We did not start off well. We booked a king luxury room which we have stayed in before. What we love about this room is that it is 400 square feet which is definitely large for a NYC hotel. When you look at your WEB site it describes Queen size rooms which are of no interest to us and King luxury rooms starting at 400 sq. ft. It is very clear however that is not what we experienced when we arrived in room 1001. The room was extremely small and nothing like what we expected. My two cents is that you threw a king size bed in a smaller room and tried to pass it off like it was a king luxury room. When I phoned down to discuss this with the front desk I was told that there were no rooms available until the following day. I was not happy with this option. I like to arrive, unpack and then head out to experience the city. We also had a full day booked the next day and moving was not part of the plan. I went down to the front desk and fortunately a room was found for us and was clearly much more to our liking. My phone experience was disappointing hower in person I felt that everyone was committed to improving our experience and were certainly able to find us a room. Full disclosure - we used our credit card points to book our room as we had accumulated quite a few and wanted to use them. When we checked in and when we initially complained about the room we received we were definitely made to feel that we somehow were not entitled to the room selection. Again I go back to the point that no where on your WEB site does it discuss a King room that is so small you can barely make it around the bed. I clearly booked the King luxury - as was described on our credit card WEB site. I kept hearing Expedia - which to be fair could possibly who our CC company uses but so what is what I have to ask?

2nd stay at this property which sits on a quieter street in mid town. When room was not ready We were provided a nice upgrade. Felix at Front desk was pleasant, courteous and responsive. Lobby staff consistently offered a friendly smile and hello on walks through lobby. Only negative comment is hotels of this calibre should always provide some level of coffee and free water in rooms, and at a minimum have coffee in lobby.

It was generally a wonderful experience with helpful and welcoming staff as I would expect from Sofitel. However, I did have a less than satisfactory experience with the Housekeeping that I feel management should be aware of. I requested for a razor and the lady on the phone said it was no problem. However instead of a razor, we were brought a toothbrush. I called again and she apologized and said she would correct it. However, I never received it then and did not hear back from housekeeping to say none was available. I understand if razors are no longer part of the toiletries made available for guests but I believe the service fell short here in that I was told one would be brought when in fact, none would be. Despite being assured that the toothbrush was out brought by mistake.

My wife and I couldn't be more satisfied with our stay at your hotel. We experienced genuine hospitality throughout our visit, from the professionalism of Michele (?spelling) in reservations whose warmth and welcoming was so much appreciated, to all the staff that we interacted with. Our room was comfortable and always immaculate with a beautiful view from the 22nd floor. The hotel is perfectly located and easily walked to from Grand Central Station. I love the Sofitel! My primary interest in NYC is theatre so your location is the best. And then there is the wonderfully designed room and bath. The entire staff is superb and the housekeeping staff is fantastic! I’ve never had a better hotel experience, and I’ve been staying in hotels in NYC for 58 years. I cannot suggest a single improvement!

Beautiful lobby and a very attentive and accommodating staff welcomed me. I asked for a room and received one that did not have any adjoining doors to other rooms. The first thing that I noticed was the two narrow doors leading into the bathroom; if you opened the door on the right, it would swing back closed, so I had to use the door on the left and enter sideways. The minibar was not refrigerated and the TV went in and out of brightness. Engineering was very helpful by providing a temporary refrigerator and other assistance.

Terrible. The rooms for each of the 3 of us dark with only a blank wall to look at making the room look as it had no window at all. The pillows were soft so much that it would take three pillows to make one. Very unpleasant.

Room was tired and dirty, and given it was supposedly an upgrade had a view of a wall and a fire escape. Staff made no effort to be of assistance, either with regard to the poor room or my polite request for a late check out. I am a regular business traveller all around the world and this is probably the worst hotel I have stayed at. I will not be staying at Sofitel hotels again.
