« Was all right for one night »

Bed was comfortable, bedding was clean. Pillows were old and flat. Bathroom was grubby - the part between the shower and vanity unit was full of dirt on the base! Room was cold and couldn't see how the heating worked! It was fine for a one night stop over but doubt I would stay here again. However the staff that I encountered were excellent.

« Bearable. Could have been better »

The room was nice and clean, however, the heating wouldn't work so it was freezing cold, the wooden floor didn't help. The tv needed 're tuning every time we wanted to change channels. There was a private party in the hotel which went on until 12.30am. We were told about this but only after we had checked I and signed the form. Going on past experiences staying in Ibis hotels this stay was disappointing.

« I will visit Ibis Stevenage hotel again. »

Generally I was pleased with that 2stars hotel as got everything what was required for my 1 night stay. The hotel hasn't car park facility but near the hotel there is the shopping centre car park that is cheap if paid in the hotel's reception. I was very pleased having a bathroom with a small window and no damp presence. I would feel better having white bedding instead of the cream one. I will choose the hotel again if necessary. Thanks.Agnes.

« Friendly staff, hotel decor was a bit tatty. »

The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room had some bits of paintwork on the walls which were flaking off. The general decor of the hotel needed updating. The room was generally clean.

We paid £102.00 for a disabled room, there wasn't enough room to get the disabled chair into room, it definitely was not a freshly made bed, the sheet was all creased up, there was no soap in the bathroom and only 2 teabags. We definitely would not use the Ibis hotel again. Also, we had to pay £7.50 for parking ,the staff were not very helpful in explaining how the parking system worked. I think you should take a look at premier Inn and travelodge .there prices are better and the staff are so better trained.

The staff were very helpful the smoke detector in my room has a plastic bag over it from a previous quest who must have been smoking I reported it to the reception on my way out it was removed when I got back. Room and bathroom very clean will definitely stop again in the new year and now use other Ibis hotels instead of Premier Inns. Regards Gary

« Not overly happy »

The handle to the window in the bathroom was broken so we couldn't open the window and the handle to close the blinds was also broken and we asked for a double bed only to get 2 single beds pushed together with a zip joining them but the staff was excellent as usual and they were the reason we didn't complain

« More staff needed »

The positives: cost was reasonable and breakfast good with much choice. The hotel is situated in the shopping centre so central if on foot, a bit more difficult to find by car, even with a sat nav. We'd booked two nights as we were attending a wedding the following day and lived some distance away. After five hours (approx) of travel, we were very tired and chose to have an evening meal at the hotel. We went to the restaurant around 19:30 hrs; about 4 people were in there. We were greeted by a pleasant young girl who informed us that several food items were not available and she was on her own, looking after the kitchen, food orders and the bar and we would have to wait a while. We were told we could help ourselves to a hot drink but let her know what we had. This we did. Fortunately, the hot tea helped and we weren't about to keel over from hunger. Food was good when it came but air-condition cooled it down too soon for me. Other people came in and told the same as us; some left without ordering. I did feel a little sorry for the young girl but she remained pleasant throughout. There was a problem with the sink in our room, but once the receptionist came up and satisfied herself we were not making it up (both my husband and I had previously been down to say there was a problem), she kindly moved us to another room. There was a power cut on the day of the wedding. Although this was not the fault of the hotel (workman had cut through electrical cable), there was no generator to kick in. Walking up the stairs was not the problem for me, but in darkness in a place I was unfamiliar with was not nice. However, walking was an issue for another guest. There was an evacuation chair but apparently no-one trained to use it was there; this dear guest had to be carried down the stairs with their arms around the neck of a helpful male staff member whilst someone else tried to hold her legs; all this with only the aid of phone lights and a torch. The wedding ceremony was delayed but in the end, the beautiful bride came in to meet her handsome groom by candlelight. Thankfully, as a passage of scripture was being read, electricity was restored and the place erupted with praise to God. The issues did not deter from a great day; we sure won't forget it.

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback. It was unfortunate that on that particular day you arrived we had some staffing level issues and the team member on duty managed the best she could, unfortunately when these situations occur it is not always possible to find a full solution. I can only apologies for the issues you had in your original room but pleased we were able to offer you an alternative. Naturally it was a very difficult day for us with a lot of pressure when the power went down and it has highlighted for us that all team members need training on evac chairs which will ensure is done ASAP. We are so pleased that the wedding was able to go ahead and all the problems did not destroy the happy day. Kind regards

As soon as you enter reception it smells damp & musty & then just gets worse when you get to your room. This is a budget hotel but the rooms are poorly maintained & in desperate need of updating. The room for breakfast was nice & looked fresh & modern. Breakfast options were limited & it didn't help that at 9am no one having breakfast could have a tea or coffee as they were cleaning the machine! Why do that during service? Overall for the price it's ok just for a night but the hotel rooms definitely need updating.

« Reasonable priced clean and good service »

Fantastic check in experience - staff member was completely aware I was a single woman checking in and was thoughtful and courteous but more importantly was careful to wait until a group of lads had checked in before asking my name and did not divulge my room number in front of other guests who were checking in. Brilliant and so appreciated!
