The Smell of Cologne / Perfume from the Lobby was Overpowering

The room was comfortable and the checkin/checkout staff were attentive. However, at one point I considered leaving the hotel early because the smell of cologne/perfume from the lobby was so strong it had permeated my senses even when I was in my room. Then 30 minutes before checking out (as I was instructed when I checked in) I called the Front Desk to have my car retrieved from the parking lot. When I check out I found that my car was not ready and that the valet didnt leave until about 5 minutes after I had completed my checked out. I waited another 15 minutes for him to retrieve it.

The reception and concierge services were great. The bar was good but extremely expensive - and the breakfast as well. The room was very small for 2 adults, the air conditioner had a hard time cooling down the room. The bed was very comfy and the towels and robe were nice as well.

We recently stayed at this boutique downtown hotel twice in the last month, and we would definetly stay here again. The staff were really friendly and professional. The location was ideal for seeing the city by foot. The hotel has an association with a higher end restaurant next door for room service, which also worked out well.

We checked in at 12midnight after a long flight and asked Gerald if I could see the room before to check for smoke or musty mildew smells since I was allergic. I came back to front desk to tell Gerald there was a musty moldy smell in the room and requested another room. Plus it was very far from the elevator and by a fire escape stairwell and a bunch of storage closets where the maids keep all the towels, sheets. So there was always a big maid’s cart out side the room. Gerald informed me there was no other room in my category so we had to stay in the smelly room. The next morning I spoke to another man at front reception and ask to move. He had heard about the experience with Gerard since I wrote a note at 1am unable to sleep to the manager the night before. This gentlemen (a Caucasian man and do not recall his name) told me they could move us but we could not see the room ahead of time since he had no idea what room it would be. Advised me to leave our packed bags in the smelly room and they would later on in the day move us to another room. My husband and I were eager to go sightseeing in Lyon and so frustrated we decided to stay in room 121 and we bought an aroma candle and kept the windows open to try to sleep with the odor. We figured stay with what we had since the next room which we were not allowed to see prior could be worse than this one. . We spent almost 15 hours outside the room sightseeing and dining out so it wouldn’t ruin our trip. I’ve been in customer relations most of my career and I know the difference when someone is truly trying to help and accommodate my requests and when they are not. I know when I’m be mistreated! Your front line people are you most important people! Both these gentlemen belong in the back room with a computer. Claire at the front desk was lovely and very approachable and welcoming. We had many helpful email exchanges before we arrived. I will not recommend your hotel!

Your rooms, the staff and hotel in general was welcoming and comfortable. We did not use your breakfast service as the cost was excessive for the small breakfasts we desired. Our questions were answered at the front desk in a friendly and helpful manner.

From the moment I walked in until check out, service was amazing. Very quiet hotel. Spacious rooms and clean modern bathroom. Loved the view over the city Square. I didn’t care for the red dark walls but that’s just a personal style preference. I did not have a chance to eat breakfast or visit the bar. The concierge was amazing and so friendly.
