« Unbelievable that this is a hotel in China »

This stay at the Sofitel in Jinan, Shandong was honestly the best stay I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve been all over the world and stayed I hotels in many different countries and cities. For the most part, China has very low quality hotels. However, this recent stay I had at the Sofitel has truly left me speechless. I look forward to staying here again.

Our experience at the Sofitel Jinan is always positive, and we are made to feel welcome from the moment we check in. Prior to arrival, I arranged with the hotel for my partner and I to check in separately, which was not a problem. The room was comfortable and clean as always, however the window was left open (on a 35.C degree day). The hotel was kind enough to provide a light blanket, as I often get uncomfortably hot under the standard quilt that is used, even with the AC running. As a loyalty member, we were given a drink voucher, however there were two registered guests in the room, so it was a little disappointing to be told at the bar that only one of us was "welcome" to have a drink. A loyalty-status late checkout was granted (we only needed the extra half hour, but they gave us the room for two extra hours). I always enjoy staying here, and I look forward to returning!

« Great location, friendly and helpful staff, however a few critical things still missing »

The stay was overall good. Staff was very freindly and attentive. There was a genuine attempt to reflect the Sofitel brand and experience. This is still one of the best places to stay in Jinan. Major issue that would make me consider in stayin in another hotel: Internet was terrible! For a business traveller , this is a key issue and I was unable to do any work at all in the period I stayed at teh hotel. The issue was the internet speed, which was below any useable standard both via wired or wifi connection. Even in the middle of the night! Unless this is fixed, I cannot recommend this hotel to a business traveller. Also, non-smoking rooms must really be non-smoking. They all smelled of cigarettes. I was also checked into a room that hasnt been cleaned yet (I discovered only after entered a room). An innocent mistake by the trainee girl at the reception, which is no big deal.

The overall experience was outstanding. The only sad thing that happened was that I believe two gifts I purchased were inadvertently thrown out by the housekeeping staff. The reason I say this is that the gigw were in a black plastic bag I had placed on the ledge by where the extra water was. I placed them there as I wanted to be sure to set them up and away from the table so they did not get thrown out by mistake. All of the other gifts we purchased were in nice bags and boxes so there was no confusion. When I went to pack, the black plastic bag was nowhere to be found. It contained a jade necklace and a cloisonne vase wrapped in bubble wrap. I truly believe this was an honest error but disappointing nonetheless.

I always look forward to returning to the Sofitel Jinan Silver Plaza. I am always made to feel welcome as soon as I walk through the foyer doors, as all the staff are warm and genuine. I received my gold-level loyalty benefits, such as a complimentary room upgrade, drink vouchers and late check out. The only negative from my stay was that the temperature in the room was quite hot during the night, making sleep uncomfortable. The temperature is centrally controlled, so adjusting the thermostat in the room actually does nothing. I usually request a blanket be placed in the wardrobe, so that I can remove the quilt, and use the blanket, if the room is too hot, but I forgot to do it this time around. I will ensure I request this for my next stay. I look forward to returning to the Sofitel Jinan Silver Plaza, and would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Jinan Sofitel silver plaza put all efforts around to prove it's highest world-level hotel class. More of then, quality-per-costs coefficient here is maximised. English level is very good, therefore I would recommend this hotel for all foreigners

Most of the facilities were great. Just the food if pork is used it should be stated. Sautéed vegetables have bacon. Cheese platters have ham. I have specific dietary requirements and feel limited with my options in the hotel. The tap in the bath was broken. Some staff were limited with their English but were very polite.

I have spent a rather long period in this hotel due to a long working commitment towards one important customer in tha Jinan area. We arrived at Sofitel, but unfortunately there was some miscommunication with agoda - and we were not booked. There was no room available when we arrived and we are supposed to stay for 3 nights, but Sofitel was very much accommodating as they gave us free upgrade to a nearby Hotel for first night - then back to Sofitel for the next two nights. They gave us free upgrade also to Sofitel room. The officers/manager on duty is very much helpful and they really took good care of us. They are very professional with their guest . This hotel is very much recommended. We will definitely stay here again. :)

I always enjoy staying at the Sofitel Jinan Silver Plaza. When I made my booking, I contacted the hotel with a number of requests for the room, all of which were not too much trouble for the staff. In previous stays during Winter, our room had been unbearably hot. Due to the heating being centrally controlled, the air conditioning has little effect in the rooms. I mentioned this in my email to the hotel, and was quite delighted when I entered the room and it was not too hot. I had requested a blanket be put into the wardrobe, just in case the usual quilt was too warm to comfortably sleep. Due to the cool temperature of the room, the blanket was not required, but I appreciate the staff placing it into the room for us! As I was arriving in Jinan quite late, my girlfriend was permitted to check-in prior to my arrival, which was appreciated. We were given a loyalty-status complimentary room upgrade, which is always appreciated! We were also given a loyalty-status complimentary late check out of up to 4pm, which meant we could relax and enjoy the early afternoon before we went to the train station. Breakfast was enjoyable - the staff are warm and friendly and the food delicious. This is one of the few Sofitels I have stayed at where the guests are not taken to a table by staff, nor offered tea or coffee upon seating. Perhaps this is due to the design of the restaurant. Not a complaint, merely an observation. Room service (club sandwich) took about 40 minutes to arrive (ordered at 11:15pm), which was acceptable, as the staff member had advised it would take 30-40 minutes. The sandwich was delicious, and the fries still warm upon arriving at the room. I always have an enjoyable stay at the Sofitel Jinan Silver Plaza, and I look forward to returning in the near future!
