A lot of people hanging about the hotel set a bad tone however more importantly the dirty carpets filthy toilets and smelly room made the stay one to never forget If this is typical of your business I would close it tomorrow I have stayed in Formule 1 hotels about 5 times but not since 2009. This hotel is a really bad advert for you

Friendly reception, and good room (as always), but it seemed as though the self cleaning feature of the toilet units was not working anymore, and nearly all of them (on our floor) were pretty dirty. That was a shame.

First time in an F1 hotel, we didn't know what to expect, except that the bathrooms and WC were common. I would have expected to be able to wash my hands in them however, which could be a really nice improvement. The beds were also a little too hard. For the price however, we couldn't expect much more :-)

Hotel riddled with mosquitos and flying ants

We stayed at the Formule 1 Rennes Nord on Sunday 19 August. It was the first night of our holiday in France, and we still bear the scars on our return home 9 days later. We arrived late at night and noticed a very large swarm of flying ants in the car park, they landed all over our car, and entered into our car, and some even entered into the room. However, the biggest problem was mosquitos. Unfortunately we arrived relatively late at night and did not notice mosquitos in the room, but when we woke up we discovered that we were (all 3 of us - my daughter, husband and I) covered in mosquito bites. My daughter suffered the worst and was bitten approximately 20-30 times on her feet, legs, arms and face. I received approximately 15 bites, and my husband around 5 bites. We noticed in the morning that previous occupants must have had similar problems as there were squashed mosquitos on the walls. We unfortunately then contributed to this, as we had to kill around 30 mosquitos in the morning. They were flying around the room, near to the sink, under the side of the bed, under the desk, behind the TV. We had not opened our window during the night (due to the flying ants) so they must have already been in the room. I mentioned this to the receptionist who acknowledged that there were lots of mosquitos in the hotel, and said it may be due to the fact that there is a waste treatment plant down the road. Had we known we would not of course stayed here. Unfortunately this was a very bad start to our holiday. We then had a 2-3 hour drive with a very fractious child who was struggling to cope with her mosquito bites. She still has evidence of the bites, some of which are turning into scars where she has not been able to avoid scratching them. I appreciate that mosquitos are natural, but it is not natural to encounter so many in one small bedroom. I can only imagine that there was either a nest of mosquitos in the room, or they were coming up via the sink. The rooms had clearly not been properly cleaned as there was evidence on the walls, and had the desks and bed areas been better cleaned they could have been removed, or at least there would have been less of them. All in all a very unsatisfactory stay at this Formule 1.

convenient but dull location. very plain modern building. great car park. great wifi. lovely welcome from duty manager who also served what looked like a great value wholesome breakfast. we had two rooms both adequate but smelly.

Facilities as I have come to expect but booked a breakfast and disappointed that there were only two bowls and no plates to use as the rest had been stolen. Nor were there any meats or cheese - just cereal bread and jam.

The facilities were usual F1 standard and as always the showers were good. However, there was no-one available at reception when we arrived around 4:30pm and no response to the call button or phone in the reception area (we did notice a staff member an hour or so later). We managed to check-in with the machine outside but the room we were given smelt badly of smoke and there was no-one around to report it to at the time and since we had to go out again fairly quickly we could not get it changed. The hotel also seemed pretty insecure as all the fire doors had been jammed open with fire extinguishers because of the heat. This may be OK in the day with staff around but not at night!

The room and location was exactly what was needed en route from Cherbourg to Spain. The bed was a little firm, but that did not worry me. The room was very clean, as were the showers and toilets. THe price reflected the simplicity of the room but was ideal for us to break up the journey. The only issue was that we booked breakfast and was told it was served from 6.30am but when we got up, we found that, on a Saturday, it is servde from 7.30am, so we paid for something we dint have. Otherwise, I would visit again.
