Location is great, good sized rooms. Going through a refurb which is needed. Canberra has extensive roadworks at the moment which limits some dining options. Staff were friendly and helpful. Dining menu limited but tasty.

Room, bed, service and food were all great. The roadworks outside were a nightmare (took 45 minutes to drive 100 metres). Would definitely stay again.

Room was good. Hotel seemed to be in the middle of a make over, but no evidence of any work going on. Evening meal was very good. Breakfast was average. Had to ask for eggs, gluten free toast, very limited cereals to chose from and rest of hot items were not very appetizing.

liked the bar area and staff. Shower head could not be set to head height it would only slide to the bottom. Not great sound proofing around door into hallway - could hear every word when people walking past.

Sadly we decided to have tea at the restrauant, we were very dissapointed by the limited choices available and how under staffed it was. No breads on the on entree, not even a garlic bread. Our order, steaks and sliced potatoes with a green salad was cooked to perfection but we would have liked a better selection. We never had many drinks with our meal because the young waitress was run for her feet and after a long wait for the first drink we decided not to bother with any more.l

I was given the wrong room number so had to return to reception & wait in line again to find out why my keys did not work. I was tired after travelling so having to wait in line twice to get a key for my room was not great. I used the room safe which would not re-open. I had to wait for someone to come and open it and they struggled to get it open (I think it may have been battery problem). This delay made me late to meet people downstairs. Hence my initial arrival was not a great experience. Thankfully after that it got better.

Novotel Canberra is one of the better hotels in Canberra - but sadly there is a real lack of quality choices. I like the atmosphere of the bar / dining area, but otherwise the experience is decidedly ordinary.

« Not the best experience we have had at a Novotel . »

Our two night stay was marred by a situation on the first night. Not long before midnight on the Sunday night, we were awoken by excessive loud talking & laughing in the adjoining room. After 45 minutes of non stop noise , my wife knocked on the adjoining room door & politely asked them to be quiet as we could not sleep. This was to no avail. Not long after, I rang reception to ask for assistance. The first comment was to please hold. After 5 minutes if holding, I hung up & redialled. This time, I explained the situation and asked for assistance. The receptionist asked if we would like to change rooms! I explained we had already settled for the night and requested they send security to resolve the issue. It took another 10 to 15 minutes before the noise subdued. As a result, the additional stress lost us at least a couple of hours sleep! I stay in hotels a lot, mostly Accor as I am a gold Accor plus member, and this ranks as one of the worst nights.

The staff were friendly and were able to change us to a twin (which was originally requested). The room was good as was the location. The building itself is obviously in need of renovation, some of which is underway. Myself and many other guests experienced difficulty with the key slot in the elevator. getting rid of this incredibly old technology with a simple tap system needs to be prioritised.

I enjoyed the hotel. The room was clean and comfy - however, the tissue box was empty and never replenished until I found out that there was another box behind it (2 days later) = which I opened. The sugar was not replenished and on the last day I had to 'make do' with just 1 sachet for my tea. The kettle leaked water onto the counter as well. With that said, I still enjoyed my stay and was comfortable.

Very average. Reception staff are indifferent and not particularly welcoming. I didn't really like the room. Bathroom mirror and amenities were in the kitchen. View from the window was terrible and no free wifi from rooms. I have stayed their twice now and both experiences weren't great. Will not be returning.

All arrangements went smoothly. Not the Hotel's fault if the road outside is a major reconstruction site! Convenient location otherwise. Variable quality of food and service in the very pleasant dining room. Staff overall were pleasant and helpful. Room satisfactory and a reasonable price.

« A bit disappointed with the age of the hotel and the quality. »

First given a room (7th floor) for people with disabilities but later upgraded (5th Floor). Appearance of top floor not good, skirting board all removed. Not all rubbish bins in the room were emptied nor the carpet vacuumed whilst there. Last meal in the restaurant was poor food and not worth the cost.
