« Couldnt sleep, the room was too hot! »

We couldnt sleep because we were so hot. It was cooler outside than it was inside with the ac barely working. We opened all the windows to cool off the room and then we got bit by all the mosquitoes who flew in.

For a 4 * hotel, I find it expensive and the minimalist room, no decoration, small bath. Two stars are worth such a hotel, Novotel : NEVER.

« Relaxed family holiday. »

It was relaxed, we were well looked after and the food and service were good. The children were very happy with the pool and the setting within the golf complex was lovely. The rooms were quite basic and although clean there was no sense of the contemporary luxury found in the reception and restaurant area. The children's play area was basic too and the amount of metal made it unusable in such a hot climate. Overall we were very pleased with our stay.

Helpful employees by the desk, and the cleaning was well done. Good breakfast, but was a bit dissapointed by the dinner and the service from the restaurant / bar. Really happy for the possibility to rent bikes.

« Rooms lacking in cleanliness and in need of refurbishing »

The rooms we booked (Executive) should really not be called that. They are worn out, grubby and in need of a good thorough cleaning. The rooms are well below what an "Executive" room standard should be. On the back of this stay and the room standard we had, we will not be staying at this hotel again. We stayed at this hotel on the back of a recommendation from our Son, who has stayed at your hotel previously, and he was also extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the accommodation at this hotel now and has also fed back accordingly.

« Executive rooms are not very executive. Small, grubby and tattered. The rooms are very much in need of a good clean and refurbishing. »

Hotel reception at check in and check out was manned by, what seamed, to be new employees or people on work experience and they had no idea of what they were required to do and they were on their own. I had to wait while they went to find someone to assist them. The, supposedly, Executive rooms we had booked should really not be called that. Grubby, tattered and very much in need of a proper cleaning and in desperate need of refurbishing. They were a mess, not what I should expect on booking such a room at such a hotel. I will not be using this hotel again and will seek an alternative when we visit this area again.

Very small room, very small terrace ( it was not possible to sit on the terrace, no place for a chair) Dinner was very poor, atmosphere not nice. Staff hanging around, not interested in clients. Breakfast the same. Absolutely not like other Novotel hotels

Both business and personal, I have stayed many 4/5 star hotels in various countries. This certainly did not qualify as 4 star. I booked this place as last minute overnight stopover. Suite - it was called suite by separating a small room into bedroom and louge area, but it was very small and we thought there was another room, but there wasn't. Not even heated towel rails. Drain smelled - our dogs picked up before us! The worst of all, the food and restaurent. We wanted to relax and have a nice evening meal, but it was awful, uncomfortable cafe, more like. Food was ill prepared, wine list was virtually non-exeitant, came with plastic bag wine cooler. Bread was served in a paper bag... The last straw on the dinner was the so called "pear tart" for dessert. It was puff pastry, and it was warmed up by microwave, so it was all greasy and soggy. it was terrible. Then the breakfast. It was ill stocked, no service at all. There were no one to greet us, they should at least ask us for tea or coffee, but nothing. The choice was limited. While we were still eating, they started clear things up - stopped fresh fruit juice, took away pastries, etc. We came out thinking, was it a dream? For the amount of money they charged for the small ill equipped suite, 2-star rated restaurents, we wanted a relaxing stop over but...

We have stayed in many hotels in various countries, 4 or 5 stars plus. Although this was last minute, stop over, we wanted a relaxing night and decent dinner. Chose to stay in a suite, it was just about suite, by having separate sitting area, but it was so small, should be called large bedroom. Not even heated towel rail. Restaurant - it was absolutely disappointing. We walked in and we thought it was a cafe. Food was obviously pre-prepared. Menu was small. It did not deserve 4 star hotel restaurent. They even served a desert tart pastry served heated by microwave - all wet and soggy! Breakfast was even worse - hardly any choice, noone to greet us or asked us for tea or coffee, or cooked breakfast, which should be standard for 4 start hotel. While we are still eating, they have started clear away - all the fresh juices were gone, pastry taken away, not that there were many left, we just left. Only consolation was there were enough hot water. The amoujt charged was absolutely ridiculous for the experience. We will never go again. We can no longer trust Accor hotel's 4 star rating.

5 nights stay during summer peak season. Friendly staff and good location for playing golf. Very bad food at restaurant, bad precooked product and long waiting time. Caesar salad was made from horrible lettuce and terribly bad chicken. Club sandwich was overcooked (burned), same disgusting premade products. Will not come back.

The hotel was nice and clean and so was the room. But we did not experience good service. Our welcome was fine, but the staff at the reception was not very helpful, did not give us much information - but just checked us in. No explaining of how the gate at the parking lot worked at night. No explaining of where the breakfast buffet was, how to get to the pool or anything (we had to figure it all out ourselves - it was not a problem, but it would have been nicer if the staff were friendly and helpful). When we questioned the room itself, we were met with no understanding and "I don't know". We had booked an executive room (a little bit bigger, since we had our two children with us - they are 14 and 11 years, so they are not small children - and of course a little bit more expensive), and expected a room according to the pictures on the hotel's website. But to our surprise the room looked exactly like a superior room (also nice, but not as big and not as expensive). When we asked about it in the reception, we were told that we indeed had an executive room, that was bigger than the other rooms - but we could see on the hotel plan of the rooms, that our room was the same size as almost all the other rooms. We did not pursue the matter, but were disappointed - although we had a nice big balcony and free minibar, we felt that we had paid more for less. In terms of helpfulness, when we on our first day asked at the reception where we could go for restaurants and shops, we were directed to what turned out to be .... the beach! Lots of people, nice Mediterranean sea, but no shops or restaurants. By ourselves we found the promenade near the Centre Ville of La Grande-Motte - and we could have walked there instead of taking the car (we had driven all the way from Denmark so we would have preferred to walk!) Also the map of La Grande-Motte was only given to us when we asked for it - I think it would have been nice, if we had had it when we arrived. As part of the service.... a map of the area is nice and we could have saved ourselves the drive to the beach that we did not need at that point (on the evening we arrived). Two days before we left to go home we came down to the parking lot, only to find that a car had parked beside ours on the white stripes (where no one is supposed to park), and in that process the driver of the car had driven so close to ours that our car was scratched down the side AND we could hardly get into our car in the driver's side. The scratches were not real scratches luckily, just paint from the other car - and my husband did not want to complain, since we did not know who owned the other car. BUT I found it super annoying that we could not park our car in the parking lot at the hotel 'in peace'. On the morning that we checked out, the service at the reception was again poor. No smiles, no "have you enjoyed your stay", no "hope to see you again". It would have been nice with staff that were friendly and at least seemed to care about the guests at the hotel. We were disappointed since we have stayed at Novotel hotels in other cities - e.g. in Berlin - and had expected the same friendly atmosphere and helpfulness as we have had before in the other hotels. We found a very very nice, clean hotel, but not the friendly and helpful staff. We're sorry to say. That is why we only rate our stay in the low end of satisfied.
