« Mercure hotel with much lower level than Mercure brand in Europe »

Unfortunately this hotel standard has absolutely no relations with the European Mercure hotels and the accor hotels brand. first the service level is much much lower than at most accor hotels where we ever stayed (we have an accor loyalty card). For example we had to send several emails to the hotel before we could get a reply about a simple request to have a shutle pick up from the airport. I had literally to beg them to reply before they did. Also, our request for a breakfast box to take with us on an early 6 a.m. departure safari trip was registered by the receptionists who asked us to also request it with the restaurant staff, which we did but the following morning there was no breakfast box prepared for us despite informing both reception and restaurant. We also requested the reception for a 5 a.m. wake up call but no one called us and as a consequence we started our safari trip later than planned. When we returned and mentioned it to the afternoon shift receptionist (Xitolte?), instead of getting an apology we got an agressive response. This particular receptionist sounded more like one of the many Johannesburg thugs who mug people than a hotel receptionist. On the other end of the spectrum, lady receptionist Sindi was very friendly and tried to be helpful. Our room was quite large but in urgent need of renovation. Except for the bathroom taps which had been updated the rest of the room needed a fresh coat of paint and new furniture. However the worst part was the dirty smelly carpet. Walking bear foot or even with socks on the carpet is out of the question. We even had to clean up our slippers before packing them in our suitcase before departure. the room simply did not look or feel clean which made us feel very uncomfortable. One positive aspect however was that we were allowed to have a free late check out because of our late flight, which we appreciated. One additional positive aspect of this hotel was the proximity of a large shopping centre just across the road where there was a choice of restaurants.

old furniture specially in the toilette but this is not an issue, as long as they were cleanvery poor service, specially at breakfast where staff did not helpvery quite environment and comfortable sleep

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is safe. Very clean everywhere, cleaned everyday. Any little problem I had was sorted out with immediate effect. That place is one in a million. I definitely recommend Mercure Hotel in Bedfordview Johannesburg. I had an amazing time with my partner.

I travel every year to South Africa and though I know there are a wide variety of hotels all around the city, I never go anywhere else than the Mercure Bedfordview hotel. The people, the staff, the courtesy received there are always to the top. I have never felt or received anything negative about the hotel. I will never change it to go elsewhere. I can consider myself a privileged person when I am there because am well looked after and they always attend to my various needs.

I have stayed in many hotels and all my international stays are at the Hilton, so i cant be overly critical of a 3 star hotel. You delivered as expected, service was good, most of the staff go out their way to be friendly and was appreciated. The place is a bit dated but it is a 3 star hotel.

The room is very much outdated; the bed linen were torn, washing towels in shamble; everything worn beyond acceptable limit for the great brand line Mecure; the standard is lowered, service very poor. I order the dinner, I am not sure who on earth would have eaten it or if there are great that eat in the restaurant. I was booked in the last block on the bottom floor and was told to come back in an hour to fetch my dinner as they will be closing and cannot afford to walk that far distance - shameful; no consideration of the customer at all.

I am not satisfied with the service at this hotel. I booked a 2 night stay (check-in :21/9 and checkout: 23/9) on the Mercure website. The confirmation number is GRFDMNXD. The rate per night was ZAR 1093.45 of which I was required to prepay one night. The balance required to be paid at the hotel was: ZAR1093.45. I was charged over ZAR3k on check-in at the hotel and for some unknown reason the hotel is reluctant to refund me the excess amount paid. I can provide support. I had done my booking on Mercure/Accor website so rates and conditions are binding. On your own hotels Can the difference be refunded asap. I have requested it Sunday and had calls yesterday to no avail Name: Lillian V.

in my opinion the standards are going down. during my past experiances the services was good. my bed was not done properly on one of the days as there was sand in bed from the day before, so clearly the bed was not done and the bgedding was not changed. trying to find cutlery and pots to use is such a mission. for my entire stay i failed to get a knife. cleaning is generally not up to standaerd as there was dust on some of the furniture. food from the bar is not really good. had it once and i never ordered again.
