I stayed from Sunday night to Friday check out. Monday through Wednesday I hung an earth day tag on my door waiving room cleaning/maid service. On Wednesday night I took the tag off so that Thursday I could have my room cleaned and restocked toiletries in the bathroom but no one came to my room Thursday.

the walls were paper thin and I could hear guests in rooms next to me all night long. there was a constant tapping sound on the floor above me. I didn't get much sleep at all. This was my first time staying at a Sofitel Hotel.

My husband and I really enjoyed our six day stay at the Sofitel, near Rittenhouse Square. It's a great location, convenient for pretty much everything. The room was lovely - very large, airy and elegantly decorated. Plus very clean and well appointed. The bed was extremely comfortable. Nice touches with a bowl of fruit and welcome card. And a helpful reminder about the clock change too! All the team were friendly and professional. From the reception staff to the guys on the door everyone was always cheerful and welcoming. Esther at Chez Collette was delightful. And Luis was particularly helpful with our extended check out. One thing to note though is if you use the computers in the Business Hub you need to have a basic understanding of French as the instructions on the print screen are in French! Easy enough but just so you know. Overall it is one of the best hotel experiences we have had. I would highly recommend the Sofitel. And would definitely be happy to return here. Thank you.

Overall stay was fine. I find it amusing that every time I check in there, your front desk employees feel obliged (are directed?) to apologize for the minibar that charges guests for just moving an item - yet you have not solved that problem. The mini-bar has clearly been identified as a problem. The first encounter a new guest has with your hotel involves your employee apologizing for a problem. It sets the tone for the whole visit and the relationship with the guest. Also, the fitness facility is inadequate just in terms of sheer size and number of machines/stations.

While it is true that the minibars are automated, this is done to make the billing process easier for our guests who choose to use this amenity. It is certainly not something that guests need to fear touching or should be apologized for at check-in. As you stated it does not make a welcoming first impression. « French experience in Philadelphia »

First time at the Sofitel/AccorHotels. Sofitel contacted me a few days before my arrival because they noticed I had double reservations. I told them that was an error and likely due to the face that I had not received an email confirmation when I first booked my stay which led to the double booking. They immediately cancelled my duplicate reservation. Next on arrival, I was early and confirmed my request for a quiet room away from elevator traffic. Unfortunately since I was early, the room was not yet ready and that was fine by me. They took my luggage and I asked for recommendations for lunch. The staff gave me great suggestions along Samson Street. Later the same staff saw me sitting in the lobby and brought my room key over to me before checkin time. Absolutely appreciate the initiative. It took me a while to adjust to the french Bonjour greetings every day. One evening, I went to the lounge for a cocktail waiting for a friend. I loved that they brought over a trio of popcorn, olives and nuts to go with my drink. It was the perfect complement before dinner. All in all a very lovely stay.

I came in delayed from storms, tired and hungry. Checkin was easy. Then I tried to get something to eat. First I tried calling room service but the phone was broken. Since I was in a suite, I then used the other phone. It rang forever, and then someone picked up and immediately told me to hold. I held for 5 minutes, no one picked up. I tried again, same experience, rang forever, immediately put on hold. I then went downstairs and told the desk about my experience and asked if the restaurant was open. I was told it was, I went in and it was completely empty, no one anywhere to be seen. I went back and they said "Sorry, we meant the bar was open for food" I finally got a drink and a meal at the bar where that staff was very responsive. Of course they had several staff for about six people in the bar. The rooms continue to be tired and dated, the gym always seems to have equipment that doesn't work, no scale, not enough machines, etc. The upgraded internet that we received by getting a code was a definite improvement, I will say.

There were a lot of basic amenities that seemed suboptimal. I was not able to get to my floor using one of the elevators. One of my friends had no hot water, and another had no drainage in the shower. My chair for the American Board of Surgery exam was broken and wobbly.

All of the lights are bright - it would be better to have lights that can be dimmed. If you have to get up in the night the only option is turn on a really bright bathroom light - making it difficult to get back to sleep. Rather than a high table and bar stool, it would be better to have a desk and chair. There were problems with the TV - the guide did not reflect the channel selections.

The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet and dark. Did not like the French doors, as they offered little privacy. We shared our room with our adult daughter. The lights from the room and bathroom were bothersome.
