First time staying in this hotel & will definitely stay again. The staff were very friendly & helpful. The room was very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable had a great sleep. Breakfast was wonderful

Disruptive noises coming from outside the hotel due to drilling etc. even though it wasn’t the hotel making the noise, the hotel knew this was going on and should of advised guests as this was from 8:30 in the morning until 5pm NON STOP.

« The room was small but a good location »

1. We felt the room was a little small and it is looking tired. (Except the ensuite). 2. The lack of a water container in the refrigerator was surprising. 3. The bottle of champagne provided for our 50th wedding anniversary was greatly appreciated. 4. Gymnasium fee. Two points here (a) I greatly appreciated that I was not charged for using the facility, having been advised there was a $10 fee. (b) As a suggestion, as the Swanston & Welcome hotels have a common ownership, guests of both hotels should have free use of the gym. 5. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

« Another easy, pleasant stay at my favourite Melbourne hotel »

I've been staying at the Mercure Welcome/Grand hotels for the last 15 years and the service on this occasion was nothing short of spectacular. Check-in was a breeze and the lady at reception was wonderful. I was able to get a later check-out if I needed it, which was a godsend as I was on a last-minute trip for a funeral and wasn't sure of the following day's timeline when I checked in. In the end, I didn't need the later check-out (so was out on time) but I felt so much better knowing the option was there to start with. As for the room - nice big and comfy bed and one of the best showers I've ever encountered in the hotel. Ticked both of my major boxes. All in all, another great stay.

I booked last minute due to an emergency and the staff could not have been more helpful. Offered me extra toiletries and a toothbrush, gave me directions to get some additional clothing and such and showed genuine concern for my predicament.

The stay was great, although we had the ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door and we came back to the room and the sign was removed and the room had been cleaned. This is fine but we had left valuables in the room exposed that we didn’t feel comfortable with the cleaners entering.
