« Rundown hotel »

Staying in this hotel was kind of a "back to the eighties" experience. Everything looked old and tired : the rugs, the elevator, the bathroom (special mention to the pull-up toilet flush handle, a system which I thought had been phased out some 20 years ago). Unpleasant smell everywhere, the smell of old hotels in need of a good refreshing. I will not stay another time in this hotel, which in my opinion does not deserve to be associated to the Mercure brand. Very disappointing.

« Disappointing and desperately in need of refurbishment... »

Building out of the 80s. Shabby and run down. Carpets, paint, facilities, everything in need of refurbishment. Everything is or looks tired, even the staff. Asking €140 for a standard double incl. breakfast a night in such a place is more than steep. Thank you. Not again.

« A warm welcome is guaranteed! »

We found all the staff kind and considerate in their care for us. We had an elderly relation with us and they found us interconnecting rooms so that we could assist in her support. They organised a birthday celebration for one of our party, which she enjoyed greatly.

Very nice stay in the hotel. The staff was helpful and welcoming, the room clean, comfortable and spacious, the breakfast really tasty with a lot of options to pick from. The spa center was enjoyable, a little small though but nothing negative.

« Lovely Hotel Excellent Beds Very Strong Mildew smell in Bathroom »

Hotel is in a wonderful quiet location, the lobby, restaurant and common areas are very nice. The scent in the hotel is wonderful until.....the bathroom. If it hadn't smelled so bad, our stay would have been perfect.

« An excellent and comfortable base to tour the region »

Although the hotel in places is a bit dated, it is nevertheless a very comfortable place to stay, with large rooms that are clean and well appointed and with good large beds. The breakfast choice was excellent and the one evening meal we had in the restaurant was good quality and very reasonably priced. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. Overall a good place to stay and good value for money.

« Good but poorly managed »

Quiet hotel, pleasant green serroundings, nice though in need of better window frames. Convenient location, good restaurant at reasonable prices. Very kind personnell at reception and restaurant. BUT why not turning the heat on when outside the temperature is 5 degrees at night, and why renting a hall to a group to have a private dicoteque till 2.00 am, right under the hotel rooms. My room was vibtrating till they stopped.

« Excellent base for touring the region »

In common with others, I would agree that the hotel is a bit dated and could do with some refurbishment. However the rom was large, comfortable and and clean. Bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast choices were excellent and the one evening meal we had in the restaurant was first class and good value. Reception staff were very welcoming and overall we found the staff helpful and friendly.

« Old and expensive »

Hi I am accor hostel member, and unfortunetaly I used to travel a lot and sleep in Accor Hostels. I think this was the worst Mercure where I slept because I can compare with Mercure in Poland Moscow Budapest Lyon Paris etc ...and recently Barcelona. For 160e a night in Aix les Bains It can clearly be better. This room need clearly a renovation. Just when we enter in the room, the smell was so awful (full of product for insects) and we could not breathe , I had no view at all when I went to Ibis close last year, I had a better room for less price. The shoes for the spa in plastic are not comfortable at all. I wanted to do a surprise to my girlfriend and she did even appreciate it. But it was my fault I should have selected this hotel based on the good experience I had in former Mercure hotels. Only good point : The smiles of the people working there.

« Nice hotel in great setting »

The reception was not particularly welcoming, but the room was clean and quiet, the bed and pillows satisfactory, the breakfast basic but adequate. In our visit we did not make use of the aquatic facilities, but they seemed popular with other guests. The grounds offer pleasant walking trails.

« A bit dated... »

I was expecting a lot more from the hotel The room was very large but dated, with stains on the carpet and a broken toilet seat I find the system of renting a bathrobe quite odd and inconvenient, particularly on checkout where reception asked us to go and take it back to the spa and then come back to them with some coupons... this seems like a pointless hassle. The spa area could do with a bit of a facelift and it would have been nice to be told about the free bus service by the hotel rather than the bus driver on the last day.

« ok, but not great »

the hotel comes across as rather used, with traces of dust and dirt on the wall. needs renovation. what was disappointing: we had chosen the hotel because of the pool for a long trip with our two children, I had mentioned the age (11 + 13 y) while booking over the phone. I had also mentioned a late arrival - but nobody had told us that we could not use any of the pools with our kids after 20h. quite frustrating!
