Thought that F1 Sarcelles would be a suitable budget choice to stay for a few nights to allow us to catch the train into Paris to explore the city by day. BIG mistake. the hotel was scruffy, grubby & stank of cigarettes. Unclean toilets. Clearly not a choice for the tourist, most visitors are clearly staying longer-term (washing hanging out of many windows) and writing in the local industries. Location deemed unsafe to walk back to the hotel from the train station in the evening and the taxi drivers were to scared of being mugged to do pick ups from the station either - it took over an hour, with the generous help of security guards at the train station who called local cab forms on their own mobile phones for us, to eventually convince one driver to come and fetch us to take us back to the hotel. Only redeeming feature was the concierge on the morning shift; a bright, friendly and helpful young man. The other staff on at other times were sullen/unfriendly.
