Overall good. Bed is slippery (very inconvenient if you want to just lay down and watch TV). Also, TV is so old and small. Please add children's stations to your list of channels. The current list is too Swiss.

Having enjoyed staying at a number of Accor Hotels in the past, I am disappointed to have to give such a negative review of my stay at Ibis Zurich City West. Unfortunately, there were several issues which I'd like to highlight and would very much appreciate a response back on: 1. On arrival we were advised that the restaurant was open daily until 6-10pm and there was also a 24 hours food service. The menu advised that the food on offer for the 24 hour service was 'Spaghetti Bolognese, Pasta Napolitana, Pasta of the day, Margherita pizza or meat pizza'. On the evening of Friday 29th Dec, we arrived back to the hotel after 10pm and tried to order pasta from the 24 hour menu. We were told that we could only order pizza and this was the only option. 2. The main purpose of our trip was that we were competing in the 'Zurich Neujahrsmarathon' which takes place at midnight on the 1st Jan. In preparation for this race, we decided to eat the hotel on the 31st Dec at 6pm when the restaurant opened. We turned up at the restaurant to find it closed and no alternative food available. There was no notice to say the restaurant would not be open this evening and the information sheet sais 'Food available 24hrs and restaurant open daily 6-10pm'. We then had a mad rush to find a nearby restaurant which was open and that we could eat in term before we were racing. We asked the receptionist at the hotel for nearby suggestions for somewhere we could get a bowl of pasta and he said nowhere was open. We panicked because we needed to eat and in fact found a local Italian not far up the road. 3. Following the midnight marathon, we arrived back at the hotel at approximately 4:30am. I had read on the information menu that '4-6:30am hot drinks, fruit juices, bread and bakery' was available. As we were not going to make the breakfast, I decided to get a hot cup of tea for myself and my partner Scott. Scott was shivering and freezing cold as it had started raining on the marathon race and he was completely exhausted. He went up to the hotel room whilst I went to get 2 cups of hot tea. The receptionist on the night shift came running over, blocking off the tea's and hot water machine. He aggressively shouted that I couldn't help myself to a drink and that I needed to ask him. I explained that I had read on the menu that hot drinks were available as part of the limited breakfast between 4-6:30am and that we had just run the marathon and were freezing cold. By this point, I had already opened the teabags I had managed to pick up and pleaded with the man to let me have a hot drink. He reluctantly let me have some hot water but then put a yellow 'wet floor' sign between the breakfast bar and hot drinks stand to block off the area. I also wanted to take some bread upstairs which was already out on the side but it was clear I wasn't to go anywhere near the food or drinks again. I am disguised that not only did it say we were entitled to get a hot drink, but that it was new year's day and we had just run a marathon and there was no good will from the man on reception! Poor poor customer service. 4. Finally, we had booked a late check out, prior to our stay because we knew we would arrive back from the marathon race late and would need a lie in and therefore late check out. Everything was pre-paid upfront so I checked on arrival that reception knew we had a late check out booked. The receptionist confirmed this was the case. In preparation, I also put the 'do not disturb' sign on our door when we arrived back at 4:30am on the 1st so that we could sleep in in peace. Despite this sign being on the door, we had a knock for 'room service' at approx. 11am and when we didn't answer, the door was opened and the cleaners came in. We shouted that we had a late check out and wanted a lie in. At approx. 11:55am, we had another knock at the door and the maid came barging in again. She shouted "you need to get out NOW", we replied "we have a late check out" and she shouted "you need to go down to reception immediately". By this point, we hadn't managed to have a lie in and we were now fully awake and annoyed at the situation and attitude of the maid. I managed to find our booking email which our confirmed the late check out and went out into the landing in my pj's to show this to the lady. She didn't apologise, merely grumbled and said ok. I was horrified. We were now awake, tired and still sore from the marathon just hours before. We had completely missed breakfast and had been forced out of our room. We ended up checking out about 1pm and therefore had not used our late checkout and had the lie in we had paid for. We complained about this on check out and when we asked to speak to the manager, the receptionist told us we could get a refund for the late check out fee. I am grateful for this gesture of good will but also don't feel like this makes up for the appalling customer service and way we were treated throughout our stay. I would be grateful if you could investigate the issues I have highlighted and come back to me on this? Please feel free to contact me if you need any further detail or clarity on any of the above. Finally, I hope we can resolve this as I have very much enjoyed my experiences at accor hotels until this stay and would like to continue staying with you in the future. Many thanks, Daisy

