« The attention by staff was exemplary. »

The entrance to the hotel give the first impressions which were extremely positive. This continues through the reception and public areas. The courtyard feels like a secret garden and offers a relaxed and tranquil area to enjoy a refreshment. The attention by staff were explemary. The concierge staff extremely knowledgable. The room was spacious and well appointed although lacking in a view. The swimming pool and gym an additional benefit. I would highly recommend the hotel and do intend to return with my husband at a future date.

Nicely located hotel in Amsterdam. The room are nicely decorated but small. Staff is helpful. The main restaurant is very good (1 michelin star) and worth a visit, but avoid the bistro which is a complete rip off (portions are tiny, food is basic and prices very high!)

I had one of the best experiences ever; from the minute I did the reservation (although I did a mistake and my booking was non-refundable ) till the checkout. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The concierge helped us a lot with the places that we shouldn’t miss in Amsterdam. I loved my spacious king bed room with Canal view. The hotel garden is so relaxing and peaceful. The location of the hotel is perfect; I had a great holiday and an unforgettable 8th wedding anniversary.

My husband and I were so sad to leave the Grand after two luxurious wonderful nights there! The breakfasts were AMAZING and we had dinner at the hotel one night that was delicious, too. We have enjoyed the Grand on two other occasions - we looked forward to returning but were disappointed that our request for a room change was not possible - told "fully booked" and yet i had telephoned two weeks in advance - Fortunately Yona was most kind and listened to my story - she treated us as valuable guests - still not able to accommodate the room - Then we met Rosa Morel and the team Bridges - what a first class asset she is for the hotel! We enjoyed a lovely lunch and a most memorable experience with Rosa!!!!! She invited us to meet the Chef and we also toured the new kitchen - what a treat! « Great location, wonderful staff but disappointing meal experience »

The check in staff were friendly, jovial and gave a great 1st experience, this was further experienced with the gym/pool reception personnel. The room was perfect for our stay, quiet despite the location but a little dark at times, the lighting offered very little. Meals at the hotel Bistro restaurant were disappointing on both occasions we visited; the hotel did provide some friendly gestures following my indication/query about the portion size on my 1st restaurant visit but unfortunately this didn’t force any changes as our meal on the following night was a similar experience for my daughter who ordered ribs and received 2 single rib bone as a €15 meal. My meal was spoilt on quality as the potatoes served with my chicken was poorly prepared/part boiled and near raw! The restaurant did offer free desserts following our 2nd complaint. The bistro need to be rebranded as casual a la carte to ensure customers are clear about meal expectation. Finally, I also realise after I had left for the airport that I was charged €7.50 for a small bottle of water. In general I liked this hotel and would use it again but I would choose to eat in the main restaurant where the expectation is clear or try the restaurants elsewhere.

« Horrible doorman. Effective but grumpy morning concierge. Room not ready with requested early arrival, so instead of American Express upgrade got a bad oom with no view.Asked »

Asked doorman for taxi. Told we were 2d in line. After 5 to 10 minutes asked again. I asked if we would do better going outside the courtyard ourselves. Doorman said to give it a try but he would not get involved. We failed to get taxi. When I went back to him for help, he said he'd cancelled our order and would not place a 2d order. I said, this was damn slow. He said he would never help us and walked away inside. I tried to complain to the hotel manager, but he never came out. Fortunately my wife found a cab outside.
