« Enjoy my stay and would return. »

Our stay was most enjoyable, however, the bar décor was very tired in need of a refurbish. It was disappointing to see the hallway carpet was dusty and dirty with muddy foot prints, both areas looked like they don't get much attention and in need of a good (regular) clean and vacuum. We very much enjoy the breakfast room with eggs cooked to order and a good choice, wonderful service from the staff.

This was our third stay at Royal Lyon. The hotel is lovely and even better since the recent updating. (Love the new wall paper in the hallways) Rooms are always impeccably clean and well laid out (ours was small but quite comfortable and nicely outfitted) Services are great and staff are pleasant and helpful. Location couldn't be better--close to stores, most attractions, and lots of wonderful restaurants. We will always make this our go-to place on visits to Lyon. Next time I will book direct with the hotel to get Accor points.

Everything was what I would expect from a 5 star hotel, though at times service in the bar was slow. The shower is problematic, difficult to figure out how to work it and to find a comfortable temperature. You need printed instructions, there are too many knobs. I had relocated from the Sofitel Bellcour because it was stinking of sewage, I saw a mouse in the Restaurant and the furniture is old and scuffed. It is for this reason that I hesitate to recommend Accor hotels to colleagues. This hotel is one of the worst I have stayed in and let's down the brand name. The Royal is much better.

My wife and I planned on staying in Lyon for a few days and booked a junior suite, which turned out to be beautiful, with windows and a view of the park. Check-in was easy and we felt welcome. After a couple of days, though, my wife had a stroke while in our room. Staff immediately called paramedics and Patrick, the manager, came up to our room to coordinate getting her to a hospital. After that, he was able to move me into a handicapped accessible room, saying it was mine as long as I needed it. While my wife was still in the hospital, staff was very accommodating, especially Jada, Lauren and Marion, who asked about her condition at every opportunity. Jada bought her flowers and Marion bought us some chocolates. This was the best hotel experience I ever had and I am grateful to the staff here for their concern and caring.

Good afternoon! Much to my regret, I had an unpleasant incident. At release of number I forgot in the refrigerator good expensive cheese, worth 40 euros, packed into vacuum. Packing showed that it is cheese was bought as a gift as a souvenir. I didn't leave at once, and left baggage and went for a walk. The personnel knew that I will return! I remembered that forgot cheese and when returned, asked about this cheese the personnel. Cheese disappeared, to me it didn't return, so it stole. For hotel of such level it is inadmissible. « great location, great suite, mostly great service »

Context: 2 night weekend stay in Junior Suite, weekend. Great price for "memorable suite" - and great space, amenities etc. Wonderful service at check in, very helpful concierge and reception staff throughout.Bar service and room service were also responsive and professional.Breakfast (Sunday only, as we departed early on Monday) was the only disappointment. we had to remind, and wait ages, for our coffee. First world problem I know, but this is meant to be a 5 star hotel, and having to chase staff around to get coffee is not great. And, having ordered an omelette, and deliberately not eaten other things in the meantime, to avoid wasting food in case the omelette was enough, it was very disappointing to have to chase for that as well. The chef had forgotten to make it, despite having written down the order (and there were no other orders in the queue)> He was very charming with his apology, but it was still frustrating, and we lost sight-seeing time while waiting more than 20 minutes.There were lots of staff in the breakfast room at the time, and not many customers, so the breakfast service was a big let down unfortunately. the only things that staff need to bring are the hot food and the coffee, and they failed on both. we got our own top ups of juice, as none of the many staff came our way for that either.however, the reception staff, concierges, and housekeeping made up for it. Plus the great space and extremely comfortable bed and good shower.

The hotel has a beautiful décor and very relaxing atmosphere. The highlight for me has to be the breakfast bar! The choice and display was amazing. The poached eggs are the best I've tasted. At every point of my stay the staff were incredibly polite and professional. My room was perfect for my needs and well maintained during my stay. An excellent location too.

« Very nice hotel with space for improvement on some details »

As we were visiting Lyon on a cold January weekend, we wanted to make sure we had a really nice hotel for retreat in the evening. Hôtel Le Royal was a very good choice for that. It is a boutique-style hotel with a small entrance and a small reception, personal service and nicely decorated rooms. I particularly liked the bar with its impressive and stylish red interior. The room was not big but well decorated and the bed was really great. Minus points for the bathroom, where there sliding door was slipping out of its rail several times, and there was lime scale in the corners, and the filling between the tiles partly missing. For a five star hotel, clearly not good enough. See also my review on Booking.com including photos.