After talking to him i guess there has been a misunderstanding between the two of you and i'd like to apologize for that. Your rooms are small and tiny compared to the other hotels we stayed in, the lady at the reception who checked us in was unfriendly. The lady would not understand the problem and talk to me in a rude tone, I dont know how u employ such unprofessional and impolite reception staff. who do not respect their customers. their was no tea-coffee or water kettle in room, no fridge / mini bar - no proper closet just an open shelves.

« Very nice overall expirience. Except no kettle in the room, and rude night receptionist »

Was missing kettle in the room. New Year Night Receptionist (Black man) was extremely rude, he start argue with me, when I ask him for a cup of hot water, He said, I need to go to Novotel and either stay there or go and ask them for water. Absolutely shocking. I did go to Novotel, there where shocked, that guest has been sent to the other hotel . They explained nicely, that they can't help, as machine is off, and all guests, have kettle in the room. I had to came back to Ibis and black man was smiling, when he seen we didn't get what we been looking for. Absolutely unacceptable approach! I would like Management to investigate this matter and approach me with a compensation of refund of 1 night, due that rude experience during festive time, NEW YEAR, approx. 1am on 1st Jan 2018. That little things as poor service, make a such big negative impact on the overall experience Looking forward to hearing back G B.

« Best value for money choice! »

The hotel is located 2 minute walk from technopark tram stop. It takes about 15 min to reach city centre using tram no. 4 and you can get free transport by buying zurich card or a day pass. The breakfast was amazing. It has very limited choice on hot food choices (boiled eggs and waffles) due to its two star accreditation, however the variation on cold food (croissants, cereals, yoghurts etc) fullfills the lack of hot breakfast! Very clean and cosy hotel and room. Definitely recommended to everyone for a pleasant stay! I will definitely book again there for my next trip to zurich!

Besides Mr. Joosh at front office more or less totally unprofessional staff including asst. manager Ms. Tobias. If someone answers me , well this is IBIS and if you want to have better servie you should go next door to Novotel, she should be fired. I like staying at IBIS and having a manager giving me such an answer is just unacceptable . I was a General Manager of 5 star hotel like Kempinski, Swissotel etc. and I know what I am talking about !

« The hotel is noisy and the food is not good, too salty and meet of bad quality. Not enough staff. »

The hotel is very noisy and even smelly (second floor) when doors are slamming close and that is really annoying at night. I understand that you cannot do much for neighbours who are noisy, besides insolation. That would help for bathroom noises too. Almost everyday I had to have my card redone to enter my room. There is not enough staff to take care of the bar and the restaurant in the evening. The food is bad and of bad quality.

I don't normally write hotel reviews. But I was impressed with the practical solutions Ibis came up - like the free-smartphone (to avoid unnecessary roaming charges for typical things like navigation and calls - it came very useful!), and the automatic invoice email (though the 1st time you still might need to provide company details). The room and bathroom was clean and very comfortable (big bed, and enough space in the bathroom and shower-cabin). I can't review quality-to-price since I was on a company expense and it was my first time in Zurich. The only 2 things I can think of to be improved are: - to have some instant coffee/tea option in the room like with an electric boiling kettle and couple of instant coffees/tea. - the isolation rubber rib on the inside of the shower-cabin was gone and considerable amount of water actually came out on the bathroom floor. Very satisfied all in all! Cheers!

The stay was good with the average of what should be expected from a hotel. However few things to note: Cons: 1) Breakfast is the same. No hot food. Just bread and waffles with some refrigerated cold meat. Imagine eating the same food over and over again for 7 days. It begins as okay and ended as torture. 2) There's no drinking water in the room. It ought to have at least 2 cups and 2 bottles of water in the room. 3) Despite housekeeping, I'm not sure if they change my mattress cover during the 7 nights stay with them, however, I seriously doubt it. Pros: 1) Good view from the high floor facing the court. 2) Friendly staff. Always helpful.
