Arriving was difficult to park and then discovering we had to pay for parking was not ideal. Room was pleasant but the bed was extremely uncomfortable and doona was horrible to sleep under. It didn't breathei myself and my other 3 members of my family hardly got any sleep. It was in a great spot within Canberra city but comfort wize I wouldn't recommend

Staff were professional and friendly. Hotel gym was clean and surprisingly well stocked. Free weights were great to see. Housekeeping was great. All in all, a great hotel experience. My only negative would be that the shower pressure is annoyingly inconsistent.

It was my first visit to the Novatel in Canberra, I normally stop at the Crowne Plaza. I was plesently surprised how spacious the rooms were and professionalism of the staff. I will be staying again when next in Canberra.

it is always a pleasure to stay at the Novotel again did not disappoint, staff responded quickly when needs were expressed. Slow response when requested pillows at night, my daughter had nearly fallen asleep. mostly great service. the morning breakfast was really over busy, customers were clearing own tables and trying to seat themselves. We had to sit separately to get a seat and waited a long time for a coffee. I have also had this experience before at Novotel, including the last time I stayed where the wait was unreasonable for food at the restaurant. I am surprised given Novotel is a four star hotel and given it clearly has happened before in peak times, that some process has not been put in place to ensure people are not waiting. For example giving people a coffee in the lounge area but not letting them in until a table was ready for them and already cleared and re set?

Check in was quick and efficient, including car parking. Room was clean. Bed mattress was soft and sagging. Found the bathroom sink outside the bathroom uncomfortable. There was no parking spots on our return from dinner. Breakfast was plentiful and varied.

I had a great time with friendly and helpful staff with excellent service and facilities. I always try and stay in the Novotel chain as I find that I am always looked after very well and always close to where I need to be.

Myself and my daughter had two dissatisfying stays recently. The first stay Sat 8th July to Sun 9th July, We booked the Novotel as we have stayed a few times before and as a preference for the swimming pool. My daughter planned for a swim with me after our journey from Sydney to Canberra before going out for dinner. Unfortunately the pool was closed that late afternoon and following morning as evidently a guest had been sick in it so this was of great disappointment though I understand not a fault of the hotels.. Our second disappointment was how busy breakfast the following morning was around 7am where although no queue it was hard to find a table to sit at and the general busyness around the self serve food and being pushed around by other guests to get to the food was not very pleasurable. The following weekend when my daughter and I stayed again on Friday 14th July was more disappointing. Firstly the fire alarm falsely went off around 4am (again not a fault of the hotels and rather be safe) however it did particularly disturb my daughter as she could not get back to sleep. Worse was when we then went down for breakfast, as we were on bed and breakfast rate, on the Sat morning and there was a huge queue right back to the lift at 08.30am. We waited for approx. 20mins but the queue was not moving fast and a manager did come round offering mini muffins to whom I expressed concern as I had a bus to catch at 10am with my daughter back to Sydney and it looked as if we would not be getting breakfast in time considering I still had to finish packing and check out. We had payed for breakfast and I do think it is reasonable to think that allowing 1.5hrs was plenty time for a leisurely breakfast and check out - how wrong I was.!!! No solution or understanding by the male manager was given to my concern and I was getting extremely anxious about the situation.. As time was ticking by I decided to go back to our room, pack our final things and check out and then return to the dinning room to try and fit in breakfast hoping the situation should have improved by then. Unfortunately having packed and checked out the situation was not much better at 9.10am. Having again to wait it appeared we were doomed not to be able to have breakfast, that we had paid for, if we were not to miss out 10am bus. Eventually I managed to anxiously speak to another manager(female) who said we could go and get some breakfast and take it to another room. My daughter and I managed to grab some cereal and a drink and ate it in the lobby area by the lifts, as the manager who was to show us the additional room to go to had by then disappeared. We did not have time for a proper breakfast or even to make toast with the queue for toast too, my daughter was going to have some Banana bread as easy to have on the run but there was none left and we did not have time to wait for replenishments. It really was a very stressful and unsatisfactory situation. Someone mentioned that the management had offered everyone breakfast as compensation for the fire alarm so the numbers were large as guests who had not booked breakfast had to be provided for. If that is so what compensation, because of the false fire alarm, for those of us who had already paid for breakfast and in the end for us who did not even get a proper breakfast having paid for it. Loose, loose situation.. Our previous stay on the 8th - 9th July had shown me even without a fire alarm breakfast was a stressful busy event but the situation on the morning of the Sat 15th July was terrible and I think made worse as the staff were struggling to cope and had no time to understand anyone's individual situation and certainly showed no care if my daughter and I had to go without breakfast that we had pre-booked and paid for before a 3.5hr bus journey, especially when we had given ourselves what we thought was plenty time for a leisurely breakfast! All in all two disappointing stays within a week of each other and put a damper on the beginning and end of our annual Mother and Daughter Ski holiday and certainly will make us think twice before staying at the Novotel in future.

The customer service was good and the level of the accommodation was also good, however, the attention to detail was terrible. The conference package included morning, lunch and afternoon tea. In some cases, the afternoon tea was delivered early even though the information pack supplied stated otherwise. The lunch package was acceptable to all, however, l had to enforce that we were to be supplied fruit juice and soft drinks with the lunch and not just water. The coffee machine at the breaks continually ran out milk and on two occasions, we had to ask for coffee cups. On two of the mornings, my team complained about both coffee machines not working, either no coffee or no milk. I am not accustomed to complaining, however, the attention to detail was disappointing and was noted on our PLUS/DELTA review. On the good side, the conference room was good and we had no issues with air-conditioning, something that is always a concern.

Very friendly staff- from booking over the phone, checking in, bar & restaurant staff. Impressed because we got upgraded from a twin double room to a twin queen room. Room was spacious, clean & bathroom was a decent size. One small problem was that the shower door kept swinging open so that water sprayed out over the floor, solved by wedging a face flannel against it. Excellent breakfast. Location is excellent, walking distance to restaurants & bars. Ate at Kokomas & would recommend their banquet for $45. Parking is really, really tight. Lucky we stayed on a Sunday night & there weren't too many cars.
