was a big waste of my time to park my car myself to save $25

Unfortunately there are significant difference in the accommodation between the 2 hotels and it's reflected in the room rates. In regards to the parking, I have had a look at your reservation and could see that Room and Parking were to be charged back to the booking agent. Unfortunately i was not sure if the charge back accepted would be for self-parking or also a Valet Parking . Once again, our apologies that your experience on this occasion was not as positive as your previous stays. Mercure Welcome Hotel has a great location, almost beside David Jones, close to major shopping centres such as Bourke St Mall and Emporium, and with a great choice of so many Asian restaurants around the corner in Swanston Street. We were given a complimentary upgrade to a king bed room. It was roomy, clean, with a safe, desk, 2 chairs, a sofa, a very good bedside clock, and a nice bathroom. We received a copy of Melbourne's The Age newspaper each morning. The breakfast was good. Fortunately it came free as a winter Accor promotion; otherwise it would cost $25 per person, which is excessive as it is not in the same league as the expansive $30 buffet breakfasts at 5 star hotels. The service standard was good, especially the young Polish lady at reception and Charlie, the manager who assisted with our booking.
