We found out stay at the Novotel Canberra very satisfying. It's and very nice, well-refurbished hotel in the city with all the facilities you'd want from a decent hotel. We travelled with kids and found the pool and gym area very nice and comfortable. The restaurant and bar do get a bit busy so best to plan for this. The food at the restaurant including the buffet breakfast is very good. Overall a comfortable hotel, well located and good for both business and leisure. We found the staff very friendly and ready to offer assistance. Parking was very reasonable as well. We found that the Novotel Canberra provides great value for money.

Was pleased that there were hangers available this time (wasnt previously) and no problems with the room at all. Would really appreciate a wider room service menu or perhaps a facilitated uber eats / menulog delivery arrangement.

On arrival the welcome was luke warm. The gentleman behind the counter was not overly friendly, nor cared to discuss much with us, even when we had a query. Somewhat rude maybe even and then had a chat with his cooworker while we stood there! The barman needs new pants and a haircut. Ripped pockets, oversized pants maybe for the corner pub. No such thing as room service. We were out of our room from 8am-3.30pm with a note on our door "please service" only to come back to what we'd left. Yeah when we went to dinner at 5pm, they'd happen to come past then and left a note to say they couldn't access the room???

We booked a queen room to stay in Canberra for a very special occasion only to find when we went into our room it smelt of stale booze and cigarette smoke. A party in the room the night before was confirmed by our neighbour. The room had just been cleaned as the cleaners were still on the floor so why did they not pick this up and why did staff and management still continue to place someone in the room?. Only 2 pillows on the bed, I know third world problems right but paying through the nose for a so called '4 star hotel', not good enough. I went and expressed my concerns downstairs to a manager who although moved us to another room (a king size) still failed to interact with me nor apologies but left it up to his staff. The next room was brighter but the whole place is dreadfully dated, there are multiple stains on the hallway carpets and breakfast service is slow to clean tables. I travel a lot for work and have stayed in other 4 star accommodation of which the Novotel in Canberra is not, I have also stayed in less expensive accommodation and they have been far superior because at least they were cleaner and the staff friendly. Definitely wont be going back and definitely will not be recommending to anyone.

The room was fine though the thermostat is off as I’m usually comfortable at 23 and was on 25 and still slightly cool. Main reason I won’t choose to stay again by preference over alternatives is the room service menu. There was a brochure saying there is a healthy choices menu but I was told this is outdated. There was no salad on the menu, no particularly healthy options, they would not make any changes, they couldn’t even send up fruit. At other hotels serving business guests even if the menu is rich I’m able to request some grilled meat and steamed veg, or a salad, and some fruit or berries or something. I was told that if I go to the restaurant they may have salads as the menu differs but they could not do salad in the room. When I get in every night at 8-9pm and still have more work to do I don’t have time to go to the restaurant. And if I’m staying in hotels 4nights a week every week I can’t stay places without healthy meals. The gym was decent though the cardio gear is always busy. Also the shower head is a bit jammed up or something. I meant to let reception know. Room 329.

I had a one night stay to attend an all-day business summit on the following day. The hotel cheerfully looked after my luggage for me whilst I was at the summit, and until it was time for me to fly out. My stay itself was very comfortable. I slept like a dream and had a wonderful breakfast (with many options) to set me up for a long day. The hotel itself was also ideally located for my purposes.
