Clean and tidy rooms however they felt very dated - breakfast service not very good. It seemed more focused on quantity rather than quality which was a shame and we struggled to find a seat.

« Not enough staff when booking in, considering the bookings that were checking in at the time, which Novotel would have had previous warning. . waited 30 mintutes as a long cue, not very happy after a 5 hour drive. »

As above. Plus our room looked like it had some sort of a renovation, but the furnishings were extremely well worn. As did the hallways to our room. The. bed had a timber base which protruded from the mattress and considering the lack of space walking from the end of the bed through to the bathroom etc., made it very dangerous, as you had to check every step as to not bump your leg on the base. Overall, very disappointed. Had also spoken to other people staying had the same view. Will not choose this location again.

Staff were friendly. Quality of breakfast buffet was good, although food kept running out as they were extremely short staffed and thus, it was very chaotic. Staff did their best however, as buffet only available until 9.30am, instead of the usual 10.30am, the period from 8.30-9.30am was too busy and not a relaxing experience at all. We went onto stay at another Novotel in Sydney, and the experience at the breakfast buffet was entirely different. Carpets looking very old and worn. Top points for pool area and restaurant/bar facilities and staff.

Not up to standard I expect from Novotel brand Registration procedures not completed prior to arriving despite completing express check in Shabby and stained carpet on 6th floor Barista opening a Nescafe sachet to make a "decaffeinated coffee as had "no decaffeinated beans". Indifferent service in restaurant due to "staff shortages." only one person on check out over peak time ca. 9 AM in the morning

Not a great experience. Fire alarm went of twice, once at 2.00am in the morning. Was woken up at 3.30 by somebody knocking on our door. Was again woken up again at approx 4.00am by people partying next door. Restaurant lost our reservation for Dinner. My platinum welcome pack was not in my room, I had to ask for it.

For what we paid ($300) you would expect a better class of hotel given it is run as a Novotel. Hotel is very tired and seriously needs refurbishment. On a positive note receptionist on arrival and departure were of high standard. Quality of breakfast was great.

« Disappointed with some aspects of our stay »

Honestly, I expected more from the Novotel. Our room was tired and needs a modernise/refresh, no comfortable seating in the room, bed was uncomfortable, pillows were the worst ever. Breakfast in the restaurant was chaotic, poor layout, pancake machine in high traffic area so kids waiting clogged up the flow of traffic. Lifts are also too small. However the valet service was very welcome and check in staff were lovely. Fire alarm at 1.00am in the morning was a big downer. I hope whoever was smoking in their room was appropriately punished.

The room had no robes no slippers roads works 1:30am and constant fire alarms going off in the middle of the night ....food and wet towels are all through the hall walls .....dirty carpets !!!!!

Staff were very nice and friendly. During my stay the fire alarm went off twice in the night waking us up from sleep. Than I had a man knock on our door in room 502 around 3am. I had to call reception to come and assist him. Turned out he was sleep walking.

The hotel is obviously under renovation. That said the room itself was clean, comfortable, well appointed and up to a standard I would expect of Novatel. When checking in I was offered the buffet breakfast @$20 which I assumed reasonable value and saved me leaving the hotel to find other options so I took up the offer. Whilst I understand $20 is not a lot of money in today's terms I would say there were far better breakfasts to be had at that price in and around Canberra. All 'hot' items at the servery were cold. The scrambled eggs soggy as well. The coffee very ordinary. Not enjoyable at all. The staff were pleasant and welcoming but 'tied up' when I was leaving so I didn't complain to them nor was I asked, as one might usually expect, "how was my stay" when I checked out. I would likely stay again but avoid breakfast.

« Not as good as previous stays. »

Our first night we were kept awake by the ongoing road works out the front of the hotel with some sort of 'boring' machine operating to well after 2.00am. I did mention this to Kate on reception the following morning and she very graciously offered us another room which we accepted. That night was wonderful until the fire alarm sounded!! I guess you will know all about that. Kate and Georgia at reception were wonderful and most helpful as was Deeane in the bar/restaurant area. On arriving home I checked my email for my bill and there were one or two questions regarding it. I did email immediately but, to date, I have not received a reply and I am very disappointed by this.

« Never again »

Absolutely terrible . No robes in the room , waited ages to get them delivered the guy who dropped them off looked like he was off the streets no care factor . Told by valet guys it was free parking , got charged$20 on check out. Night road works through Have video footage at 1.30am drilling the roads.. false alarms middle of the night and earlier that night.. barely any hot water in shower called reception she said someone would come check on one came. Asked for extra pillows was given less what I was asked guy did he would come back and bring extra one never showed up. Just an absolute miserable stay.. no care factor by anyone. As a silver member very disappointed

« Great front desk staff, nice room, terrible breakfast! »

The front desk staff were courteous and efficient when I checked in and when I checked out. The luggage minding service at the front desk was also seamless and friendly. The room was well prepared and clean. Breakfast was a huge disappointment. Plates were not available when I wanted the buffet service. There were no plates, at all. Only dirty ones lying to on tables, waiting to be collected. I ended up eating sausages, bacon and mushrooms out of a bowl! The pears I ate were drowned in aniseed. Of all things. They tasted awful! Then while I checked out I was told the cost was $30 each! As I departed the hotel I felt seriously ripped off. I request you refund my $60. I have stayed at the Novotel three times now and been very happy with the buffet in the past. Not this time. I know Novotel can do better!
