Modern hotel with super helpful staff. A very big, deeply heartfelt ‘Thank you’ to the two staff (door men) on duty around 4:00pm on the day I left. My son and I were taking a long trip and brought 3 big suitcases. The taxi van we previously booked didn’t show. The two staff helped me find a taxi van from the street after extra efforts. That upset the other taxi drivers waiting outside the hotel, even though their cars were too small for our luggage. I was concerned I might cause unnecessary trouble for the two staff, but they kept assuming me not to worry; and they kept smiling all the time. One good thing will lead to another one. On the way to the airport, we saw another taxi broken down. Two passengers also heading to the OHare airport were standing along the road, very upset. Having seats in our van, we were able to take them in; and they finally made their flights. If possible, I want to let the two staff know what happened afterwards. I want to let them know their extra efforts had a bigger impact. That might be my best way to thank them.

I arrived early and was very happy that a room was available. Unfortunately there was a bag of trash in the bathroom and the bed looked like someone just sat on it. There was also an open package in the mini bar. It must have been left there by the previous person. While I relaxed before heading to my client the door knocked twice by staff who thought the room the room was vacant. Maybe that miscommunication explained the condition.

hotel is low key and relaxed without sacrificing elegance and "French"-ness. as usual the staff makes the stay and the check in staff was great. My only constructive criticism is that the air in my room felt a bit stale. I wish there was something the hotel could do about that. Carpets in the room seemed fine but the ones in the halls might need replacing or freshening up.

I am not sure if anyone reads these comments but thought I would share my experience. When we arrived after 3pm the lower floor room that we requested wasn't ready. We were instructed to wait an additional 1.5hours for a room on a lower floor and we didn't mind waiting to accommodate this request. However, when we returned almost 2 hours later we were told we were going to have to wait an additional hour for the room. For some reason this request had not been entered in the system or communicated via first front desk employee. After 30 minutes and finally speaking to the manager, we were given a room. The room was lovely but the bed did not have top sheets under the comforters. Housekeeping was very quick to bring two top sheets however one was badly stained with what appeared to be like 'black ink'. Check out was equally challenging. There were two staff members at the front desk and only one open for check out clients even though a cue had formed. The doormen and bellmen were exceptional but overall the rest of the house lacked enthusiasm . It felt like we were a business transaction and not welcome guests. Hotels are a competitive marketplace. I chose 4 or 5 star hotels because they provide exceptional service through peak service volumes. No exceptions. No excuses. This was the first time that my patience was met with excuses. (poor staffing, high volume of customers still waiting).

« unclean shower with hair chump in drain »

The shower was unclean and dirty, found clump of hair in shower drain and on walls. The shower walls were not cleaned and slimy. I called front desk asked for bathroom to be cleaned again and found more hair from previous guest. Carpet was not vacuum properly. I would not call this place luxury hotel. The response was unsatisfactory, I stayed at cleaner hostels and Air B N B places. I would not stay at this hotel again.

When I arrived I only had one sheet on the bed. Since it was late I reported it to the housekeeper the following morning and all was taken care of. I had no other issues.
