« People great but room extremely disappointing »

I came from staying at the Mercure Bordeaux Centre (six nights), which was excellent. I cannot believe that room 116 is in the hotel inventory. It is very shabby, wallpaper coming off the wall, badly damaged furniture, bathroom floor grout covered in dirt, discarded underwear and trash on roof outside of window, flickering bathroom lights. Thin, worn towels. Compared to the four start Bordeaux property, which is in good repair, the room at Gare du Nord property is not even a two star room. I took photos, which I would be happy to share with you, but the property management is aware of the above, I'm sure. I thought I had found a good hotel company after my Bordeaux stay, which is why I book the Paris property, but this experience has turned me off.

My stay was very convenient as always at Mercure Paris Terminus Nord. The only remark : I would have liked to order a salad at my room in the evening, but there weren't any on the menu.... If this could be changed in the future, that would be great !

« Customer Service is poor »

Tried to get a drink at the bar, with seating in reception limited and all in use (most guests not purchasing drinks). Was told we could not sit at a restaurant table (although this was afternoon). Despite Accord claims to provide a welcome to all guests my experience was the opposite.

« Feel welcome? Non! »

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the Gare du Nord. It certainly has that going for it, although the entrance was not easy to find with current building works going on. We arrived at 21:40. Being an elite member (not something I cherish with Accor given their lack of customer service), I was given a voucher for a welcome drink, with the advice that the bar closes at 22:00. My colleague and I dumped our luggage in the rooms, and returned to the bar ten minutes later. No-one was to be seen. The receptionist then advised that the bar had closed - no apology. We decided to find a beer outside, and returned an hour or so later. I then called down for an iron. Three calls and nearly an hour later, it turned up, by which time I was wishing I were asleep. My room was more tired than I was: peeling wallpaper, stained carpet, badly scratched sink in bathroom; I could go on. The air conditioning control was in a dark part of the room near the door - I had to use the torch on my phone to see it! At least it was quiet, facing as it did on an internal courtyard. The wi-fi was variable; it is possible to pay extra for a faster service, but that should not be necessary these days, especially at the price of these rooms! Toiletries were limited to a bar of soap and wall-mounted dispenser of combined shower gel /shampoo above the bath/shower. On our second evening, we returned to the hotel around 17:45, and I decided to use the drink voucher. The small lounge area by the bar was full, so we sat at one of the adjacent tables which were already set for breakfast. It took only a few seconds before we were told that we could not sit there. The bar was then abandoned once more, with nothing but a bitter taste. Breakfast was a good collection of cold meats and cheeses, but at €17 each I would have expected more. And if any of the staff read this - a smile costs nothing!! We were certainly not made to feel welcome. Frankly I would avoid this hotel. There are plenty of alternatives.

« Renovation under way »

The location is great as, opposite the Gare du Nord, it enables extra time in Paris. The room was comfortable and the staff friendly. However the hotel is undergoing a two year renovation so the entrance is unattractive and the reception on the first floor. Other guests had more noise problems than us and the experience of being part of a building site isn't conducive to an unconditional recommendation.

« Very friendly, helpful staff in a relaxing environment »

I always stay here when visiting Paris. I travel by Eurostar and the hotel is ideally situated next to Gare du Nord. I enjoy relaxing in the Golden Arrow Bar, which due to renovation is currently a Pop Up Bar. Although not the quality of the Golden Arrow Bar, I was pleasantly surprised by the standard of the temporary Pop Up Bar. Jonas is always very friendly and helpful to all and appears able to communicate with anyone, whatever the language. I enjoy meeting Jonas on my visits. I will continue to visit even though major renovations are being made. The reception staff were also extremely helpful and I think one member of staff is now a supporter of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club! Also it is invaluable to be able to leave your luggage in secure accommodation after check-out whilst not departing Paris until the evening.

« Musty rooms »

We had two rooms at this hotel for one night. Both rooms smelled funny, and neither seemed to have been updated in a while, with peeling paint on the ceiling, stains in the tub and on the bathroom counter, and sticky carpet.

It was a satisfactory stay of one day. I liked the staff and the receptionists who helped us during our first visit to Paris. However I was not very happy with the food quality and cleanliness of the room. Overall, was a pleasant stay with minor hitches.

« Hotel power outage »

The hotel had to find an alternative becaue they had a power outage. The replacement was excellent but the location was the main appeal of the hotel I booked so I was extremely disappointed to have to travel further for my early start the next day.

« totaly disappointing. »

No air conditioning in anywhere besides bedroom. Restoration work in the hotel without any redution of the price per night. €300 per night in those conditions are totaly disrespect to customers.

« Nobody told us the hotel was going through major construction  »

Entrance way through the street, only one elevator, no air conditioning in the so called breakfast room.received a letter during my stay stating I was over my credit limit and needed to settle my account, in all years of traveling I have never been told I am over my limit. My company Visa card has a limit of $100,000 and I am told I am over my credit limit

Your staff are wonderful, all of them. I'm sure once all the work is finshed as the hotel things will run smoothly again... it must be tricky for them!!!

Lovely friendly & helpful staff made our stay just a little more special- plus excellent breakfast, good quiet room, comfy beds. Being English we needed some extra tea and milk! which arrived promptly 👍

« Hotel under construction »

I received an upgrade for the room which I appreciated a lot, because it was quite busy. I did however receive an invoice for the minibar I did not expect. The hotel is under construction, but I don't remember being informed about this in my reservation confirmation. The original hotel reception, bar and breakfast area were unavailable and they created alternatives for those. A Manageable solution, but a bit poor for the 200 euro a night.

« absolutely fine, a comfortable, convenient hotel with friendly and helpful staff »

The hotel is under-going some renovation works and the new entrance has been managed well. The room I stayed in had clearly had some up-dating from rooms in the past and was very clean and comfortable. Overlooking the central courtyard means it is very quiet for such a busy spot. The staff were friendly and helpful and I felt well-looked after and safe. Not easy in these current times.

Even though some work is hopefully done in the hotel, I didn't feel welcome as a Accor Gold member
