Stayed at the hotel multiple times. Hotel is well located which would be its selling point. Rooms are sizeable but aged. Valet parking is extraordinarily expensive. Breakfast was probably as good as I have had there.

Of course there is daytime noise due to the reconstruction, my wife wasn't very happy about that but it was fully disclosed in the booking process and I suppose that is one reason why the rates were relatively low. The main thing that surprised me was the lack of any drawers in the room, this was the first time iI have EVER been in a hotel room without a single drawer apart from the one very small drawer in the bedside table.

Second year and such a great place to stay... has become an annual getaway from the heat of FNQ ...wonderful to hear you are working towards becoming the Pullman but worried we won’t be able to afford if there are higher costs per night coming from Cairns because we’ve really come to enjoy Swanston Street! « Great Refurbished Room that Requires Some Adjustments »

Love staying at the Grand Mecure. We were upgraded to a new refurbished room (1112). Looked fabulous and the view was great. We don't generally like being placed near the lifts but that wasn't the thing that caused us disturbed sleep. Both Row and I had disrupted sleep due to the strength of the LED lighting that has been used in the upgrade. There are a number of switches beside each bedside table that each have their own LED (blue) light. If you happen to plug in your power charger, another LED light comes on. We ended up (2am) placing towlettes over the switches to minimise the light. Another thing we have noticed since our last stay is the massive drop in water pressure in the shower. We both left the mixer on the hottest position as the water was only warm and moving it any further to the left turned the water cold. The hotel staff again were fabulous. We will be returning and hope the feedback may give some food for thought given that the hotel is continuing to upgrade their rooms.

We had requested an early check in which we received and appreciated a lot. Check in was fast & hassle free. All staff from reception to house warming were always warm and helpful. Room was clean and of a good size for the two of us. We love the location of this hotel as it is close to everything. Our only gripe would be that the beds were very uncomfortable, pillows were not very supportive. We are looking forward to returning when the refurbishments have been completed.

Good experience. Was very busy which is expected however a bit of a wait checking in. Hotel was undergoing renovations. But as a result elevators took a long time to get to the rooms. Otherwise very nice hotel. A bit run down rooms however.

The room was fantastic, the only thing I had a problem with was the pillows. They were far too soft and gave no support, hence having a very sore neck the following morning and not sleeping very well. The bed was also a little too hard.
